"We toured Windlands South. I loved it. It's just that I can't afford it. It was extremely clean. They had a library, game rooms, and TV rooms. It is all meals included. They had weekly cleaning, a gym, and a planting garden. The rooms were wonderful, and there was nothing at all wrong. It's just a little bit on my budget. It's a great bargain if you've got enough money. So, it was food, all utilities, the cable, and all those services for $3,000. It's too far up. I can't afford that. It's a gated community. Everyone we spoke with was exceptionally friendly. I saw their menu, and it looked like it was very good."

"I am a resident of Traditions of Smyrna. One of the great things I love about this place is that they have so many activities for people to do. The activities are great. They provide transportation to a grocery store two times a week. They will take you to the doctor on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you let them know in advance. Garbage is picked up right outside your door every morning before 8 o'clock. The food is included. You have what they call a certain number of points a month, and that's how they go by it. The food is sometimes good, sometimes it is not quite as good. It depends on the cook, but it's certainly not a complaint. The staff are some of the friendliest people I've ever run into anywhere. My apartment is very nice and up-to-date, with subdued colors, a lot of white, big windows, and a little door to a little balcony. I love it here. They come and clean my apartment twice a month. They vacuum the hall, mop, and clean it all the time."

"I'm moving into Manor At Steeplechase. A lot of the places we saw had no exits out of the units except into a hallway and I have an assistive dog. I've wanted a way to take him out without taking him through the building; that's why I picked Manor At Steeplechase. They've been extremely helpful. My son was very pleased with it and they were very nice to him. My daughter-in-law was very pleased with it as well. It's a three-story building. In Franklin, it's hard to find green space, but this has space. It's more than a yard. Except in the front, you don't see a subdivision or anything like that. When the leaves come out on our trees, I will not be able to see the tops of the houses or anything like that. There is a four-lane highway, which is naturally busy, but they've set it back off the road, so you don't feel like you're going to have a car come into your house. They had all of the common facilities and arrangements like food and light housekeeping. Because of the dog, I had a downstairs apartment with an exit onto a small patio. All of the second and third floors have balconies, some go out of the living room, and some go out of the bedroom. If it wasn't for the dog, I'd probably take any of them. Some of the one-bedrooms are larger than others. I found out from my son that it was one of the first of that kind in Franklin. It was well-maintained and clean. People didn't take a shortcut cleaning. It was well-appointed. It was the cheapest of the group that I looked at. The menus sound nice. The balance and everything looked very appropriate."

"My mother is in Vitality Living Franklin. It's the right size community. Not too small, not too big. The services are there to meet her needs and the staff is concerned with her well-being. The main area of the assisted living is kind of hardwood and their bedroom is carpeted. They have things and refrigerators and that sort of stuff. They have whatever the residents are looking for. They kind of pull the residents and some of the high school folks come over to do some of their performances from the Franklin High School as well as just general bingo and elderly calisthenics and that sort of stuff. I've eaten there and the food was pretty good on the assisted living side. On the memory care side, it could improve. Value seems to be on par with everybody else."

"We toured Rutland Place. The cleanliness was the best, and the people who took us on the tour did a great job, and the people who lived there. The facility was so nice, and the grounds were beautiful. They're all priced in the same area, and all we looked at was that the pricing is very similar. We like their rooms the best because all of the rooms had fans in them, and they were a nicer layout. The other thing we looked at was the people who were living in it, who seem to be maybe not as old. The whole area was cleaner and a nicer environment, which is what we like. Two men took us around. They were so good and they showed us everything. They were very pleasing to work with. We spent a good hour there or more because they were great. We saw the menu and everything was nice."

"I like Carrick Glen Senior Living. They had nice individual homes with attached garage. I visited a 2-bedroom 2-car garage, and I liked the individuality of the home. They just didn't have enough availability, but they had a waiting list. The dining room was nice and decorated. The staff explained to me about the meal plan, and they had a separate building for the activities."

"I am living in Lake Providence and I choose it because it is a beautiful place with nice houses. The people are very friendly and accommodating. My house is very spacious and everything is on one level. I have two car garages with no steps and it is very conveniently and designed for wheelchairs or disabled people. They had a clubhouse and workout rooms with lots of activities. This is a nice community and I am really happy here. "

"I toured McKendree Village. The staff member who assisted me was very friendly. We didn't have much touring given. It's just directions, more so of how to get from point A to point B. I really like the room size. I saw a two-bedroom, and it was very nice to be considered assisted living."

"We looked at Saddlebrook, independent living for seniors, and that was a pretty nice place. We did not have a model to look at, so we looked at the facility. It seemed pretty nice. The common areas seemed OK. I thought they had a salon, and a common area for gaming. They had a media room where you could go and watch TV and a full-time staff during the day, but they did not have anything after hours or in case of emergency. You had to get your own Life Alert type thing if you wanted to do that. It would be nice if they had that, but they did not have a full or round-the-clock staff in the office to handle emergencies because it was independent living. "

"We have chosen Hearthside Senior Living. We got our names on the waiting list there. We met with the manager of the property. He gave us some brochures, and told us all about the property, the cost factors, and so forth. It is a nonprofit, so the cost factor is considerably lower than in other areas. I think they have 30 units in total. They have two two-bedroom units, and the rest of them are three-bedroom in a gorgeous layout with two car garages, a large great room, a kitchen, and a living area. Then on the particular unit, we went into was a screened-in patio out back and nice large bedrooms. The master bedroom and master bath are good size. The kitchen is a good size and well-appointed. They maintain everything except your washer and dryer. The floorplan is just gorgeous from the inside out. All units are occupied right now, but they have an agreement with one of their people to let you come in and look at the facility. You can go into the assisted living facility and you can eat your three meals there or you can get them and take them home. They've got game rooms that you can participate in. It's top-notch. All of the people were very friendly at the assisted living facility where the office was. "

"My brother will move into Legacy Village of Hendersonville. We liked the tour, and they've been really helpful. We were able to buy the furniture that was already in the studio showroom. So that was helpful, not having to go out and find furniture. They've been nice to let us in to measure things and get what we need. It's in the middle of the road. The size of the rooms is nice. They offer all the way up to memory care. So, if my brother has to be moved eventually, he won't have to change facilities. The residents seem to be happy there. We talked to two or three of them. One thing we liked was that the dining area is on the first floor, where some of them are not, and they have to take an elevator to get to it. So, that was good. She was very nice and let us in to check other things. They also offered entertainment, which was good, trying to get them to interact. They showed us the menu, and if they don't like what they have on the list for the day, they can always get a sandwich, a hamburger, or something like that. The staff was very nice and accommodating."

"My dad has moved into Park Place Retirement. He has been there for two weeks now. Everything about it is great from what I can see so far. His room is spacious. It's got two windows, a large refrigerator, and lots of storage. It has three closets in it. It's the best bang for your buck. So far, so good. The director is very nice and very accommodating. I don't have anything bad to say. My dad seems to be pretty pleased with the food thus far. The dining area is a nice size. They have a lot of activities, too."

"I toured the Album Indian Lake. The community is extraordinary. They have all the amenities that you need. If you want to be an active senior, they have a weight room and pools. They have an activity room where they do activities with the seniors. They have arts and crafts, a family area, and a theater room. They have everything. The person who showed me around was Elizabeth. She was nice, and the greeter at the door was Lisa. She was also really nice. The apartments are very, very well-kept. They're nice and spacious. The kitchens and the unit itself are amazing."
