The Best Independent Living Communities in Wilson County, TN

"I have visited McKendree Manor and Towers on several occasions for different reasons throughout the years. I have an elderly grandmother who will eventually become a resident of this facility based on our visits there. I have found that the staff is attentive and takes the time to get to know each resident and their families. I have always been impressed that there was a pharmacy on site that carries a nice stock of durable medical supplies, and has a wonderful pharmacist that will answer all of your questions in plain and simple terms. My grandmother is excited about the hair and nail salon on site and the scheduled shopping trips. Mckendree offers 3 types of assisted living which is really neat. You can chose a private residence on the grounds, an apartment, or a full service nursing home if you need it. I have also seen first hand the safety protocols for a fire evacuation and was shocked at the efficiency that the staff was able to get everyone out doors and into safety. The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is that the food isn't that great. "

"I like Saddlebrook. It's just like your own home here and the people that manage it are very well they keep it up very good. There are several senior activities. There's a senior center not far from here and in the building, there are games nights and bingo and all kinds of activities. I like best the cleanliness and ease of access. I'm very satisfied and happy here. "

"Upon my arrival at this facility I was greeted by many smiling faces. The staff was very professional and friendly. I even felt like I had just walked into my grandmothers house. The patient I was there to see was very happy. She appeared very well taken care of. She was changed if she had soiled herself very promptly. She was taken to do crafts while I was there and said it was one of her favorite parts of the week. "

"My husband and I were looking for a place for the future. We swim 3 times a week, we drive and travel all over. I'm 75 and he's 92. We're both healthy now. But we realized in the future we may need it. We have gone to many facilities but we found a place in Lake Providence and this is the one we liked best. What we like best about this community is that it has 2 swimming pools and we both love to swim. It has everything. We do a lot of wood working. They have wood working shop. They have many clubs and we would be buying a golf cart because you can go to the grocery store on golf cart. They have a private driveway to a shopping center so that you can go there and drive on the back way without having to get on the road. This is our favorite! All the people and staff are friendly and amazing. This is a great place to live. Highly recommended. "

"We went to Carrick Glen Senior Living. I like the people that we met. The building had a new edition for assisted living, so we like that. Also, it's very quiet and not right next to any major roadways or anything like that. The apartment that we looked at had an outside porch, and they had courtyards for the residents."

"My mother has been a resident at Rutland Place for almost 2 years. The staff and management at Rutland treat the residents like family and go above and beyond at all times. I know in my heart that there is nowhere else that my mother could be living that would be better for her. I feel so very blessed that she is now 20 minutes away and not 12 hours, and that I can leave work when I need to and be there for her, and that she has the full support of everyone at Rutland behind her too! "

"My wife is at Legacy Village of Hendersonville. They're on the first floor, which is like the locked-down area. The facility is quite nice. The people that work there are friendly and helpful to my wife. They have lots of activities, and I think it's a fairly good place to be. We had a bunch of photos blown up and put in frames, and we put them on the walls in her room. It looks pretty nice now. It's a shared room with one other person. If you go into the room, my wife is on the right, and then there's like a wall, and the other lady is on the left, and then the bathroom is on the side. It's kind of a half-private room. There is a fenced-in area with seats and stuff that they can go out any time they want. That door is still locked though. They don't like anybody to be out there if they don't know they're there, and I appreciate that. And they spend a lot of time in the activity room, so if somebody wants to go outside, they don't go unnoticed. They have a theater where they play movies and sometimes make popcorn for them. They always have a nurse there for any problems. I think it's pretty good. Another thing is that they don't provide anything but the room. So you have to provide a bed and a dresser. Anything that you want there, you have to provide it, so that's a big thing."

"I toured the Album Indian Lake. The community is extraordinary. They have all the amenities that you need. If you want to be an active senior, they have a weight room and pools. They have an activity room where they do activities with the seniors. They have arts and crafts, a family area, and a theater room. They have everything. The person who showed me around was Elizabeth. She was nice, and the greeter at the door was Lisa. She was also really nice. The apartments are very, very well-kept. They're nice and spacious. The kitchens and the unit itself are amazing."

"Park Place Retirement is very nice and I like it. It's a very well-run and friendly place, I'm very comfortable here. They have cards, and jigsaw puzzles and they bring in entertainment now and then too which is nice. It's so pretty that we get out and walk, so that's also a nice activity. Most of us don't drive, so they have somebody that will take us to the grocery store and doctor's appointments. The staff was very nice, they're always polite and we enjoy the good atmosphere. There's an assisted living section in addition to where I am now, and the rooms are quite nice. There's a big porch where people sit out a lot. They furnish the meal, and the food is very good. The workers are great, they are always ready to help if you needed it. Many don't want to participate in the activities, but that's up to them, there's plenty to keep everyone busy. It's as expensive as any other place is."

"I am moving to Windlands East in two weeks. They have a nice kitchen, which most places do not have. They also take residents to the doctor twice a week if they need it. "

"I toured New Hope Senior Living and was impressed with the thought that was put into every detail from design and decor to services and activities offered to ensure the residents happiness and safety. The entire property is beautiful beyond words and it is obvious in my tour with staff, the goal is to make sure each resident feels they are at home and not in a facility."

"Maybelle Carter Living is an older facility, but it's maintained well. It's like an apartment building. It has long hallways, but it looks nice and clean. My parents have everything they need there. The staff is wonderful. They're available around the clock, and they've been very attentive to their needs. They have plenty of activities. They have bingo, painting classes, and a men's club where they get to play cornhole or dine together. The dining areas are also very nice with linen tablecloths and a grand piano. They serve good food, too."

"We chose Sycamores Terrace because of the price and the services offered. There's an activities director, and they do bingo, grocery shopping, and exercise. They have a laundry room and a walking path. They have three meals a day, and they serve good food. It's nothing but wonderful. The staff is on top of things and very courteous, and there is not any turnover, so my father-in-law gets consistent care. I would recommend it to anybody. The owner is wonderful. He is on-site everyday starting about 4:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m., and he is easily accessible. He loves it there. "

"The memory care unit at Stones River Manor was much larger than in other places. It appeared to be one large grouping and I'm concerned that my wife would not adapt well to that. Some things they have are very nice, it's a Christian-based organization and it's super in that regard. I met with the director who took me on the tour, and another person there that oversees the patients. This place is my second choice, and all the other professionals I consulted like my doctors, this was their first choice. They are offering about the same activities for memory care as other places, like small group things and craft activities. They have a lovely aviary with a lot of birds in it, they also have an aquarium which I understand is soothing for their clients. I had no misgivings about this place, they were very good. The thing is I was looking for a smaller group setting for my wife. The staff was very caring and nurturing."
