Located on Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast, the small city of Venice is a haven for seniors. Of the city’s 20,000 residents, 61.1% are over age 65. Venice Beach, known for its coral reef, is a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling and boating. Venice boasts better-than-average air quality and more than 30 parks, making it ideal for those who prefer an active, outdoor lifestyle. The Lake Venice Golf Club and other area courses offer retirees a relaxing way to get some exercise and socialize. Seniors can stroll the historic downtown area with its many shops and restaurants, and art and music enthusiasts can take in a museum or art exhibit or attend a performance of the Venice Symphony.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
