My father is in Brookdale Port Charlotte. We chose it because of the location. It was a mile away from where he lived and he was familiar with the area. His banks and stores and everything that he goes to are still very convenient. The staff was very friendly, very welcoming, very attuned to what our needs were, and helpful in describing the different levels of care and what they offered, and going in, not knowing anything, they were able to at least help with that. The rooms are perfect. I think my dad has one of the larger units. It's a one-bedroom, bath, and it has a living area and a small kitchenette, and it was the perfect size. It's like 600 or 700 square feet, which downsizing from his home, which was probably 1600 or 1800 square feet, I thought was going to be tough, but it worked out perfectly. It's very homey and very comfortable. Once we got everything set up, everything was just what he needed and nothing that he didn't. There's Home Depot, Lowe's, Michael's, Publix, Winn-Dixie, all the banks, everything is in this area. It's like the hub of Port Charlotte, so everything is there. It's a basic homecooked kind of meal. It's nothing too fancy. They have options, which was nice in the morning, if you wanted an omelet or if you wanted toast or if you want a bacon and eggs fried. Then at lunch, they've got a preprinted menu for the week or maybe even the month. They give them a couple of options and it could be anything from something heart-healthy, fruit and cottage cheese or something like that to a sandwich, to hot dogs, and then for dinner, one night it might be pot roast, another one, it might be chicken or fish. My dad liked it. He said it was good. The dining area is pretty large with probably 15 tables that can sit up to four at each. When I went in to sit with my dad a few times, most of the tables had familiar groups sitting on it, like four people who knew each other. There were a couple of people who kind of sat by themselves at their own table I figured that was a choice. They were really good about bringing my dad in to meet some new residents there, but then other residents would come around. It was a nice community group and just outside of the dining room area was a large living room area with a TV and of course, it was Christmastime, and it was all decorated. This space was probably 30 x 50 with probably 15 plus tables in it, so when people would come in and sit down if they had their walkers, the attendants were great about pulling the walkers out of the way. If they had oxygen, they would leave the oxygen tank near them, but that way, people could get around and serve them and the walkers weren't in the way and as soon as they indicated that they were done, they wanted to go, the attendants were right there bringing their walkers back over and getting them settled or if they had a wheelchair or whatever. It didn't seem cluttered at all. Every day, they had something. Mondays and Wednesdays were set up for appointments that residents needed to go on. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, they have shopping appointments. They were doing some watercolors or making Christmas cards or they have games or they bring in local chorale singers to do Christmas carols. They had something every day and even two or three things for the residents to do. They had bingo probably almost every day. They would have other games. They had activities they would do in the dining area and they would have several attendants. There were people that work there kind of managing each table and what the residents were working on. I didn't know if it was just because of the holidays that it seemed like there was a lot going on, but I'm going back in the next three weeks, so I'll get to see more of what they're doing, but I was impressed. I thought they had a lot to do. They have a spa, a salon, a center courtyard with a screened-in area, so they can go outside, a game room, and a computer room. There was another gathering area as well as the dining room. The condition of the place was pretty decent. It looked pretty good. They kept it up. I was expecting to see wheelchairs and stuff bang into the walls and things chipped, especially after Hurricane Ian, but I thought it looked well and everything was kept clean. I didn't see any water stains or issues from wear and tear. Based on a couple of places that I contacted, it was surprisingly more affordable than I was expecting. For what they do, I thought it was great.

Brookdale Port Charlotte was very nice. The community seemed charming. It was a small community and had a friendly environment. It was more of a quiet kind of community. I saw their menu, and they take requests from the residents so that if they want some outside food, like Chinese or something, they're willing to go and help facilitate those desires, so that was very nice. The staff members were very nice and informative.

Everything about Brookdale Port Charlotte was phenomenal. The staff was phenomenal as well. They were all pleasurable and approachable people. They were very knowledgeable and seemed like they cared for the residents there, and the residents were all happy, too. They all seemed to love the place. I just liked the setup. Everybody had their own room. They had lovely courtyards for the residents to go out and sit in. They're very, very nice.

Brookdale Port Charlotte was very nice. The facility was neat and clean. The rooms were also nice and it looks like they had lots of activities. There was a group playing cards and it seemed like they were having a lot of fun. The staff were nice, too. Several of them made an effort to come by, welcomed us, said hello, and asked if we had any questions while we were on the tour with the tour person. It was a pretty place. They had a game room and a nice dining room as well.

I liked the fact that Brookdale Port Charlotte had a nurse on call. The people were very attentive. Everyone wanted to meet Mom and talk to her when we were there. The place was very clean. The room she'll be getting has a living room, her bedroom, her own bath, and a little kitchenette. It's a small community an it's got a nice enclosed courtyard. They offer transportation. They go out on outings all the time and do lots of activities. It was the best fit.

My mother moved into Brookdale Port Charlotte. We chose this place because my sister was here last year. They have difficulty getting staff to work, but the people that are there are wonderful. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. They're doing as much as they can for everybody. They have bingo, arts and crafts, and card games. They have a recreational person who can drive the van, so they take them out on shopping trips and stuff. It's a very nice place.

Brookdale Port Charlotte was very nice. I'd give them a five for everything. Residents are allowed to have pizza/wine parties on the lanai and they can come and go. The rooms were also very nice. They took me around and they had everything. They had euchre (which my friends like to play), game rooms, bingo, and all kinds of stuff going on. They were very good. There were people cutting trees down, mowing the grass, and cleaning. It would be the number one place I would recommend.

Brookdale Port Charlotte assisted living was clean. The community was well-maintained and the staff was friendly. It seems like it is run very well. Everything was top-notch there. They had an outside yard that was enclosed which is good. There won't be any chance of wandering off or anything like that. The 1-bedroom apartment I saw was also clean and spacious.

Brookdale Port Charlotte was nice and seemed reasonable. It looked pretty clean and well kept. I like the director. I got a good feeling from her. The amenities looked OK. One girl was making model airplanes and the other people were staring at the wall and watching TV. I spoke to the staff briefly and I like them.

Our dad truly loved his home at Brookdale. Everyone went beyond our expectations to care for dad. The last year of his life was because of their love for him and we are so appreciative. He needed support with everyday tasks and received it consistently. He made great friends and had a wonderful quality of life.

I am very satisfied with Brookdale Port Charlotte. My Mom has lived there for a number of years and one thing I can say, management is diligent in their efforts. One will always have issues that arise; dealing with human beings. It's how those challenges are faced and solutions are made, that set a community apart. The RAs do a great job caring for my mom's needs and the other residents. My hat goes off to them. This team handle things with grace and dignity.

Nice place. Clean, simple layout and nursing in the building. Staff was pretty social, doing exercises with the seniors in the family room. There was allot of laughing going on, and they seemed to enjoy themselves. The seniors we spoke to are happy. We learned about potential benefits thru the VA, which no one had shared with us before. The experience was great and she found a solution to help our family, which we appreciate. Different experience from the other places we toured.

What a wonderful place. Clean, attention to care, good food and a happy home. Doctor said that my mom wouldn’t benefit from asst loving. Boy was he wrong. She is active, lively and happy again. All because of what this facility does for her and her new friends. So glad we placed her, and more importantly is she as well.

We have a parent living at Brookdale Port Charlotte with dementia, which has been a difficult change for us. These people are godsend! They have been patient, informative and continue to help us with what seems like monthly changes. The attention and care they give is beyond what we expected. These changes are scary for us and they always seem to have a solution that works. The therapy services, and programs have been extremely helpful. We don't worry any longer, because we know they are looking out for our parent, like it's their own. The management team is top notch, and run that place with whole heart. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would.

Our loved one did reside with brookdale port charlotte. We were happy with the care & attention, had special meal needs & it wasn't a problem. Most impressive was anytime we had questions or concerns, they made themselves available & always followed thru. The Ex. dr, Sales dr, Biz. mgr, & Care Staff are truly the best. The feeling we had when we first visited, till the day we left was the same! Room cleaned well every week, laundry service consistent & they keep the place clean. Offer activities and day trips frequently. Cost reasonable for the amount of attention they give to the elderly they care for. When considering assisted living, you should visit. We highly recommend this community!

Great community. Clean, lively and unique. Visited in ‘17 and this year. Staff patient and engaged. Food was good and especially liked the “I can do” mentality we experienced on both visits. My dad likes this one and is anxious to move in. Definitely take the time to visit. This Brookdale is different in a very good way. Whole lot of heart in this building

We liked this one. Visited twice, witnessed the staff caring for the people living there with patience. Has a few apartment styles and nice safe outdoor area. One level with no elevators. Liked that they have clinical in the building, 24 hour care and therapy service, all within Brookdale. We went to happy hour and the food was good and they had activities. It's also pet friendly. This place felt different from others we visited. Feels like the right fit.

We chose Brookdale In Port Charolette Florida because of its comfortable feel and friendly staff. When my mother did her tour she was really impressed with the level of care and consideration that was given to the residents and the delicious meals provided. We got way more than we expected ❤️ My Aunt who is a resident is always raving about the food, she says the staff are incredibly gentle and offer her the support that she needs. Her needs are anticipated and met before she can even voice them and she is integrating and making friends. This has been the most remarkable gift for our family, my Aunt is happier than I have seen her in many years and is not suffering from the isolation that she had been experiencing when she was at home receiving twenty four hour care from caregivers. The transformation that is underway has been so powerful that it brings tears to my eyes when I think of the quality of life that has been restored to my Aunt. The residents have been inclusive and the staff go above and beyond every single day. We are kept in the loop with everything and [Removed] has been most gracious answering every single request and question with proficiency and professionalism. The whole family has been included and we are grateful beyond measure for the excellent care from Brookdale Port Charolette.

The brookdale team are top notch. Food is consistent with a focus on nutrition and hydration. The comment about dry food is shocking to us as we have never seen that, nor has our mom ever expressed anything but satisfaction with the portions or quality. The chef even used one of her favorite recipes to make my mom happy. Activities and outings plenty, cleaning on a regular basis, as is laundry. Couldn’t as for better care. They really do focus on quality of life for our mom. Truly, they care about everyone. It’s not about a buck. Had they not helped our mom strengthen to her potential, I don’t know she’d be with us now. We feel it important to post this review because brookdale does make a difference. Even during the hurricane. This team put the residents first. What the did before, during and even after to ensure everyone was prepared and cared for was way over and above. Special thanks to Krystal the ED and Christina the sales manager.

I lived at Brookdale Port Charlotte for A number of years. I miss everyone terribly. I’m grateful for everything they have done for me and my family. The care that I received really was the best when I had given up on myself, they refused to allow me to give up. I am doing better today only because of that stuff. I ate meals every day as did my family, on occasion. The chef gives us choices, and you never go away hungry. Rarely did I ever eat a meal I didn’t like There’s always something to do, and they are great about involving everybody and discovering what your passion is. Nothing in life is ever perfect. Anytime myself or my family have had obstacles, the management team fixed it promptly and we never had that issue again. That is something that always impressed me. I hate to be a bother. They actively solicited my input and always genuinely care if I was happy or needed anything I owe a lot to these wonderful people. I’m living in another state now, in the community is nice but I miss brookdale and I do miss my family. I would always tell families who came to visit our community how good my experience has been because it’s important the families know that their mom or dad will be well taken care of and will not just be institutionalized. Brookdale Port Charlotte does all things with love. I would always tell families who came to visit our community how good my experience has been because it’s important the families know that their mom or dad will be well taken care of and will not just be institutionalized. I am a resident and am very happy. The meals are good and we have choices if we don’t like what’s being served. We can have as much as we want. Housekeeping is good and the aids are very helpful. I have made friends with many and enjoy the activities offered. I’ve lived other places and won’t leave cause this is my home. My family is welcome anytime. They do a great job caring about us.

Our Dad can be a handful, and the staff are consistent with his care. Regardless the obstacle, mgmt. finds a way to make him happy. They go above and beyond, and we are indebted to them! They genuinely care about what they do, and tolerate unrealistic expectations, very gracefully. The mgmt. philosophy definitely trickles down. We are always impressed to see the mgrs in the trenches, with the aids and nurse, whenever the need arises. They are a team! Things aren't always perfect when dealing with personalities like our Dad, but we take comfort in knowing they actively work towards solutions. Something we never experienced at Dad's previous homes. He is happy, and we all have peace knowing they are looking after Dad, very well.

We made the difficult decision to move my ma into assisted living, and visited Brookdale Port Charlotte 3 times. We had a meals and attended an activity. We were very impressed. This staff demonstrated what we want for ma. We spoke to other residence (some that came from other communities) and all had good things to say. Management listens and meets their requests, involve them in meal planning, activity/outing plans. They even started activities that residents requested. Flexibly is what we saw! The attention to care was evident. We met with their sales manager, who was always responsive and helped us with va benefits and bridge loan options. No pressure, all compasssion and assistance, which the entire family appreciate. We did not experience that at other places! There is so much to consider when making this leap, and we must have looked every where. I can say without reservation Brookdale Port Charlotte it unique. Smaller single story, very clean, well manicured, and peaceful. You can tell this team genuinely care for their residents.

We liked Brookdale Port Charlotte. The facility was very clean. The one thing that we did not like about it was that my mother-in-law had an eighth grade education and anxiety disorder, and in order for her to take her own medication, she had to know what each pill was for. It only took three prescriptions, but that was something that with her anxiety disorder would put her over the edge. If they would have to take control of all the pills, that was like an extra $600 a month. That was the only thing that we did not like about it. The rooms were small. We were taken on a tour by one person -- the sales manager. The staff there was not as interactive with us as it was with the place where my mother-in-law was. The staff would come and clean your room once a week. They had games, cards, and transportation for shopping and doctor's appointments. They served three meals a day.

Great community! Clean, good food, warm and inviting. Customized to their residence needs and wants. They make it happen for them and promote independence, which is super important to my mom. Everyone is kind and attentive a big family, which you wont find in the larger communities. Best decision we made.

Nice place, friendly staff, pet friendly, reasonable priced and I like the apartments. Willing to work with me and very accommodating and genuine. One level is ideal and liked that it's not huge. Showers are roll-in and safety pull cords in the apartments. Take good care of my family member.

Our family visited a number of communities in Port Charlotte but kept coming back to this community. It's intimate single level, Clean, inviting, and has nursing on staff. We were happy to see residence interacting, and being involved in activities going on during our tour. This is our first experience with senior living and their sales manager was great with offering us support, and alternative financial solutions to make this affordable. They appeared to be well staffed and care about their seniors. Brookdale seems to have done a good job of compiling programs that are specialized for their senior residence. Our families strongly recommends this community.

Our family really likes this community. We looked at others in the area and kept coming back to Brookdale Port Charlotte. It is a nice intimate community, with Caring folks and nursing on staff. We were happy to see that the community was clean and didn't smell like others we had visited. The residents were doing exercises in the living room and seemed very peaceful We are new to this whole experience and the sales manager was really great about giving us solutions and explaining the wonderful programs the Brookdale has customized for their seniors. Our best advice would be to definitely at this community to your list. You will be pleasantly surprised.

I visited Brookdale Port Charlotte. They were unprofessional. The person who came out seemed almost like she was at home. There was no nametag and no welcome. Somebody else was taking a test in the room that we were supposed to have a private conversation in. They were disorganized, too. The laundry room door was open. Also, it looked like they needed to replace the tiles. There were several other issues, too. We were trying to have a conference, but it was lunchtime. So, people were coming in, and of course, the workers in the kitchen were hollering back and forth. I didn’t like the way some of the rooms were set up.

My mom is in Brookdale Port Charlotte. Brookdale is absolutely perfect. I spend a day there with my mother while she does Wii bowling. They have a team. They have wonderful happy people working there. Happy people live there. They are clean. The people there are kind and loving. The food is good. My mother is extremely happy and I am extremely happy that she is at a Brookdale facility. I can go on and on and sometimes it brings tears to my eyes because my mother is having such good care. She is 92 years old and she is so very happy. It makes me so happy to know that she getting this level of care and her day to day life is happy.

Unfortunately the Brookdale Sterling house is more interested in profit, then they are in their residents. My mother is a resident. Although the apartment was not ready for occupancy because of renovations, the "executive" director insisted we were responsible to pay rent during that time. I was told that if we didn't: "someone else would", implying the apartment would not be saved for my mother. She recently fractured her leg & was in a hospital & rehab for over 2 months. I was told I had to pay the personal device fee which include food, transportation to appointments, reminders to come for meals, activites, etc. which she was not utilizing since she was not there. I consider this immoral.

Brookdale was a very lovely place, but they did not accept Medicaid, which my mother had to have. The best thing about that place was they had like little pods or wings, and each pod had its own dining room. They had a lot of activities, which was very nice. On the second floor, they had a little area with a kitchen where they could bake cookies or pop popcorn. You could use it if your family was visiting to have a snack or something, and they had a couple of tables to sit at in there. The Baptist Church was directly across the street and a little school on the corner at the end of the street. There were a few family homes. They were very close to a lot of businesses.

Brookdale at Port Charlotte is a smaller place and people were out and about. It seemed a nice and friendly place. They provided all the services that a person would need.

I chose Brookdale Port Charlotte because of its size and location. It was small. The apartment was nice, clean, and new. The staff was nice, and the food was good. It was very clean inside and out. The grounds were well cared for.

I visited Brookdale Port Charlotte and took my mom there. First of all, it is a locked facility because they have a mixed population. Some of their population is memory care type, and they don't have an isolation area for their memory care patients. So their memory care patients are mixed with those that just need assisted living. The idea that it was just like a lockdown was kind of creepy, and I didn't like that at all. Number two is when I brought my mom for a visit, when we opened the door there were two memory care type patients. They were very agitated, and my mom started crying. She wondered if all the people there were like that. It did not, but it didn't go well. The place is absolutely very pretty. The whole idea of having a mixed population like that was kind of a turn off.

Sterling House was beautiful, clean, and bright. The staff was very pleasant. It looked like it would have been a fabulous place to be; it was just way out of my price range.

We were able to walk in at Sterling House of Port Charlotte and I was not impressed at all with that facility. You can't really walk in the front door, you need to ring the bell and someone comes and gets you which is I guess okay, but it felt very unwelcoming. When you walk in the front door, there was no really reception area. We walk right into basically a living room where there was an activity going on and there were a lot people in there so there was really no place to greet each other or even chat.

The people who showed me around at Sterling House of Port Charlotte were knowledgable. They answered many questions of my concerns. The place was very clean. This is a possibility in the future; if I need to go to someplace like that, I would choose this place. Their rooms are adequate for any need I might have. Their dining area was quite acceptable.

I was very impressed with Sterling House of Port Charlotte. This is the facility that we chose, and we are on their waiting list. It's very clean and current in its decorations. They are very friendly, and I like the fact that it was a very uplifting, positive place, while some of the others were very depressing. The woman who took me around was very pleasant and friendly, and actually I could be her friend. She was just a very nice and caring person. We had a very good rapport.

It was an excellent facility. The staff was respectful and everybody was so nice there. They have a beauty salon; I heard it’s very good. They have an exercise room, they have a pool. They have everything there and there are a lot of things to do. I think it’s the best clean place I’ve ever seen. It's a beautiful place; one should take a tour. I got to talk to some residents and they loved it there. They looked busy and I think they’re happy or they wouldn’t be there; they would be at someplace else. I am pleased.

Sterling House of Port Charlotte was clean and we liked that they only had a few residents. The staff were good although they still worked on a routine for her. They had a separate dining area and community room. She had a two bedroom apartment with a little kitchenette and bathroom. And there was a separate sitting area in the front by the fireplace. Someone came in and sang for the residents, there were exercises, they brought dogs inside, etc.

Sterling House is very attractive but they're very small and they're more like a rehab facility. There's no place to go outside of the facility, there's no place to walk. They have alarms for the back door so that I could tell that the people couldn't really go out into the backyard unless they were supervised and it's just wasn’t people-friendly enough. It's very restricted and it's not something we wanted. The staff is very nice. It was simply not the environment my mother wanted to live in at this point in her life.

We didn't like Sterling House of Port Charlotte. It was a good place for someone that's looking for that kind of facility. My brother needed a smaller community. They did have indoor activities but I didn't think they had outdoor activities. However, their staff did have good work ethic.

I wasn't too thrilled with Sterling House. Their staff was very good and their dining room looked fine. However, their rooms were small. It seemed to me that it would fit only one person.

Our visit at Sterling House was excellent. I think it was more upscale, probably more than my parents can afford. It's a very nice establishment. It has nice common areas. Their staff was excellent. Their amenities were excellent. It was just the affordability issues for us.

I came across Sterling House of Port Charlotte online and visited them for one of my parents. The facility seemed very nice when I went there. It was a fine place actually. The environment was quiet. There was a little construction work going on, but other than that it was quiet, peaceful, and people were just sitting around. I did saw an activity calendar but I didn't see any activities underway. The staff there gave me a tour of one of their rooms and I thought it was a little bit small for a single person. I also saw their menu and their menu was fine. It offers pretty much the same as every other place I visited.

Sterling House of Port Charlotte was regal. I visited the facility while I was looking for a place where my mom can stay. The rooms were decent. The dining room was always open and they had a chef who prepared the meals. The staff were amiable. The residents were busy doing different things. And there was an available van that would take the residents to shopping malls.

My mother has been in Sterling House for years. She didn't really have any negative experiences. Most of the staff was okay. I don't they are given proper food. I've seen and even tasted some of my mom's food and it's just not that nutritious. Overall, it was a pretty positive experience.
