"The Grand Villa of Sarasota didn't have a patio. Everyone was friendly and nice. The guy who gave the tour was nice. It's like a family-owned business. The tour was great. I like the rooms. They were comparable to the other facility. It made sense for what they offered to be priced the way it was. The thing that they're most proud of, which is pretty cool, is that they have a guy whose whole job is just to drive a gold Cadillac and drive people around. It will be a place where I would want to live. If you don't care about having your own outdoor space, then it's perfect. Everything was nice, and the people were having fun."

"I liked Alderman Oaks very much. It has a special appeal because my mother-in-law is someone who is active and lives in New York City now, so would need stimulation, would need places to go that are culturally significant, so being very close to and pretty much right in downtown Sarasota, it's ideal. We liked Alderman Oaks. My husband's only negative comment was that it's a little tired looking or a little worn, whether it's the rugs or the painting or whatever. He's involved in real estate, so he notices these things. I did not notice it. My mother-in-law liked it as well."

"We went to visit the Grand Villa of Englewood's independent living. It was a very nice place. I think the dining facility was very attractive, and I liked that. I also like the cleanliness of the place. It was fairly new because it had been decimated by a hurricane about a year or so before, so they had to rebuild a lot of it. The only thing I didn't care for was that the largest living space they had was maybe a thousand square feet. That would maybe be okay, but they were just building those spaces. I don't think they were operational, and the ones they showed us were the 500 square feet ones. My wife and I don't like being in a space that small, and that's another reason we are not really excited about moving. I also have a lot of beautiful heirlooms and furniture, and if I move to another place, I'd have to get rid of half of it. I'm not looking forward to that. The staff was excellent and very good. The guy who gave the tour was very good, too."

"DeSoto Palms had nice rooms, but the only one they get on Medicaid is a shared room with a shared bathroom. My mother wanted her own bathroom. Their dining room was like hotel-restaurant dining. They had the same basic activities, i.e., card playing, bingo, trips, and going out to eat. "

"I love it here. My room is perfect. The staff is always there for us. We have water aerobics, bingo, card and board games, outings, movies, and parties. The food os wonderful."

"The Alloro at University Groves is new and modern. It is great. Everybody is over 55. However, it is just too expensive. On the plus side, they have kitchens with high-quality appliances than most rentals. They have very nice hallways. They have storage space in the apartments, which is very good. They have a decent gym and a big enough pool where you can do laps. It was clean. The spaces were small for their units, but the staff was great. It was a beautiful building."

"We like the little apartment villas at The Gallery at North Port. I love them because it felt like it was more of a home. You get storage and there's more space. I felt more like how we live now because we got a pretty large house and going down to a tiny little place doesn't work in my head. The other one I love about them is it's right next to that amazing shopping area, restaurants, and everything. The people there were very, very friendly and very nice. The lady who showed us around was lovely. It's nice and it's also peaceful."

"What I liked the most about Elan Manatee Assisted Living & Memory Care was the staff. They were amazing to work with and the place was beautiful and very clean. The outdoor spaces were very well taken care of. They have a beauty/barbershop, a cute little place for coffee and bagels, a library, a game room, and a theater room. The apartments were very spacious, very clean, very bright, and airy, too."

"My mother was a resident of Inspired Living. She came to the community in need of care, and the nurses and aides were wonderful, Her health improved greatly. It was an assisted living community, and it didn't provide the kind of activities necessary to keep my mother stimulated and active. That was frustrating for her, so that's why she wanted to move out. I thought it was good value considering all that they did for the residents. They provided wonderful care for my mother."

"My mother will be moving in. Everybody was awesome and very kind. The residents were well taken care of. Everybody looked awesome. It didn't smell. It smelled great. We went through the dining room at lunchtime, and the food looked awesome. My mom's apartment is gorgeous. It's one bedroom with a balcony, so she can sit out outside any time she wants. I loved everything about it. The dining area was clean and well-lit. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The residents appeared happy. They were very friendly and outgoing. They were the kind of people I wanted my mom to be around. The people that work there are nice too. They offer meals. They have trips that they go on, games, a card area, a game room, and bingo. It looked like a very active lifestyle for somebody who was 90 years old. I'd like to move in there. It looks so much nicer than my house. Plus, they have housekeeping."

"I'm hoping my mother can move into Heartis Venice. It was larger than the other two places I've been to, so it was more institutionalized size-wise, but it did not look like a typical nursing home. It looked like an apartment building for seniors. The staff was friendly. I have seen the dining area for memory care. It's more like a cafeteria setting, nice intimate tables, and a table for the food where the residents can choose what they wanted, or if they didn't like what was served that day, they could special order. They have games, they have puzzle rooms, they have a library, physical therapy, a gym area, and they have a full calendar. I didn't read exactly what they have, but they're doing something almost every hour."

"We spoke to an associate from the facility who gave us so much information about the facility and how the admission process worked in general. She was so h lpful that we are assessing our situation more informed."

"WOW!! This community is in the perfect location. My mom can walk around for a downtown stroll. We had ice cream that is across the street from her new home, and the activities they offer are ongoing throughout the day. Her first week she was there they hopped on their bus and had breakfast on the beach. This community is exactly what we were looking for. The staff really want to be there, its evident! "

"San Marco have people that work on the property in case of emergency, but they're more independent living than assisted. They do have a bus that comes in once a week that would take the residents to the grocery store. "
