"When mom first had her stroke, she was in Consulate of Port Charlotte. I had some problems with billing and administration. She fell when she first went in there like two to three times and had to be rushed to emergency. She didn’t realize she couldn’t walk and tried to get up. She had several accidents there. The dining area was clean, and the food was good. The nursing staff and the social workers were really good and kind and did good things. The beauty shop was good. In the end it was really good; I just moved my mom as it was more convenient to where I worked. "

"My husband has moved into Douglas Jacobson State Veterans Nursing Home. He's in there because he's a veteran, and he's with all the other veterans. So, they have people to talk to, and it's very nice. They play bingo, do a lot of activities, and they have televisions all over. He's with men, and they're taking very good care of him. The staff are very kind, and thoughtful, and they communicate with you very nicely if you have any questions. It's very clean and there are just a lot of activities for them. The facility is beautiful. They wash his clothes and take very good care of him. His room is clean, and the food is good. They've got big televisions and a lot of men with hats on with the service that they were in. There is a great deal of paperwork involved to get him in there."

"This is the best nursing home I have ever seen. I put my great grandpa in here and he loves it. I love the work and care. The CNA'S and Nurse's are loving and caring. They are always working hard and busy but yet they still have time for my grandpa. I love this place and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nursing home "

"When my husband needs skilled nursing care, Sunset Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center was the only one that I felt I really want to keep him in. It is close to our home. He has been there about a month now and he has seemed well adjusted. He has a large room there. Just before he moved in, they did a total refurbishment of their entire building inside. Everything is freshly painted. All is new floors and walls. Everything is all smooth and even, shiny and pretty. They also re-did their garden and it is beautiful. What I like best about this facility is that all of their staff, whatever their position, are always smiling. This is what I like best about this facility. There are also a lot of different activities for people to participate in. They do cook-outs and they have different types of musical concerts almost every week. They also have church services there. A lot of their residents are all smiles being there. "

"I visited Signature HealthCARE of Port Charlotte. The place was clean, and the staff was friendly. I think if there is one thing they needed to improve on it was the amount of nursing staff that they have. Overall, the place was very good. "

"My aunt was at Capri Health & Rehabilitation Center for a couple of months and did not like it there. I thought it was a wonderful facility. It was very clean. I thought the staff was wonderful. My aunt felt isolated there, and she hated the food. She just was not happy there. I found it to be a wonderful facility, but I wasn't a patient there. I thought it was excellent, and I was there quite a bit. My aunt did not participate in anything. She was very depressed. Her room was nice though. She did rehab there, but she couldn't do any of the exercise things, and she didn't go to any of the games or activities that they had there. She just pretty much stayed in her room."

"This review is for the rehab section. My Mom spent almost 2 weeks here after being released from the hospital. The nurses and aids and PO and OT personnel were professional and helpful. The room was clean and adequate storage was provided for her needs. You do need to be an advocate as far as needs not normally performed--- daily BP checks and lab work ordered by outside doctors. My Mom enjoyed the food and I was able to eat lunch with her at no extra cost. The case worker Linda was wonderful and accommodating, as the assisted living facility we were transferring her to across state required numerous forms, emails etc."

"The lady who helped me at Pinebrook was very helpful, but that was a skilled nursing facility and not an ALF. It is just very tired looking, and it is like it hadn't been redone since 1980s or something; that's why it didn't appeal to me at all. I didn't see any activities going on there. This is a place I just visited, and my dad didn't go there. My overall impression is there wasn't any activity going on, and it is a nursing home as opposed to the assisted living facility that my dad is in. They don't really have activities in nursing home because most people are confined to their room. That is of course what I saw; they were in their rooms. Everything looked very old. There is one little television from the 1980s. It just looks like it really needs some serious updating. I just didn't like that at all, but the staff was very helpful and very accommodating in answering all of my questions. The impression that they gave is wonderful, but that is not the impression the building gives. "

"My mom is currently in Rehab in Heritage Health Care Center and she'll be there for at least 3 months. We chose this facility because they had a bed immediately available to her. Because she has a very serious situation and it's a place like a wound care center close by. She also has Dementia. We like the community because it's pretty much close to where we live so we can visit her any time. My mom is treated very well in this facility and I love it. They are excellent. It's not a brand new facility but it's very clean and the people are really friendly. Although she's in a lot of pain right now and she really doesn't know what's happening, anyway she'll be 88. The food is terrible there. They have to puree her meal because she doesn't chew well and they are doing a speech therapy for that. The wound care doctor said she'll be there for at least 3 months, probably more. She's not gonna be able to live by her self ever again and I don't know what's gonna happen next. Nevertheless I would recommend this facility to others. "

"My mom lives at Village on the Isle. The experience has been very positive and the care has been excellent. The staff and the leadership have been friendly to her, and I think she's getting the best care possible. The food is OK, and you can have as much as you want. They have activities everyday like drives, visits to the beach, lunch outings, musical activities where they bring in singers, games like Bingo, and dominoes. The price is competitive."

"Life Care is excellent but its staff needs to keep in closer touch with the patients. This facility can improve on their staff ratio per patient. If they don't have enough staff to keep a close eye on the patients, it's hard for the quality of service to be as good as when they have more staff per patient. "

"We were impressed with Glenridge, but we had some concerns. One is that they have separate buildings and the dining rooms are all in one building, and then most of the units are in separate buildings which means no matter what the weather is, you've got to get over to the main building for a meal or for the activities. Otherwise, it was a lovely place. They took us into an empty assisted living area. We went in saw the common areas, but I don't think we saw any of the rooms like the dining room. The ones that we saw were mostly volunteers who are residents there who are involved in the tours. They seem to have a lot of visiting performers, like musical performers or people who come in and talk about health issues. They have good series of programs and they have a lot of clubs for different interests. I think the people who live there seem to have had interesting careers, are well traveled, well-educated, and have a lot of talent. There was a lot of artwork on the walls that some of the residents were on display and they seem to be pretty talented. "

"My husband is in Brookdale Palmer Ranch. The healthcare is superb. The people that attend to the people that need help are just amazing. He needed a lot of help, and they have got him back on his feet. He is now walking around with a cane. He had physical therapy. They have a happy hour everyday, which is very pleasant. There are only 65 people in the assisted living, so it is actually nice because you get to know more of the people. They play bingo, and they also play bridge. It seemed adequate. There is enough to do. The people who run it are very personable. They know everybody by name. It is very well done. One thing they can improve on is the food. "

"Bay Village of Sarasota is better than most places I went to. Their assisted living and independent living programs are terrific, but their skilled nursing set up is not good; it's not well-decorated or furnished, but I know they had a plan to rebuild it. It's 30 years old, and it looks older. The food is better than other places. They're among the best, but in some cases, they're not very good. They have wonderful events, theater productions, movies, and they go out a lot. It's a really advanced model of care. The assisted living and independent living are pretty much the same, they both share the same dining room, and in the independent living you can cook in your own kitchen if you want to, but most of the residents don't do that, they just spend an extra $400 and go down to the dining room. They do a good job. The staff there is better than other places."

"Clean, professional environment. The Springs has a well-educated and responsive staff that is reliable and knowledgeable. The facility has great tools and a gym for rehabilitation, and maintains their equipment to a high standard. Although, the rooms and hallways are basic, the Springs features great amenities including a beautiful dining room overlooking a very nice lake, a mini-golf course, and a living room that's good for mingling. All in all, the Springs is a respectable facility, and the care is top-notch. Convenient to stop by for visits with the family, the rooms are large enough to accommodate family gatherings. Most importantly, your loved ones will be well cared for by a thoughtful staff. "
