Nursing Home Communities in Bradenton, FL

"I toured Freedom Village of Bradenton. We started with an overview of what the community was, what I would be experiencing, and what I was looking for. We started through the foyer, and there was one section where it was the dining room with a little cafe and a breakfast area, and then we went to a possible apartment. As I was going through, there was a walkway that was closed in, and on both sides, I was able to see the outside and what I would be seeing every day walking back and forth. We had to walk through a beautiful foyer. We went to the elevator, we saw the apartment, and I went through everything in the apartment. It has everything. It's very fancy and very attractive. Then we went to see another apartment, so I saw two apartments, and they were very similar. One was a little smaller, and one was a little bigger. We went to the dining room, and she explained that it was right on the floor where I would be. The staff sent me home with some information and an estimate of what it would cost. I saw some of the activities while walking through right at the very beginning of the first building. There was a classroom, a sewing room, a group meeting doing a prayer group, and a Bible study. There was a hairdresser room, a swimming pool, and an exercise room. I was able to see it more on the second tour. I saw people doing the activities and even a woodworking shop for the men. They could bring their own tools if they wanted to. I was impressed because it wasn't just dealing with ladies, and that was very, very nice. The staff asked me what I was interested in, and so she the took time to find out why I was looking for independent living. And she invited me to an open house that they just happened to be having a couple of weeks later, so I went with that and met many people. Every table had a resident who was there to help us and answer some of the questions that we may have while we were sitting there, and the one I had was extremely pleasant. She gave her card, and she said, 'When you come, call me a couple of days before, while I'll make sure we will have much together, and I'll introduce you to some of my friends. That way, at least for the first couple of days, you have somebody that you could sit with.' Very, very hospitable. They take care of you and help you be comfortable. I took another tour, and I saw more people in the hallway that day, and they all said hello and everything. My sister came with me, and then she had gotten to a point that she couldn't walk anymore, and so she sat right there and two people came over to her. One says, 'Hello, how are you doing? Is there anything I can do for you? Can I get you a drink or anything?' This was a staff. The second person came over a little while later and he says, 'Hello, are you moving in?' She said she was looking at the apartments and she says, 'Oh, isn't this a lovely place? I have been here six years, and I have no regrets.' And she had a conversation with her, and I found that very impressive and she found it very impressive, too. I found everybody very, very helpful and very friendly."

"We had an in-person tour of Brookdale Palmer Ranch. It was an excellent tour. It's an older facility, but considering its age, it is well-kept and clean. The staff was excellent. We spent quite a while with her, and she was very thorough. It was a studio that we looked at. It was small but clean."

"My mom was well taken care of while in rehab for a fall. The nurses and aides we're kind and gentle. Her PT went well and allowed her to leave earlier than expected. Our area was very clean and smelled good! My father while visiting mom had an accident in the bathroom, an aide found some clean clothes from somewhere which allowed him to stay with mom. The aides cleaned up the mess and were sympathetic and kind to my dad as well. "

"I am a long-time resident of Westminster Manor and am happier today than I was 12 years ago when I moved in...and I was very happy then. I cannot say enough good things about the Manor. My husband and I are in a villa, therefore independent residents but we know when the time comes for further care, it is there. No moving, just shifting to another area/room in the facility. The staff is amazing. They are professional, competent, caring and friendly. The meals are delicious, beautiful and varied. The dining staff takes great pains to satisfy the needs of all of us...and that's a real challenge. We rarely "eat out" because the food is so good at the Manor. We have more fun, educational, creative activities than you can imagine and more than a person could possibly do all of! The facilities are kept clean and in good maintenance condition. The relationship we have with the staff is amazing...very much like family. We have recommended that our friends consider and come to Westminster Manor and will continue to do so. Is it perfect? Of course not...it is made up of human beings, but it would be hard to find a better place for this time of life. As I said, we are extremely happy and would encourage anyone looking for a retirement community to check out the Manor!"

"My family member absolutely loves it here. She said that throughout this pandemic she has felt very safe. The staff does everything they can to make her comfortable, even shopping for her once a week. They have really done a wonderful job of ensuring that anyone that comes into the building is safe to be around all the residents. I am grateful for them everyday. "

"My great aunt has been living here for the past two years and she really likes it there. I visit about two times per month. I bring my toddlers along with me and and it is not a problem. The staff is friendly and upbeat each time that I have been there. They have fairly open visiting hours (I don't remember them exactly, but I have never been refused seeing her and when she has been late getting back from family functions and events outside of the facility there is also not a problem upon her return). The rooms and public areas are decorated very nicely and the food service seems to be good there. The facility always smells nice and residents seem to be happy and have a good relationship with the staff. There are also courtyards and common areas for residents to mingle and spend time with each other or alone outside of their rooms. The staff is also quick to respond when the resident uses the call button. They also alert family/guardians to any changes and/or medical events that are minor or severe in a timely manner. The only two suggestions that I would have is to tighten security a little more. I think that it may be completely possible for someone to steal from the resident's rooms. However, the best security is also mostly undetected. I can't remember seeing cameras or security staff. The only other suggestion is to improve the exterior grounds and parking lot. The outside of the building needs some maintenance and the foliage could use some trimming to make it seem like a happier place and match the inside more. "
