"My mom is in Sunny Bower, and it is great. It is a very small facility, but it is wonderful. It is an old house. It is very cozy and comfortable, and they have wonderful people there. I think there are 16 residents, and then they do adult day care. I highly recommend them because I have a lot of experience with them, and they are wonderful. Mom's been going there for adult day care for 3 years, and then she went there permanently last June. She's been there a year, and she's doing great. It is very well staffed, and the people they have there have been there for 12 years. The owners are there every day. They have an activities person that comes in 7 days a week, and they have all sorts of things. They have music, exercise, videos, singing, bingo, and more. They take people themselves to doctor's appointments, and they have people that come and pick residents up to take them to Walmart to go shopping, but they don't have excursions. It is a very modest place. It is not a fancy place. My mother is in a room that doesn't have a bathroom, but she has a bathroom 5 feet outside her room, and there are a number of rooms that have their own bathrooms. There are a couple of shared rooms. There is a big living room, and there are 2 beautiful screened in porches -- one in the back of the house and one in front of the house. They have beautiful grounds, and the back of the house is under live oak trees. It is really beautiful, very warm, and comfortable. They have a big dining room where all the residents eat together. The food is very good, and most of it are made from scratch. At night, when the residents are up, they have ice cream and cookies. Because it is small, it can be very specialized for each individual resident. It is in the beautiful neighborhood. It is a huge residential neighborhood. "

"Meals on Wheels Plus is the lead agency for Manatee county, Florida and provides a variety of services from meals to transportation, respite, adult day care, support groups and other services. It is well run and enjoys strong community support. There are not a lot of services available In the county and this one is critical to the aging population. "

"My husband was able to go to an adult daycare facility called Town Square Sarasota, and that was fantastic. He loved being there. He was happy. Everyone who had Alzheimer's or dementia could have the opportunity to go to Town Square because it is fantastic. They are the best. They're just wonderful. They care about each person. They made each person feel like they were being loved and taken care of. They have kept everyone busy. Every hour they have another program that they do all day. They're just very caring, wonderful people. They have sing-alongs, trivia games, puzzles, bingo, bowling, billiards, and plays. They have games of all different kinds. They had programs that they did on different informational things. Every day, they had something that they will do. One day it was on Veterans and another day it was on dancing. They had dancers come in. They have a handout of what happens every hour and every day to the people that are there, so it's well worth contacting or having sent to you. You could see what kinds of activities going on all day long. They have lunch and they have snacks. Most of the time, if there was something that I knew they were serving that my husband couldn't eat, I would tell them, and they would not give it to him. They'd have something else. They're better than better. It's a brand new facility and I feel they take good care of it."

"My mother has been in the nursing home memory ward on the 2nd floor for 2 years. I moved her to Menorah Manor from another facility and am pleased with the move. As a result of a fall and brain injury she went from living alone to to requiring full skilled care. The food is very good, and she has a nice clean private room. The nurse practitioner on staff is very good, and they also have a full time psychologist, which is a nice feature because many residents are subject to depression, etc. The Medical Director is outstanding, and the management and administrative staff are very good - the fact that some of them have their own relatives residing here is comforting. There are many activities available but she is unable to participate fully due to her condition. All of the CNAs seem OK - some of them are great; some are OK but seem overwhelmed or jaded and are probably in the wrong profession - it takes special people to work in these circumstances. It is more expensive than the place I moved her from, but definitely worth the additional cost. A lower ratio of residents per CNA would be desirable, but for the price I think the situation is acceptable. "

The program provides healthcare, socialization, activities and nutritional care for seniors in a warm, compassionate environment.
