My grandmother is a resident here, I recently visited her this past weekend. Upon entering the facility, I was greeted immediately with a friendly hello. That is something she talked about most, the staff. She talked about was how the staff is so nice and caring to her and all residents. Also, she loves going to Happy Hour and bingo! The wonderful music and lots of new friends, my grandmother seems so happy in her new home. Thank you Aravilla

Mom recently became a resident at Aravilla. She is enjoying her stay and has already met a nice circle of friends. The facility has a very welcoming feel as the layout is conducive to a high level of interaction amongst guests as they have centralized the activity spaces, dining, bistro and physical therapy areas within reasonable proximity. The pool area allows for aquatic activities as well as a nice poolside gathering area. The staff has been very pleasant, approachable and responsive to all inquiries.

The rooms are very nice. My mom had a lovely view. The facility is so lovely, it feels more like a nice hotel or cruise ship than an assisted living facility. The food is good. Mom loves the variety of soups. Lots of fun activities; crafts, painting etc. and the happy hour at 4:00 with musical entertainment is so enjoyable. The staff have gone out of their way to make everything nice for my mom. They have addressed my questions and concerns promptly and informatively. We really appreciate their care and personal support for both my mom and we as family in this transition. I’m very grateful my mom has been able to stay here.

I toured Aravilla Sarasota. Everything was nice. The person who showed me around was very pleasant. I liked the place, but it was a lot more expensive, and that was the main reason why I didn't choose it. The rooms were very nice, but they're smaller, and so that made a difference. I looked at what they do on a daily basis, and it looked like it was good. They had a swimming pool. It was a good layout.

My mother-in-law decided to do a 30-day trial stay at Aravilla, and it was a wonderful experience for her. The food was very good, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, the facilities were excellent, and there were always fun activities going on that she enjoyed a lot. Her stay there was the most relaxed and contented I've ever seen her. I highly recommend it!

My first visit was earlier this year when my family was looking for a new home for our mom. I was impressed by the people working there and the quality of services provided and the food. We decided to bring her here. Ever since, I have NOT regretted at all. This is the best place for our mom.

Aravilla provided the absolute best possible care for my Father. In a matter of just a few weeks he was referring to Aravilla as his "home" and "the resort". All of the staff knew him, and me by name. They were respectful, and caring, and helped my dad and I through a very difficult time. I have to recommend signing up with Bluestone medical services as well. Through them, my dad had regular visits by a doctor in his room, and were able to adjust his care accordingly. They were able to conduct X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests, and doctor visits all in his room, without having to schedule outside trips and transportation. I live in Texas, and the communication from Aravilla and Bluestone were terrific. I always knew what the status of my Father and his care were, even with medications and medical visits by the doctors. I was told while looking, that Aravilla was the best facility in Sarasota. Having actually stayed there with my Father many days and nights, I know this reptuation to be true. I am so thankful to the Aravilla staff for their care of my Father, when I couldn't be there.

After an exhaustive search of memory care facilities in Sarasota, I chose Aravilla for my wife for several reasons: (1) it is the only facility with a floor dedicated to transitional memory care. Every other local facility has only advanced dementia/Alzheimer care, (2) the transitional care floor was built ~ 5 years ago and was designed specifically for transitional memory care, including (a) "front porches" for each room, (b) central atrium open to the sky with walking path, benches, plants, (c) a "yellow brick road" oval walking path that runs almost the entire length of the building, (3) the Executive Director has 30 years experience and is a dedicated, caring individual (4) the Director of Admissions and many of the other staff have been with Aravilla since it opened, (5) extensive programs specifically for transitional memory care including yoga classes, lunches at nearby restaurants, etc., (6) on-site 24/7 nurses, physical therapists, and full time care givers. My experiences have exceeded my hopes and expectations. All of the staff is dedicated, cares about each individual resident, understands and supports family. members.

My mother moved into Aravilla Memory Care in 2019 after a thorough search of the Sarasota area. In light of COVID and the recent hurricane I’ve never been happier with the choice. The first time visiting seeing the little porches in front of each room made a warm impression as the residents use them to socialize. The various daily activities are stimulating and residents are engaged throughout the day. My mother enjoys the meals and staff know exactly what she likes. Visiting the swan pond and birds each day is a treat. The residents also have the opportunity for group lunches off site as well as mystery rides on the bus. I am grateful every day my mother is at Aravilla so well cared for by compassionate staff who in my experience treat residents like family, and am elated at the level of preparedness everyone at Aravilla displayed in assuring residents as well as the their own families safety during this past hurricane. The majority of staff are long term. They alert family if there are any concerns at all. Thank you Aravilla for providing not only an engaging home for memory care but the safest place for my mother, she considers everyone there her friend - both residents and staff.

My cousin found everyone in Aravilla Sarasota more than anxious to be helpful in both the move-in as well as adjusting to the facility. He particularly enjoyed that everyone was willing and anxious to help and volunteered to help in all aspects. The food is excellent and the service at the dining facility is more than adequate. He enjoys that it is much like going and eating at a restaurant, which gives the sense of you as an individual, not just a cog in the wheel. His room is generous in the amount of space that he needs for his everyday activities, particularly since he's wheelchair-bound for much of the time. The room is accessible to those who are in a wheelchair, as well as those who need a walker. He looks forward to engaging in some of the activities, as there seem to be activities most of the time that people can enjoy. He enjoyed being in the happy hour and he looks forward to using the swimming pool, even though he has oxygen demand, but the facility has said that can be accommodated. There are outdoor spaces that include a small lake with a walking path or strolling area, which he finds adequate and hopes to be able to use it. He's found that the facility is very willing to make adjustments in the rooms, too, like the height of the closet hangers or any adjustments to the rooms to accommodate the needs of the individual. He's grateful that people have offered to put together pieces of the furniture that he needs to install. So in general, maintenance has been very adaptable to all of his needs and responds rather quickly to any issues that have arisen.

My dad moved in to Aravilla at the end of July 2021. At the time he had a multitude of physical ailments which made it difficult to move around. He was also in some pain. He had many doctors appointments and therapies coming in! Since that time his physicality has improved a great deal. I feel at this time he is getting used to the life style at Aravilla snd is liking it. The rooms are really nice. He has a living space, kitchenette and bedroom and very large walk in closet and bathroom. The view out his window is wonderful as it’s a water view and it’s what he’s used to. I think he’s very comfortable there. I spent a lot of time at Aravilla when he first moved in so had a lot of interactions with the staff as well as the residents. Everyone was extremely friendly and very willing to help ! Of course moving in the first place is a huge step for a 91 year old man , and it will and does take some time and patience for him and I would think anyone to get used to the new environment !! Given the fact that my father was not in the best of shape upon arrival at Aravilla he did not take advantage of the many wonderful activities offered at Aravilla. There is Happy Hour with live entertainment every day, there are activities going on all day in the main lobby, as well as weekly trips to different places in the community. I think my dad has started to take advantage of some of these activities as he feels better physically. When I came to look at Aravilla ( more than once) I was impressed by the fact that the residents were out and about. The lobby area was always crowded with people: taking part in Bingo or a word game or exercise class, or playing pool or reading the newspaper. It felt lively and the residents seemed happy!!

I thought that Aravilla Sarasota Assisted Living was really nice. The rooms were larger, the outside grounds were not as spacious as the other one I toured, but it still was very nice. The only reason why I would choose one over the other is the price. The other place was more affordable than Arabella. Everybody's very nice, the place was gorgeous, and it's clean. I like how the memory care facility is almost like a racetrack. It's kind of oval shaped, so when you're walking, it's almost like you're on a track so you know where you're going. They have a little porch in each one of the front doors, so it almost looks like you're going into their little house. It's really cute.

My wife was admitted to Aravilla in April. I am very pleased here at Aravilla. My wife was very desponded at her other facility. She did not participate in any events, here at Aravilla my wife is never in her apartment. She is out all day long. Patricia was in a photo in their newsletter last month and she was painting a vase, she had the prettiest and best smile on. I have not seen that smile in years, I had the photo laminated to have it in my wallet to show off to all! Thank you Dawn and your staff for your professional care.

Do not consider Aravilla Sarasota. Management and staff are unable to communicate efficiently within the facility, let alone with family members. Patient dignity is nonexistent. My father was transported to ER for covid-19 without glasses or dentures, resulting in significant weight loss. I discovered this over a week later, when I picked up my father’s belongings and found glasses and dentures in dirty vase!

My husband has been a resident for 3+ years and our experience has been good. His room is comfortable and the common facilities are spacious and pleasantly decorated. Staff is caring and kind and work hard to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. There are several activities every day, and there is live music every day. COVID has been a challenge but Aravilla has done an excellent job keeping everyone safe. It has been difficult to have everyone in lockdown, but they have posted pictures and sent messages to us so that we can "participate". I highly recommend.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Aravilla, its beautiful building and campus, and the loving caregivers, from the reception desk, to the nursing staff, to the wait staff, everyone one in between. Carol, the live-on-premises manager, cheerfully goes out of her way to accommodate residents' and families' requests. Mom moved here from a wonderful facility in NY, and our family was amazed that Aravilla was even better than Mom's place in NY (and much less expensive!). The facility is bright and cheerful, with a variety of activity areas including a sports bar, piano, 3 dining rooms, craft studio, hair and nail salon, pool, exercise room, small balconies overlooking the beautiful grounds, and several additional living room areas on each floor. Mom has a beautiful one bedroom apartment with high ceilings and large windows. Mom enjoys spending her time between activities relaxing on the large covered patio with comfortable furniture and even a summer kitchen. There are several garden areas which encourage residents to get exercise walking around the campus. The nursing staff is responsive, patient, and loving. Aravilla remains Covid free, and there is a very specific and well considered plan of action should anyone test positive. Aravilla deserves only the highest praise for the perfect balance of professionalism and loving care they provide.

Wow!!! Aravilla has remained Covid-19 Free since this unique situation came to "A Head", back in March, and Lock-Downs for Seniors (where my Father Lives"), have been followed very strictly (not to his apartment, but within the facility where residents continue to enjoy safe and happy activities). Routine Doctor appts &/or emergent care for residents are all in place via Covid-19 Free staff that transport to each and every appt..Aravilla staff are very vigilent about taking their senior residents to ALL scheduled appts..and the same Covid-19 free staff shop for the residents as needed because the routine shuttle service has been discontinued until the Governor indicates otherwise. Not one Covid-19 case at Aravilla with staff or the residents. This facility is like none I have ever experienced for a place for our Father to live. The staff are phenominal and Miss Carol C., Aravilla Sarasota Director, has truly gone above and beyond to ensure the health and welfare of both Residents and staff. If you are searching for a facility for a loved one, be it assisted or memory care, we cannot say enough about Aravilla, Sarasota - they care so much and no cases of Covid-19 to date with residents or staff. Thank You so much Miss Carol C. for doing an awesome job taking care of our Father during these really strange and unusual times. Oh yeah - one more thing..I failed to mention that Director C. lives at the facility (same floor my father resides on), so she can be available to all residents 24/7, as well as keep a watchful eye on ALL Operations..U GO GIRL!!!

We will always remember your dedication, your wisdom, your compassion and grace. We knew that our mom was always in good hands. We are so thankful and grateful for each and everyone in the Aravilla "family" for the loving care you gave to our mom for 3 1/2 years. Sometimes a family needs that extra special touch that only people who really care can give, we found that in each one of you. Thank you for dedicating your life to helping others.

My mother is a resident at Aravilla Assisted Living. The facility is lovely with very spacious and well maintained apartments and outdoor spaces. Every member of the staff is caring and does their best to make sure that the residents are happy and well cared for. I have been very impressed with the way that Carol and the rest of the staff have helped my mother make the transition from her house to Aravilla. They have gone above and beyond. The daily activities are very engaging. Since the COVID-19 epidemic began they have done an outstanding job both protecting their residents and still keeping them engaged and entertained during the quarantine. I highly recommend Aravilla to any family looking for a senior living solution for their loved one.

My mother is a current resident of Aravilla. I moved her to FL from NJ almost a year ago. She has lived in other assisted living facilities, so I can speak from experience that I have not found a more caring, beautiful, and comfortable place for my mother than what she has at Aravilla in Sarasota. The environment reminds me more of a resort than an assisted living facility. From the sports bar, the beautiful decor and dining rooms, the baby grand piano and the large screen TVs and granite counter tops, no detail was overlooked. My moms room is comfortable and includes a huge walk-in closet, pretty cabinets, and best of all, no key required to open the door. She just gets close to the door and it unlocks for her, making easy access for both her and her walker. The shower does not require stepping in/out, so safety and functionality were considered when this building was constructed. My mom’s favorite place to be is in the community room, where she sits with the other residents watching movies. I’m happy she ventures out of her room and sits with her new friends rather than staying in her room. She only started doing this at Aravilla. What I find most remarkable about Aravilla, however, is the staff. You can have a facility with all the modern bells a whistles, but without a staff that truly cared, it would just be another facility. I have met so many lovely and caring staff members over the past year. I am grateful to each and every one of them, especially during this very difficult period - Covid-19. Not only are they caring, but I know my mom could not be in a safer place than where she currently is. So thank you to each and every staff member for your vigilance and keeping our loved ones safe.

Food: Very good however it is served institution style not restaurant style. There is inconsistency between the same dish time to time. And the menu doesn't describe the dish correctly. Staff: Very good but doesn't get the support and training it could have if part of a larger corp. Facilities: Very good, except it lacks a large meeting room. Value: Average since it probably has the highest prices in town. Activities: Average but was excellent until it changed Directors.

Aravilla is a friendly and helpful place to both the residents and their families. The staff goes out of their way to assist in so many ways. I stopped in, without an appointment, and was totally impressed as was my mother when she toured. The residents appear happy and well feed! The food is excellent and the dining areas are comfortable and attractive. I recommend you take a tour and see for yourself. I also appreciated the easy to understand terms and costs of securing a unit. My mother enjoys her unit and has an independent social life with all the activities that are offered.

The sales team was aloof, and their interest in our family completely eroded once we told them my mom had received a diagnosis of dementia. Although we'd visited the community not once, but twice, no one ever had the decency to return our calls once it became clear my mom wouldn't qualify for assisted living. And while the latter space is quite nice, memory care is grim and depressing. Overall a seriously disappointing experience.

We've chosen Aravilla Sarasota for my mother, she's independent but on medication. My impression of this place is very positive. Tonight we're joining my mom and the other residents for a Christmas party at Aravilla, so we're looking forward to that. She enjoys the food, she's met some very nice people, and she's in a very lovely place. The grounds are beautiful, and the rest of the community was not too much farther from where she was before. So that works out for us. Mom has participated in a couple of activities, and they also provide entertainment. They have programs as well, and she hasn't made use of the transportation yet but they have that.

During my quick tour, the place seemed very clean and nice. The sales person I talked to seemed nice.

It is a beautiful facility, there’s a lot of caring people, and our first impressions were very good. They’ve been wonderful. We toured a lot of facilities and of all these facilities, this one was we’ve heard a lot good things. The administration was extremely attentive and very visible. They have activities everywhere -- they take them out to lunch, they take them out on mystery bus tours. They have a lot of activities.

The community was new and everything was beautiful. They had a nice setup with the hallways, but it did not seem suitable for my mother-in-law. I didn’t think the grounds would have been as nice as for her to get out. It was very small, and kind of limited. If she would be on the second floor, she would be confined. The ceilings of the rooms were very high, they had fans going, but most elderly people do not like ceiling fans.

Thank you for your review Barbara. In our community the hallways are spacious and have many comfortable seating areas along the way to sit and relax in, with welcoming porches that lead into just a small portion of their living area . Being on the second floor is a preference for some of our residents that have come from living in apartments and condos. Our residents can go freely throughout the community and can also enjoy the court yard area and several lovely patio areas, as the entire living area is safe and secure. We have also an expanded outdoor area where our residents can watch the swans from the gazebo. Our ceilings are higher so our residents don’t feel closed in which often occurs with dementia. The ceiling fans in the rooms are mainly for circulation and your right most of the time our residents turn them off and adjust the temperature in their room to a personal comfortable setting.

It is a big facility, brand new, and the rooms are very large and spacious. It was nicely decorated and had more the feeling of a hotel than a care facility. It was very cheerful inside. It had two floors, and the outdoor space was limited.
Provider Response
Thanks you for your kind words. We have just added swans to the pond area, offering an expanded outdoor area for our residents.

My wife is already in the community. It was recommended by a friend of mine. What they primarily have is memory care; most residents are memory care clients. They have two stories, and it is beautifully decorated. There is a therapy group right there at the center, plus they have a beauty shop and a nurses’ station. It is kept clean, and they wash their clothes. It is a little expensive, I think, but it was the finest one I could find; of all those that I looked at, I thought it was the cleanest. They provided the bed, and I provided the TV and a few other things. They have a walkway that goes around in a circle where the clients can walk around what they call the Yellow Brick Road; it’s very nice. And they also have a center atrium with plants in the middle where you can walk out and still be in a controlled environment, which is very beautiful. In addition to therapy, they have activities or exercises, and I think that at least twice a day, they have something going on for all of the clients. My wife doesn’t participate in most of them; she just wants to sit and read, and she is really hard to get to do things, but she does walk the Yellow Brick Road. In my judgment, the staff is very good people, and they seem very conscientious about what they are doing. I ate there once, and I think they are very good. They have assigned seats -- four to a table -- and the same people sit at the table every day. My wife gets out of the room to the table and is served. The big meal is the lunch meal, which I feel is inappropriate, but they get to select some different things. For the most part, I think it is very tasty. They also have snacks available.

Thank you so much for your kind & thoughtful review. We make the main meal lunch at Autumn because it is healthier for our residents. However, if you feel the portions are too large for your wife, we will be more than happy to give her portions sizes that are best for her, just talk to Carol or our nurse on duty. Thanks again!

It was for higher needs. There weren't a whole lot of people there that were able to interact independently. The food was good, they had several dining rooms, and it was a nice eating experience. They had music for people who like that, and they had live music come in. They have all kinds of activities, but my father didn't take part. The rooms had private bathrooms, and some of them had little porches. It was safe, clean, and pretty well tended to. However, it had a difficult system for getting into the rooms, and for memory challenged people, it's kind of difficult. He wasn't very well attended there because he didn't need a whole lot of assistance. They didn't make sure that he changed his clothes when he should have.

It is a brand new facility, and it is privately owned. It is the nicest facility that we have been to. The people are wonderful to work with, and it has indoor and outdoor space. It is just a very high quality place. It is absolutely secure and safe. The cooking facility is just amazing; they have a chef that is working there. According to my mother, the food is amazing.
