Assisted Living Communities in Greenville, SC

"My friend is a resident of Oakview Park. They're extremely good. They are very dedicated over there. The facility is not only clean, but the nurses are very attentive, and all the staff are just wonderful there. As for the food, I think they could do a little bit better. They're giving plenty; however, some days are better than others. They are cleaning all the time, and the facility is beautiful. They have a library and outdoor seating. They get to bring animals and churches in. They have a church service every Sunday. They have music on Thursdays. They have a room where they can go and do art and stuff. They also have physical activities, so they're good over there. My friend chose them because of the closeness to family and the care they have, plus they have what he wants biblically."

"I'm going to The Residences of Greer. I gave them a deposit to hold my room. It was one of the best. Everybody was friendly. They were very nice. I went over today to pick out a room. I had lunch there, and the lunch was very good. The people were very cordial. I spoke to several of the people in the place while I was having lunch, and every one of them said, 'You're going to love it here.' When I picked out my room, there was still some stuff that had not been moved yet, like there was one dresser, which I'm going to need. I asked if that dresser was for sale or if I could purchase it, and they said, 'No, not this one, but we do have one down the hall that we can donate to the room.' It turned out to be nicer than the one they had in the room. It also looked quite new, so I thought that it was really nice. They're very helpful and very pleasant. I also met the director, who sat down with us. When I was there today, he had on his work clothes, and I said, 'What are you doing?' He said, 'Oh, I'm doing a little hard work today.' I enjoyed the meal very much. There's nothing I can complain about the place. It's very good. I had an aide with me, and she said the food was good, too."

"My sister is at Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville. We chose them because they have assisted living and memory care people all together, and she needed more communication with people who were not quite as bad off as some of the people that were just in memory care at the other place. On top of that, she was able to keep her dog, even though she's a memory care patient, so that was a big plus for her. Her living space is nice. They have pretty nice facilities as far as the rooms go. The staff members are very nice. They have a lot of different programs. It's overall a pretty nice place."

"My mother has moved into Manning Square. After comparing it with everything else I've seen, it was heads above the other places. The staff seems to be very good and very helpful. And they're all very pleasant to be around. Their food is good, too. They have activities like bingo, taking them out on shopping trips, and exercise classes. The atmosphere is friendly. The layout is adequate."

"Spring Park was excellent. The location of that is just super. The trees were all the way around it. It was gorgeous. The facility was beautiful. The people were super nice. I couldn't say anything negative about them. They were equally nice as the other place; however, it was $1700 more, which is a big difference. The surrounding area was drop-dead gorgeous. It was secluded. You couldn't see anything but nature. It was a beautiful setting. The staff members were wonderful, too. I tried their meal, and it was unbeatable. When I left there, I thought it was the place I was going to go to. I sat with three other gentlemen who lived there, and I said, 'This meal is superb,' and they said every meal is just like it. There was nothing about the place that you wouldn't love, only the price."

"I'm considering Viva Senior Living at Easley for my sister if everything goes well. Everybody I've talked to seemed real nice and helpful in explaining things. I've had family members there before and everything was OK."

"I toured The Willows of Easley. My sister-in-law was going to reside there, but when they interviewed her and showed her the place, she was just too weak. They said they won't be able to take care of her. The employees were nice. I didn't taste the food, but I did see the menu. It looked delicious. Everything looked great. It's not an apartment. It's just one bedroom with one bath included. They were doing games and puzzles and things like that. They had a large area where people could gather and watch movies and stuff like that. They were very accommodating and very helpful."

"I liked Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff. It was nice and clean. Everybody seemed happy. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and it looked like they cared for their residents. The guy told me they just finished doing some renovations. Everything on the inside looked great. They had a patio."

"When my mom moved downstairs into the assisted living in Rosecrest Retirement Community, they were all still the same way. Everyone was very nice, had a very low turnover, and had a clean facility. They have a lot of activities. I always pop in. They never know when I'm coming or going over there. So, it's not like they know I will come, and then they act nice. It's not that way. There are some difficult residents, but they handle everyone with respect. It's just a great place. I'm very pleased with it. We've been very fortunate that she was able to go there. It's expensive, but they all are, so I wouldn't say it is overly expensive because it's not a Medicare bed. The other thing they do quite well is that my mother has fallen there because she's sick-headed and thinks she can get up on her own, but they quickly notify you. They let you know what's going on. They'll tell you if she's to be seen by a physician. They're great about that, too. They've got those little chains around their neck that, if they fall, they're supposed to buzz them when they get up. But my mother still doesn't think she has to do that, so she has fallen, but not because of them, because of herself. We were very fortunate that they had a bed available, and she's done well there. The food is very good. They maintain the outside and keep the entranceway clean. When it's not 105 degrees, I'll push her around the complex in her wheelchair, and the complex area is clean. They do a great job with that as well. They have an activity director, Rhodesia. She's fabulous. They do arts and crafts. They'd do something every day if they wanted to do it. They had music there. They'd do bingo twice a week. They'll do parades. We did a parade memorial, and everybody was decorated in red, white, and blue. At Christmas, they went out in one of the buses to look at the decorations around the town. Rhodesia keeps them busy, even if someone like my mother didn't want to go for about two weeks or come out of a room, they went in there and encouraged her to come out. She did great. They try very hard to engage everyone."

"We went to Summit Place & Summit Court. It wasn't appropriate for my mother because she would have to walk outside without cover to get her meals, so on rainy days or cold days with frequent snow days, she would not be able to get her food. She was the one that decided that wasn't for her. Their independent living is like little condos, and that wasn't going to work for her. It's got more assisted living and very little independent living, and the independent living is outside the main building, like little condos. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, very helpful, and very professional. She was the marketing manager."

"Bebe and her staff are really great working with the residents on both assisted living and memory care units. My father-in-law has flourished under their care. They’ve gotten him to do activities at the local YMCA I didn’t think he would ever do (water aerobics for starters)."

"I recently moved my Mom to Inverness. And even though she is farther away from me, I am no longer anxious for her care or her safety. The staff is like family to each other, to the residents in their care here, and to the family and friends of the residents. It is the place that if you needed for a loved one but were concerned that they may not get that "assisted living" environment, then it is the right choice. I would want to live here when the time comes. It is that much and more for the person living there and for the family members also. My brother and I feel that Mom is now in a happy, healthy, and caring place. Mom deserves the best and for what is offered and for the financial fairness that is Inverness of Spartanburg, we feel truly blessed. "The staff at The Pines at Greenville Assisted Living & Memory Care showed me assisted living. I wanted to look memory care, but she thought that my mother could do assisted living, and at that time, she probably could have done it, but not now. For assisted living, it was nice. I'd put my mom there because it was nice. They were remodeling a little bit. They had a beauty shop there, and they had activities. The residents were out in a community room watching TV. The staff was all nice. They had everything. They had indoor courts where they could go outside."

"Mom has lived in three care facilities in Greenville, SC. The Gardens has been the best place by far. A great and caring staff. Responsive medical care. The facility is clean and well maintained. We are very happy we found The Gardens."
