"We found here for my sister. The place is built like a circle, so even if she wanders around, she'll come back into the main dining area. Each hallway where the rooms are set off around the side, had different colors, so she would know which color to go to for her room. They have activities and nurses 24 hours. Even the staff up front used to be nurses and are well trained. They have activity times, movie time, chapel time, and a beauty salon. They're so well taken care of. She has a room all to herself, and her bedroom door is left open most of the time, so she won't get lost in different places. The staff is very good and keeps me well informed, and the doctor goes to her room to see her. There's a library there. They can have hospice come in if she becomes less mobile."

"We toured Waterstone on Augusta. What I liked about it was, number one, it was a newer facility. Number two, the care that we saw exhibited there seemed excellent. The people there were very accommodating. The facility itself was excellent, very clean and sanitary. There were lots of activities for the senior adults to get involved in, and the people there were just extraordinary."

"Quillen Manor is beautiful, and the staff is very friendly. A resident allowed us to tour her unit, and she was very friendly as well. The atmosphere was wonderful. The apartment that we saw was beautiful and clean. Everything looked great. The landscaping outside, the parking lot area, and the dining hall were great. They were setting up some games when I was there. The dining area looked more like a cafeteria, but it looked great and clean. They have a hairstylist, they take them shopping, and they have exercises and church services."

"I toured Oakview Park. I liked it. It was nice. Everywhere was nice. In the front, people were coming in and out. These are patients that are coming out to see the sunset and that was good. They showed me where their PT was and where their OT was. Then they showed me an activities room where they get all kinds of activities. It seems like they do everything. The staff was telling me all the different activities they do. When I got there, it was about lunchtime, and they called the patients, and they were all walking into the dining room, and they seemed happy. They gave me a menu to show me what they had. Everybody seemed to be doing their job like talking to the patients, which is important to me. The lady that helped me, was very helpful, and informative and she knew what she was doing. The room that I looked at was furnished with the woman's furniture. The inside was really clean and so was the outside."

"We toured Wesley Court Assisted Living. The staff was very informative. She showed me two different rooms. I got to speak with a couple of different residents. Everybody was nice. I happened to run into the maintenance person who was very nice. He was busy, so there was constant upkeep in the facility. When I was there, that guy was talking to the lady that I was with, and she said, 'Could you go see Mrs. so-and-so because she had a problem?' So it seems like they're trying to take care of everybody. I saw an empty room and I saw a room with a guest in it, and she was very appreciative of the staff. That's another thing, all the staff that I saw looked like they wanted to be there or not 'I've got a job and I hate being here' that thing. It was pretty good. It seemed like a pretty good fit for my mom, but we're still just trying to work through all that stuff. There's some furniture that's available, but you can bring your own furniture assuming it will fit in the room. The lady's room that I went into, had a small fridge and a microwave, and she said she also had a coffee pot. So they're fairly lenient as far as what you can bring into your room. They also had 24-hour monitoring services like a little thing you wear around your neck, and you could press it if you needed some help, so I thought that was pretty good as well. "

"Dad moved to Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff. They are good. They're very helpful and friendly. Communication is good with them. Dad is in a single occupancy. It has a full bathroom for showers and everything in it, which some places don't. It's a little larger than a studio. He has a bed, a sitting area, and everything else. The food I tasted was very good. I had French toast for breakfast."

"The one thing I liked about Viva Senior Living at Easley is that they will take reservations. A lot of places won't reserve space for respite care, but they will. That's one reason we picked them. I liked everything about it. They were very personable. They seem to have plenty of help from what I observed when I was there. I like the facility. I like the layout and the cleanliness of it. The staff was very good. The rooms were nice. The atmosphere was comfortable."

"My mom is a resident. It's a small, neat community where the residents get along and seem happy. Sometimes she's happy with the food, sometimes she's not. She's very picky to begin with. She's not always happy but she's not always upset. So, it's kind of in the middle. They have a library, a hair salon, and they also have chapel services. My mom goes to chapel services. They do have a lot of activities for the residents, which is good."

"I like the staff at The Willows of Easley. That was, I guess, the most important. They also have a registered nurse on staff, which made a big difference. I also like the activities that they had planned for their residents. They change every week. They take them places, sightseeing, they do ice cream sundae and coke floats, a manicure Monday, they play bingo, and they have exercise classes. It's like 3 times a week, I think, and it's just really good. My sister is in their assisted living. The staff communicates well with the family so that's a big factor too. The other is that they're very kind and helpful, not only to us but to my sister. Her room is very nice with a private bath and 3 closets. It's a nice room with a window that looks out. They have a nice big dining area, very well-lit, and kind of in the heart of all the activity going on, which is nice. It's nice for the residents because they get to interact with people. The food is fine, they have 3 very good meals a day. Everything is neat, clean, and well-kept. They have maintenance on staff so for any kind of problem that you have, they immediately fix it. They're very good at assisting like when her TV's not working right or something like that, they immediately come in and help her get it straight. Sometimes it's just the remote or she's pushed some button or the wrong thing. They're very caring and kind to her. The cleaning staff and the maintenance staff do a really good job keeping the place nice and clean. To me, anything's too expensive, but considering the care that she gets, I'd say it's a fair market. Based on the others that I checked into, it's fair. A big factor is that they have onsite staff nurses, and physical therapists, and occupational therapists that are there on campus. They have doctors that come in once a week so they have a lot of staff."

"The Inverness at Spartanburg is a pretty good place, they take care of my grandfather just fine. I was looking for the least expensive community and this is the lowest one I could find, so I'm satisfied where he's at. The staff is pretty good, and hospice would also come in three times a week. They've got stuff and activities for the residents to do. They also have a TV room, puzzle room, and they've also got physical therapy. He's in a shared room there, but if you wanted you can get a private room and pay more money. He has to have his food pureed there."

"I moved into LaurelHurst & LaurelWoods, and I am in their independent living. The place is very impressive. It's very clean and the halls are inviting. The apartments are above adequate. The staff is very friendly and concerned. I have more than enough things to keep me busy. I really haven't engaged in much of their activities but I know they are going out on a tour tomorrow. They also play games of dominoes and cards. The dining area is very pleasant. The food is acceptable. It's not that great but it feeds the body. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not so good."

"My wife moved in. It's clean. The people were caring. The facilities are very nice. They do have a library and a courtyard."

"My brother moved in. He was in rehab. He got denied his last exemption, so we had to find a place real quick. We went to visit Kempton of Greenville and we really liked the place. We liked the staff that works there. Casey was really helpful and got my brother into the place. The nurses are great. They are concerned about their patients and keeping them up with everything that goes on. They have a good facility, beautiful grounds, and beautiful facilities. The personnel are friendly. They were singing the 1980s songs and they had game time. They have three meals a day. The rooms are nice. You can bring your stuff in and decorate the room. They have three square meals a day. The food's great. The facilities are great. They have a little courtyard that you can sit in, go out, roll out, and if you're in a wheelchair or walker, you can go out, sit in a little courtyard, and commune with nature."
