The Best Assisted Living Communities in Spartanburg County, SC

"I'm going to The Residences of Greer. I gave them a deposit to hold my room. It was one of the best. Everybody was friendly. They were very nice. I went over today to pick out a room. I had lunch there, and the lunch was very good. The people were very cordial. I spoke to several of the people in the place while I was having lunch, and every one of them said, 'You're going to love it here.' When I picked out my room, there was still some stuff that had not been moved yet, like there was one dresser, which I'm going to need. I asked if that dresser was for sale or if I could purchase it, and they said, 'No, not this one, but we do have one down the hall that we can donate to the room.' It turned out to be nicer than the one they had in the room. It also looked quite new, so I thought that it was really nice. They're very helpful and very pleasant. I also met the director, who sat down with us. When I was there today, he had on his work clothes, and I said, 'What are you doing?' He said, 'Oh, I'm doing a little hard work today.' I enjoyed the meal very much. There's nothing I can complain about the place. It's very good. I had an aide with me, and she said the food was good, too."

"We've already found Brookdale Brushy Creek and got my in-laws there. I like the overall layout. It is very open and airy. It doesn't feel cramped. This place is very clean and it smells like flowers. They have flowers everywhere and small trees - real trees, not fake trees. They have all sorts of different programs going on. People are learning to dance and they are getting people moving around. The staff is extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. While we were there, another patient went into some sort of medical issue, and they were Johnny on the spot. Several people came at once providing assistance, getting an ambulance to take him to the hospital, and notifying his family. It just filled me with confidence that they are taking their jobs very seriously. The place is extremely clean. There is no stuff scattered everywhere. They bring the residents out to play games, like bingo. One group of people was playing Monopoly while we were there. There were a couple of other gentlemen who were wheelchair-bound and we saw them outside in the courtyard shooting basketball hoops. There were only 3 of them, but there was a male nurse out there watching them. If the ball got away, the nurse would run and get it and bring it back, and they would shoot the ball again."

"Harmony at Five Forks was very clean and very well-organized. Their residents all seemed to be in a very happy state. It looked like a nice place. It's a place I could put my mother in. The rooms were clean, they were well-organized, and they were safe. One of the things that I like is that their memory care is separate from assisted living. The staff was very pleasant. My contact with the staff was very limited, but everybody seemed to be doing their thing and enjoying it. And their exercise class was full, which I loved. They also have a library where a lady was putting together a very major jigsaw puzzle, and then in the memory care unit, they were having a group that was watching television, and then they also had a group playing bingo. I only met with sales and marketing, but the staff was friendly. The community dining areas looked great. The dining for independent living is a very upscale type of dining room. It's a fairly new facility."

"My sister is at Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville. We chose them because they have assisted living and memory care people all together, and she needed more communication with people who were not quite as bad off as some of the people that were just in memory care at the other place. On top of that, she was able to keep her dog, even though she's a memory care patient, so that was a big plus for her. Her living space is nice. They have pretty nice facilities as far as the rooms go. The staff members are very nice. They have a lot of different programs. It's overall a pretty nice place."

"Viva Senior Living at Gaffney is a five because of everything that I saw, the amenities and what they offer, and it's close by to me. Everybody was very helpful and attentive to what I was asking, and they answered all my questions. It's a very nice place."

"My mother’s already been placed in assisted living at Brookdale Southpointe Drive. It is a clean, happy, and bright facility with large rooms, very friendly staff, and excellent food. "

"We toured The Blake at Hollingsworth Park. Compared to other facilities, it was pretty glamorous and it was more expensive. The staff during the tour was excellent. Everybody was very welcoming. The dining was more like a restaurant, so it was very nice. The room accommodations were very beautiful. They had a beautiful courtyard area. There was a media room. This is a very nice high-end facility."

"We had chosen Highlands Senior Living Forest City because my mom only has so much money and it fit within her range. During my tour of the place, they showed me the assisted living apartments and the lady who did it was very nice. The room has a dresser and a bed with concrete walls. They're also trying to renovate because it is an extremely old building. For food, they provide 3 meals and 3 snacks a day."

"My mother will be moving into Kauhale Pettigru. I liked the location. It's convenient to my hometown and for all my siblings to get to. I liked the setting. It's in Downtown Greenville, so there are lots of trees and pretty outdoors. I liked that it's a smaller community. There are 20 people in memory care. It would be more conducive to the staff being more attentive. They're not overloaded. I had a pleasant experience. I liked the director who showed me around. She's very nice, very knowledgeable, and she knows her stuff. It was very clean. They had a patio and nice outdoor spaces. They had one that had a grill setup and an outdoor picnic area. They had another one that was sort of like a walking trail that just looped around the back. It was really nice."

"We toured Waterstone on Augusta. What I liked about it was, number one, it was a newer facility. Number two, the care that we saw exhibited there seemed excellent. The people there were very accommodating. The facility itself was excellent, very clean and sanitary. There were lots of activities for the senior adults to get involved in, and the people there were just extraordinary."

"My mom has been in memory care at Spring Park. It's a very nice place and the staff is excellent. The food is good. They play Bingo, sing, and walk around. My mom's room is nice and clean."

"I didn't like Pacifica Senior Living Skylyn. It was nice but a little dirty. The girl who we met was not really prepared, even though we had an appointment. It was like a recorded speech, so it didn't seem like she was interested in finding out what I liked or what I was looking for. The rooms were a good size, but I didn’t see a lot of interaction. It was pretty empty in the hallways and sitting areas. They were nice, but the base boards were dirty, and the staff didn’t seem to be very friendly. I did like the fact that you had a little balcony to go out on, which was nice. "

"I toured Summit Hills. It was an excellent place. It was almost like you'd been to the mountaintop. It was top-rated, as far as I'm concerned. The tour was awesome. The staff was top of her game and very informative. She gave us the paperwork and I came away with literature to read. I toured the grounds, the apartments, and one of the homes that were completed. It was a gated community. They had a security person after hours. They had the homes and the visual layout plans. The place was huge. It's a vast area. We were in a golf cart to go around the gated community area. The independent living apartments had a refrigerator, an oven, and their kitchen was large. The bedroom was large, too. They had an indoor pool."
