"We toured Summit Place of Anderson. It was good and very informative. Everything was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and very informative, and that was part of what made it good. It seems to have everything our parents were looking for. They weren't looking to be taken care of, there's that possibility because they were looking for meal help. Other than that, they're very independent. They had the cottages and that was what we were interested in. That's where the independent living is and they were nice and they were up to date. For the independent folks, it's close to everything. There are grocery stores and everything. I know they have tours, and they had more stuff before Covid. After Covid, they'll have more because they'll have field trips and stuff like that."

"In our early seventies my wife and I systematically explored the southeast USA touring and inspecting close to 20 CCRC's. Our parents before us had done the same for themselves and we watched them enjoy this lifestyle thoroughly. We settled on two favorites: one in Greenville, SC and one in Jacksoville, FL. We finally chose Cascades Verdae because it was such a beautiful "high-end" community, located in the middle of nice shopping, grocery stores, medical office parks, good churches, and so convenient to our needs. Another big deciding factor was proximity to our children and grandchildren. This is our twelfth year as residents and we have made many friends, are so impressed with the wealth of fun activities, and love our friendly, responsive Cascades staff."

"Overture Greenville 55+ Apartment Homes was an excellent community. The place was immaculate. I liked it. It's just that I couldn't afford the rent. The people were friendly. They seemed to try and provide social activities for the community, which was very nice. It's a very social place. The apartments were clean and up to date."

"Through my in-laws and my mother I have been able to experience life in the independent home, the apartments, healthcare, and rehabilitation unit. My family members were able to enjoy the last portion of their lives in a caring community that provided great food, many activities, and a clean, attractive and well cared for facility. The staff "adopted " my crew and became part of our lives. They kept me informed and respected my suggestions and decisions. The activities staff was incredible and made birthdays and holidays special. Other days were filled with craft activities, visiting performers, and bus trips to favorite restaurants. During Covid , drive by and window (closed) visits were arranged and pictures of family members were shared. My in-laws and Mother have all died. I miss them terribly but also miss the Rolling Green staff who made their lives richer!"

"I toured Merrill Gardens at Greenville. What I liked most first of all is the affordability of it. I didn't think I could find anything downtown Greenville that was affordable. That was the only place as far as the senior living community that was affordable and very nice. It was just a great location. This is pretty new. They have a restaurant there so I went and had lunch with the marketing guy and I was really surprised at how great the food was. It's really healthy and fresh food. They have a lot of nice amenities there. They even had a rooftop area where you could go and cook out and look out over downtown Greenville, which was fantastic. They had a nice pool area, I think it was heated. It was fairly small. I think there were like 140-160 units, something like that. So I didn't consider it that big. The only thing that I did not particularly care for was it was like a high-rise kind of setup like a hotel. The one thing that bothered me and I even mentioned it to the marketing guy, I liked him a lot, but as we were walking down the hallway, he pointed out a resident and said this, so-and-so told me her name and said, she's our oldest resident here and told me her age, and I'm like he's kind of divulging information. That bothered me a little bit that he knew personal information about residents and then was telling me about it. I'm a little concerned about people knowing my privacy, so that was one issue I had that I did bring up with them. They had a move-in special that was very reasonable. I think it was first rent-free. I think everything was included, all the utilities and the three meals a day, plus the snack and internet stuff. They had a good promotion going on. I think they reduced it by $400 a month for the next year and this was a big deal to me. There's no lease, so you could do it month to month. You do sign a contract, but if you want to leave next month, I think you'd have to get a 30-day notice. Then you could go ahead and leave, but the contract essentially said we're not going to raise the rate on you for a year. So I liked that about it. He said, if you live here a year, a month or so and don't like it, you can leave. So that was different, I thought. It's very modern as far as the style of everything, the colors were just really great. I didn't feel like I was in some old folks home."

"My mother is a resident of The Springs at Simpsonville. I like the fact that they've got a friendly staff. They are very accommodating, and they offer the services that my mother needs. She has a studio with a private bath. Her room is single, so she doesn't have anybody else in there. It's large enough to accommodate her bed and to also form a sitting area. They typically have an activity in the morning. Like this morning, they were going offsite to a religious service. We ate there as a family when mother checked in, and the food was really quite good. They have a marvelous activities director."

"We visited The Woodlands several times before my friend made up her mind that's where she wanted to go. I like the way it was very upbeat. It was very lively and very active. The place was beautiful. What I really like was their attitude with keeping everything very vibrant. The activities were just great and all the things they did just really, really nice. The people that are there seemed to be very happy with everything. It just felt like this is a great place because everybody was doing something. It wasn't like an old folk's home. There were lots of going on. The other thing that really impressed us was the quality of the food. It was absolutely outstanding. Those two things really what sold her on that place. With regards to activities, they have the general run of the mill things, but in addition to that, they provide a lot of outside entertainment. For instance, they had a Kentucky Derby Day. Just recently we went to a dance they had there with live music and lots of food. The rooms were all very good size. My friend has a large living room with a dining area. It has a very nice kitchen fully appointed. She has laundry room and one bathroom. She can have it painted any colors that you want. It looks out on a garden. It is very nice. I would definitely recommend this. "

"Bayberry Retirement Inn was a nice place. It had big rooms. It was clean and neat. It did not have an odor. "

"We have my mother on the waiting list for the Legacy Reserve at Fairview Park. The staff members are very helpful and very friendly. They are a caring community. The rooms are very spacious and clean. They look very nice. The dining room is beautiful. It is set up very nicely. I would tell others that they're very helpful. If they have any questions, they will answer them for them, and if they don't know the answer, they will find it for you."

"We chose Foothills Retirement Community for my father because they have assisted living, memory care, rehab, and skilled nursing all in the same grounds. He's in memory care now and if he has a medical issue, they have a nurse practitioner on the property that can take a look at him, or he can go straight into their rehab or skilled nursing facility if needed. They have continuity of care. The staff is excellent. They've got really good food. The rooms are a little small, but it can accommodate everything he has. Everything else is very good. They take them out a couple times a week and have music come in. They're always busy."

"My father is in Quillen Manor. Their price range was what I wanted, but the communication about medication is a little bit of a problem. The food looks fairly good. He's always playing bingo there, and they have an entertainment room with a large TV. It's very clean, and the outside is very nicely kept. It's a very nice place."

"Mom has been here for 4 years, currently in the memory care area. She is very well cared for and seems to just love the caregivers. Food is great, she often will eat all on her plate. The staff is great! You can tell they love the residents. I would definitely recommend this as sisted living!"

"We had a good visit. The staff was good. Everyone was friendly taking care of everyone that I saw. The director was very knowledgeable. It was lunchtime, and they were all at the lunch table getting ready to eat. "

"My dad will be moving into Lakewood Independent Living. The facility was very nice, and the staff was nice. The amenities were good for what's included. Breakfast and dinner were included. The activities that were on-site were included in the monthly fee. They would do weekly housekeeping in the apartment. They would get a storage locker on their floor for any items that they wanted to store that were locked. There was a laundry and dryer unit in each apartment. They had a concierge that would help in the event they needed anything. The staff was very friendly, and helpful, and answered questions. She was very thorough on her tour, and very accommodating to us."
