Spartanburg Home Care Resources

Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Spartanburg:

Weatherization Assistance Services

Address: 460 North Church Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29340
Phone Number: (864) 585-8183

This program, funded by the nonprofit agency Piedmont Community Action, provides access to energy efficiency services for low-income households. To qualify for this program, seniors must have an annual income within the limit set for your size household. With priority given to seniors, those with disabilities, and families with children, citizens who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible.

Mobile Meals

Address: 419 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29302
Phone Number: (864) 573-7684

Mobile Meals of Spartanburg is a not-for-profit organization that provides daily meals to seniors who are homebound, live alone, are alone during the day, or are unable to prepare meals due to physical or emotional limitations. While there are no age or income limits to meet, individuals interested in this program must undergo an in-home assessment by a Mobile Meals Outreach Director.

Homestead Exemption

Address: 366 N Church St, Spartanburg, SC 29303
Phone Number: (864) 596-2600

In 2007, a law was passed in South Carolina that completely exempts people aged 65+ and the permanently disabled from the property tax bill imposed for school operating purposes. This law exempts $50,000 for individuals meeting the requirements. Seniors, who can apply in person or through email, must provide documents such as a birth certificate, Medicaid card, Medicare card, or driver’s license.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Address: 300A South Daniel Morgan Avenue, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29304
Phone Number: (864) 585-8183

LIHEAP is a federally funded program that provides services to low-income homeowners and renters for assistance with utility bills for heat, fuel and air conditioning. To be eligible, individuals must meet household size and income limits. Individuals who participate in certain other benefit programs such as Supplemental Security Income may automatically be eligible.

GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission
