My husband was a resident of Rest Haven-york. They were wonderful. It is an old building and it's nothing fancy, but the care here was wonderful. So I was very pleased. They just took such great care of him with his hallucinations. I mean, they were just wonderful with that. The staff was very good, too. I mean, sometimes it seemed like they were only taking care of him, but that's how they were with everyone. I can't say enough about them. He was in a semi-private room. He did not participate in any activities, but they do have them available for the residents.

My wife is at Rest Haven-york. She was in Rest Haven for rehabilitation and they thought that she would not be safe to go back home, so we moved her to the long-term care facility there. I have not been allowed to go in there. With Covid measures, they are not allowing in-person visits and we can only visit through the window. I know she is not happy to be there, but I think it is the best place for her because I cannot care for her at home. Everyone that I talked to on the phone there has been very pleasant. They are friendly, helpful, and they do what they can, but, like I said, I do not have a lot of contact with them. My wife does not like the food. They have activities available, but I am not so sure that she is participating. The place is very close to the entrance to Route 83 with a lot of traffic, so it is not very pleasant. As far as the appearance of the building, it is a one-level brick structure with nothing to brag about. It is presentable on the outside. Everything costs too much, but I guess it is a decent value for money that we had to pay.

My mother was here for 3 1/2 years. Overall, my family and I were happy. We will miss seeing the residents and staff.

Our mother was placed here after a hip fracture for rehab. She also has Parkinson's. By the time her Medicare days were ending (less than 100 days) she was actively dying! No other co-morbidities!!!!! They did not re-position her regularly and she developed 3 bedsores - 1 stage 4, and 1 'unstagable' because it was such a deep tissue injury!!!! Her humming from Parkinson's was medicated as 'pain' and they snowed her to the point she stopped feeding herself!!!! She is for discharge Saturday - I dont know if she will live long enough to even get out. Whatever you do, DO NOT send your loved one here.

The nursing staff was wonderful. The administration is unprofessional. They waited till the last minute to tell us information that should have been told from day one. My father was there for rehab not to stay, his insurance covered rehab 100 %, but they considerate all a nursibg home. We vowed to never put him in nursing home so we dont have n never will have insurance for that. Thats to get ur money. We wanted health south from the beginning any way. I say....you should know this goin in. They had n sent us paperwork with the wrong names on it for who is my fathers POA afyer we provided more then enough paperwork telling them who was. The nurses handle patients food with no gloves or hair nets n the menu sucks for the price you pay for your love ones to stay there. Dont just drop your loved ones off. We brought brand new under garment the very 1st day 5 out of 7 t shirts was just missing and nobody knew nothing. So they started putting donated clothes on my father. I didnt feel comfortable from the door but they kept telling us all other rehabs was to extensive. He is home, where he belongs doing much better, gaining weight, doing physical an occupational therapy, laughing n talking with family. They are out for money. I have no clue about residents, but me n my family got my dad out of their so called rehab.

My mother-in-law was at Rest Haven - York. The care that she received was excellent, but the rooms are slightly old-fashioned and slightly crowded. The meals that they give to my mother-in-law was not adequate. She has celiac's disease, and they do not have wide variety of meals for her, but their regular meals for other residents looked and smelled very good. The doctor chose this place for her because they deliver results. They had her up and moving and doing very well.

They put my mother-in-law in Rest Haven - York. They keep the place clean for sure, and they have quite a few activities for the residents which my mother-in-law loves. Any of the personnel is really nice. They have been helpful when help was needed. I can go to them with almost any question, and they can answer it. If not, they will get an answer and get back to you. My mother-in-law seems to like it quite a bit. Early on, it wasn’t that way, but more and more she is getting acclimated to her surroundings. Like when she goes to activities or any of the meals, she says "when I get back home." So her bed and her room is her home, which is a good indication. She is in a room with another lady. She enjoys almost any activity, especially anything that has to do with music. They have Bingo, and on Sundays they have different churches coming in. Today, they had a group playing music, and she loves music. It is a good variety of activities.

Rest Haven York is a lovely nursing home located in York, PA, across the street from York Hospital. The home itself is well kept and very clean. The building is secure from the time you walk up to the front door and enter. A receptionist is there to greet you and you sign in. Then you're free to visit whomever you're there to see. Anytime I've asked to speak with a member of the staff they gladly accommodate me. My questions have always been answered completely and thoroughly. I find all of the employees to be quite pleasant. Most importantly of all is that my mother appears to be happy there. She has dementia and so doesn't really know me but they tell me she's friendly with everyone and motors around the facility in her wheelchair. I like that the staff there is kind to her. I don't care so much that her and many others spend their days sitting in the hallways while a special group uses the activity room but I don't know all the details of that either.
