"Manor Care Kingston Court is a nice clean facility with a friendly staff. Upon entering the facility you are greeted by secretary at the front desk who is able to direct you to where you need to go in the facility and help with your various needs. For new patients your immediately greeted by management of the facility and taken to your room where they provide anything you need to get settled in. The doctors, nurses, and other care takers are all very friend and do their jobs as described. The facility is very clean besides a few occasional smells which are expected to be found at every facility from time to time. The food appears average in both presentation and taste as described by the varios residents who live there. There are also several activites provided everyday to keep residents active and entertained. Downside is that you share a room with another resident and there is limited private time with your family when they visit. Overall the facility is just above standard compared to other facilities. "

"My brother-in-law stayed in Yorkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was not happy there. We were not happy with the care. What I observed is that the place is not clean. It's very run-down. The Venetian blinds were broken up and torn in the one room where he was when he was upstairs for skilled nursing. After somebody came in, they finally replaced it because I think they were told they had to. When he was downstairs in the first room, the CNAs would come and turn his light off and not say, May I help you? Now this gentleman has aneurysms that could blow. They would turn it off and say someone would be in and never come back, and I witnessed that. I asked for an air mattress when he first admitted because their mattress is so thin and uncomfortable. They explained that when he gets red and starts to break down, they'll get him an air mattress. When he was admitted to the hospital, he had bed sores. They did get him an air mattress after he broke down and had bedsores. I was not happy about that. One breakfast, he never got his breakfast until I finally had to call a supervisor, and he even got his breakfast at like quarter of eleven, and by 11:30, his lunch came. He says the food was not that good and that it was cold. The care there is not good. His roommate went home, and I finally had to call and complain because three days later, that side of the room was not cleaned, and there were two dirty urinals over there. And that to me is uncalled for. That room should have been cleaned the day the guy left."

"I would like to give a “SHOUT OUT” to the HomeCare staff at Normandie Ridge. My parents moved into the facility 13 years ago. Unfortunately, my step father passed away a few years ago but my mother continues to live in her apartment. These last few years have been a small medical challenge in some ways but because the HomeCare staff was available there to help her with some of her everyday activities, she has been able to continue independent living in her own apartment. Priscilla has gone out of her way to make accommodations for Mom. Her staff of Erika and Sara have been the lifesavers helping her with many of her daily needs, both day and night. Normandie Ridge is a great place to live and having HomeCare services available to their residents adds an additional benefit to the services and activities already provided by Normandie Ridge and the staff."

"I moved my mom into the Connections Memory Care of Country Meadows at Leader Heights in March of 2023. The care she and I both have been receiving since the day we walked in the front door is exceptional! The entire community is beautifully maintained, and the staff members, from the administration team to the front desk personnel, and everyone in between, have been very friendly and helpful. The Connections staff lovingly cares for my mom daily and are very attentive to my mom’s every request and need. They never hesitate to take the time to answer all my questions and share details about my mom’s daily life whether I am visiting or simply calling to check in on her. The activities have provided my mom with an opportunity to stay active in many ways and have helped her to build lasting friendships with the staff as well as other residents. The staff encourages and welcomes me to participate in any activities being conducted and they set up the country kitchen very nicely so we can have family meals with my mom as well. I highly recommend Country Meadows to anyone looking for a loving safe community for themselves or their loved ones."

"My husband was a resident of Rest Haven-york. They were wonderful. It is an old building and it's nothing fancy, but the care here was wonderful. So I was very pleased. They just took such great care of him with his hallucinations. I mean, they were just wonderful with that. The staff was very good, too. I mean, sometimes it seemed like they were only taking care of him, but that's how they were with everyone. I can't say enough about them. He was in a semi-private room. He did not participate in any activities, but they do have them available for the residents."

"My husband was a resident at York South for 15 months. He had Dementia and Parkinson's and the staff took great care of him. I had to work diligently with the dietician/food service staff to be sure he got enough food when he started consistently losing weight. That was resolved and he gained his weight back. I visited 6 days a week and got to know the Arcadia staff and residents. This was my husband's new home and I became a part of the family. A few staff members even came to his viewing when he passed away in June. I have gone back a few times to help in the unit and visit with the residents. The staff are caring and will work with you to be sure your loved one settles in and feels at home."

"Misericordia was a very nice place for people with dementia or Alzheimer’s but not for somebody who has all her faculties and is just physically limited. They were very friendly, very open, and very helpful in their recommendations of places to check out for my mom because she really wouldn’t be a good fit in that type of setting. They were very straightforward and helpful. Being a dementia/Alzheimer’s-type place, it was clean, presentable, and friendly. I thought it was kind of strange that the State agency downgraded them one star or one point because their staff ratio was greater than what's recommended; that’s their only detractor. "

"My brother-in-law stays in Kingston Court Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for long-term care. They were doing therapy with him, trying to get him a little stronger, and had the dietary come in. The nursing care is excellent. They're doing wound care for a bedsore he got at the other place. He has a roommate. The room is very clean, and it's just a nice room. All those rooms are small, but you can't help that. He likes the food. He said, "It's very good and it's hot." He hasn't participated in any of them, but they have a lot of activities. The nursing director is going to try to get him to do that."

"This nursing home is a wonderful place the staff is wonderful with the patients and take the time to make each patient feel like they are special.When my father first went to this nursing home he of course did not want to be there, he cried that he wanted to be at his own home, now nearly 2 years later he calls ManorCare home, he enjoys going out but now feels like he is going home when it is time for us to take him back. The nurses and assistants always seem to have a smile and a kind word and the place is always clean and odor free. Whenever there is a problem with his billing the staff always go out of their way to straighten it out with out making him aware of the problem. All in all this is a great place for anyone to put their loved one without having to worry about neglect or abuse. "

"My aunt spent seven years at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She received excellent care. The home is located in a rural setting in south central Pennsylvania. In nice weather we were able to sit outside and look at the flowers and birds. All of the staff were kind and caring, but I was especially impressed with the nursing assistants. Once when I visited my aunt, I saw a recently assembled photo album. I knew my aunt wasn't capable of doing this on her own, so I asked around and found out that one of the nursing assistants had stayed after her shift to help her do it. This type of kindness is unusual anywhere, but in a nursing home, I thought it amazing. The only thing I found fault with was the actual nursing staff. It was hard to get information from them on the phone as at that time they didn't seem to be computerized and things had to be looked up in books. "

"My sister was at Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg. She passed away, but she had to be on short-term care and live in a nursing home a little bit. She had lung and bone cancer. She was there for physical therapy, but she couldn't do it because she was in so much pain. I think they did what they could, but I know my sister was hard to deal with. They called me often because she was not wanting to do what she was supposed to do. She didn't want to do the physical therapy, so I know it wasn't easy on them either. The whole experience was not good because I came into it late in the game and my mom was dealing with it. It was not a good thing in the end. My mom holds a grudge against Transitions because she didn't think they did enough. However, they weren't there to take care of her cancer. They were there to take care of her broken femur. It was not a good experience overall. I don't think it was because of Transitions, I think it was because of the situation that my sister was in, and I was brought into it so late in the game when she was already there past her time. They only gave her so much time to start walking and she didn't even want to try, and she gave them a hard time. They would call me because she was giving them a hard time. It was not a good process, but I don't hold it against Transitions, but my parents both do. My mom thought they should've forced my sister to do stuff, but they couldn't, according to what I was told. Everything was clean, and they tried to do what they could and the connection was there, but I was brought in at the end, so it was already a mess. The staff was very accommodating. I know my sister didn't want to eat anything either, so they had issues with her eating, but they allowed her to bring in stuff from outside until the COVID took over, and then they said no more stuff from outside because of COVID. I didn't see anything that was disturbing to me. I thought it was a good facility."
