"The assisted living facility that I found for my client is called Mount Alverna Village. It is run by the Franciscan Sisters from Chicago. My client is a former Franciscan priest. The place is very relaxed and comfortable. I think the staff is very helpful and very interested in trying to do whatever they can do to make my client’s stay there as pleasant as possible. He seems to be thriving there. The room is physically adequate. The dining area is not terribly large, but it doesn’t need to be. It is sufficient for those that would be in the room at any one time. They have various activities, too. "

"The Woods at Solon Pointe was a very nice facility. The food was delicious. It was like gourmet restaurant quality and worthy of being paid for. The people working there were very nice. They just couldn't accommodate both my in-laws. There's a lot of shopping around the community. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and she could've gotten around by herself in the actual community or outside. It's a beautiful facility."

"The aides and nurses are very attentive and sincere. My Mom has been at Hamlet for over 15 years. Questions are always answered quickly and professionally. The nursing team did a great job with Mom during her final days on Hospice Services at Hamlet. My wife and I could not be more appreciative of the care and constant over site that Tish and her team provided to my mom. We wish we could give Hamlet more stars than 5!"

"I toured Brookdale Westlake Village. Shannon was very friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to support my aunt and me before and after the search process, even after the search process had concluded. It's a tight-knit community there. All of the people were very friendly and welcoming. The thing that my aunt specifically didn't like about Brookdale was that it was a big facility. I was looking for something more intimate. The facility was great itself. The rooms were nice. All the rooms are about 350 to 400 square feet. The other thing I liked about Brookdale is that they have rehabilitation facilities. They have different levels of care available within the same campus. I thought that was awesome. I liked the location. It was a centralized location. The facilities were clean. They all had great facilities and programs that the residents participated in. So, there is nothing bad to say about the facility. I had a good experience."

"Regina Health Center had a very solid staff professionally for the nursing and skilled care, and then their rehab and exercise program -- my mom broke her hip in three places and she's 91 -- worked her very well for the six or so weeks, and got her back occupationally -- understanding how to open things, how to get to the bathroom, how to navigate around the house and that kind of thing. She still does her exercises that they were doing twice a day with her in the rehab and the exercise program. The staff was run by the sisters, so it was a good environment for her. The cleanliness was top-notch. It was fairly religious, and there was a lot of retired priests that were there and a lot of sisters that either were retired or going to rehab there of the Catholic faith, so it was a great environment. The food that she had and the care was good, so there was no complaint from our end. "

"My brother was at Avenue at Broadview Heights. They should close that place. He contracted pneumonia there and then it was necrotizing pneumonia, which means there's an infection on top of that. I'm sure he got it from there because the place was dirty. There was standing dirt under his bed. I had to ask for a broom one time, and the one guy said, "No, we'll get in there and clean it." They never did. There's a straw cover I saw two days in a row laying in the hallway, same place. The response of the nurse was bad. They just don't show up when he hits the button. A buddy of mine told me afterwards, "I should have told you about that place. My mother was there." Then another person told me it's just a bad place. There's nothing good about this place. They need to improve on their staff, and if they do that then everything should improve. There were nurses walking around with their cellphones stopping in a corner to talk. One of them was just like wandering the hall trying not to work."

"I was a resident at this facility for six months. I was moved here by my family after spending time at what I consider a sub par nursing home. I am so grateful that they moved me. The nursing staff took very good care of me. My day shift nurses Jan and Amanda were exceptional. The state trained nursing assistants , STNAs , also did a good job of taking care of me and my needs. When I needed help, I would use the call button and someone would come to my room shortly after I used the button. The staff went from being staff to friends. The housekeeping staff took great pride in the cleanliness of their areas whether it was my room or the common areas. The rooms were comfortable. There is an associate there who daily brings around the schedule of daily events. Once a week she comes around to the residents and has a checklist of things to check in each room. In addition, she has questions for the residents to ensure that the quality of care is there. She even asks simple questions such as “ Do you have fresh water? “ If there is any type of issue you can bring it up to her or any other staff member at any time. The therapy staff helped me on my road to recovery. The two male therapists Luke and Randy helped me learn to walk after being bedridden for almost a year. I had a short stay at a local hospital while at the Oaks. Much to my surprise , Michelle in admissions , came to visit me one afternoon. I was thrilled to see her. Michelle exemplifies the character of the staff at the Oaks. The facility is located in a very nice and safe area close to the center of Brecksville on Route 21. You don’t have to pay for parking here as you do at some facilities. This review was easy to write due to all the positives. If you are in need of a good nursing home where you are assured your love one will be taken care check out the Oaks!!!👍😀"

"I did a tour of Brentwood Healthcare Center Inc. They have their own room; they don't have ones that are shared which is nice. I like the location. It's a good area, it's easy to get to, easy to see. The person that I spoke to was very informative, very nice, very professional. They have activities that they are involved in, like different nights they might have something different going on in the summer, outside and such, which is nice. One thing that I do know, but I'm not saying that others don't do it, they request that you have at least two years of self-pay. I know it varies with different places, but that one was two years of self-pay. Maybe we can work with certain things, but they would like two years. I'm not saying that you can't negotiate, but that is their policy there. It's a nice facility. The time I went in there, Covid was going on. I did ask if they have some short staffing, and they said yes. Now it's even worse, I'm sure. There were different things that they did. I like that they had their own room because sometimes you have to share a room in certain facilities. A lot of them, they're cheaper, but I think that one was $6400, I believe. I like that it was very centrally located for all of us, I like the area. It was very nice, very clean. The only thing was the two years. If your funds aren't there, then I could see a year, but for some people with two years, it's kind of touch and go. The staff was very, very formal. He had a degree in social work. He came from a family that had the mother run another place, so he knew what he was talking about. He kind of grew up with the background from his mom. So, he was very informative, very nicely dressed, very professional, took the time for any questions. I think I was there for about an hour."

"We love The Village of St. Edward at Fairlawn. We love the progression of care that my sister could get at the one facility and not having to move her. They have a lot of activities. It's a Catholic-based facility and she is very religious and a Catholic, so that was appealing to her. We just took a tour there, and she fell in love with it. They have a lake with ducks. The library is just through the parking lot, and she can go into the library and get books. She takes SCAT and it is still within range of her being able to live there and have her take her back and forth to work. She works two days a week, sometimes three days a week. She can only work 10 days a month, but that was important, too, that she was able to do that. She is currently in independent living. The staff has been fantastic in helping my sister transition. They have encouraged her to take part in activities to make sure right off the bat that she knew different options that were available to her. They placed her with some people that she was comfortable about going down to dinner. They introduced me to people that had some activities going on. She's very, very happy with the staff there. They check on her. One thing that she likes, too, which was sweet, is they get to select their dinner, so there is all these options. You get to choose your main course, your sides, desserts and things like that. She likes that. Sometimes when she gets home from work, it's past the dinner hour, and so when she gets to her room, her meal is waiting in the room for her. They do clean sheets and towels every week. They are her sheets and her towels, but they launder them and put them back in the bathroom and back in the bedroom, which she always struggled with the ability to make that. It's pretty common to us, but it was something that she struggled with, so that was great. They have activities outside and inside that she partakes in. They have bingo inside, and they have like A Night at the Races type of thing that she likes to do, too. They have different bars, they like puzzles, and people get together to play card games. They have an open house. We did not go to that. It was actually at a different location, but they make sure that she is aware of everything that she can do. They go to breakfast once a week. They took a tour of downtown Akron, all of the highlights of the city. They have these little getaways and she always signs up for it. They have a bus on Sunday morning, so if you sign up, they take you to the Catholic Church, and she is really happy doing that. They also have masses at the facility, but she does like taking the bus and going to church. We have absolutely no complaints. Not one thing have we been upset about or concerned about. It has just been a very good fit for her. Anytime we come, we're invited to join them for dinner. The first night that she was there that we moved her in, we were welcomed to stay for dinner. That's the only time we've eaten there, but it was very good. She has meat options, fish options, and vegetarian options. It is an appetizer, the main course, and dessert. If she doesn't like anything that they have for the main course of the selection, she can have a hamburger or a turkey sandwich and soup or whatever she wants, and she's thrilled with the options. Eating is really important to her, so she is quite pleased with that. My sister wears an alert when she gets home from work. She can wear it around her neck or on her wrist. If she falls or if anything happens, she can just alert them and that makes her feel safe and secure. They're very good. They send me the bill, and I pay that. They have like a little sundry store there that she can go and get little snacks if she wants or if she needs some common things like household items or something, they have that, too. They have a nice balance of keeping an eye on her but not smothering her or limiting her or mothering her, but if she needs somebody there, they're there in a heartbeat. She gets her hair cut there now, she'll be getting her nails done there now, and that's another plus that I don't have to take her for that."

"I chose Copley Health Center for my mom because it was the only place I could get her in where she got a private room, and also the cost was reasonable. The physical set-up was very nice, it was clean and modern. But the people who run the place were not very nice, I thought they were not very warm. Well, some of them were but not all of them. The food was not very good, it was mediocre. "

"My mom has been in Arbors at Fairlawn for two weeks now. It is pretty good. They're just coming back off of COVID, so they're getting a steady pace now. Other than that, they're very good. I just don't like their well water. They have well water out there. Other than that, it's fine. She got a nice big room. She puts on TV. You can put a loveseat in there and a recliner. You just pick it up how you would like your house. It's like a tiny apartment, but they just don't have a kitchen. They have a beauty shop for the ladies and men to go get a haircut, they have a movie theater, they have an activity room, or a visitation room. It's nice. When I call on the staff and talk to them, they get on it. My mother doesn't like the meals. I have to bring her something every day."

"My stepfather was in Wyant Woods for six years, and when we visited him, they took very good care of him. He never had a bed sore even though he was bedridden. They helped him eat when he needed the extra help eating. He had brain cancer; he had some problem eating, so they helped him all the time there. They would update my mother anytime, and they take him to the dining room so he could interact with people. The nurses would come in and visit him when he didn’t feel well, and they were very good with him. "

"The Bath Creek Estates staff goes above and beyond caring for my 95-year-old mother. Besides routine care, they genuinely care about her personal well-being. They find ways to calm her, make her laugh, and keep her active with daily activities. My mom lives for Bingo and Bible Study! A shout out to Kayla S., Marie D., Rorey, and Casey at the front desk. You have made such a difference in my mom's life, and her family is most appreciative. My mom has gained weight since being admitted in March 2022. She looks forward to her three meals a day and usually cleans her plate!"

"My wife has moved into Concordia at Sumner. It is very good. The facilities are excellent. The staff is very good. The food is very good. My only complaint, and I understand that it is an industry-wide problem, is the staffing. Like over Thanksgiving they were short-staffed.The ones who work, who put in the hours, do a very good job. It is a beautiful place. They're currently expanding their independent living. The assisted living and skilled nursing facilities are four separate buildings and they're all one story. There are 24 residents roughly in each building. They each have their own dining room. The place is excellent. They have excellent activities. We have gone to some of the musical programs they put on. They put on at least one musical program a week. They have almost an activity every afternoon for those who want to participate."

"My aunt moved into Timberland Ridge Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. They are phenomenal, it's an amazing facility, and I couldn't be happier that we can find that for her. They are so kind, it's brand new, the new owner came and re-did the whole thing. Everybody has their own bedroom, and they share a bath. The directors and everybody have been phenomenal. My aunt is very picky and she likes the food. She is happy with everything, they'd make her a burger, they would sit and watch a movie with her, she was one of the first patients so they'd go grab fig newtons and sit and watch a movie at night."
