"I live at Regency Retirement Village. It is a very good place to live. They have activities for anybody who wants to take part. If you don't want to take part, you don't have to. They serve three meals a day. I like the people. The staff is excellent. I have studio apartment with a regular kitchen. I will recommend them to others. "

"My dad spent three weeks at Regency Health Care And Rehabilitation Center. It was a good place for him. We had a good experience. He had good care there. He fell out of bed the first night. Not really their fault, but they made changes to help him with that. They lowered the bed and put pads on the sides, the floors, and stuff like that. And it was a good place for him to kind of get his bearings again and to recover. Their therapy was good. I don't have any complaints about it. My dad was in a private room. They had an activity room, but there was not an activity director nor any kind of grouping to do anything with them. It was more like recovering from being in the hospital. The activity room had a table and a TV and that was it. They would roll people in there who they were afraid were fall risk, but they didn't do anything with them. They just rolled them in there, turned the TV on, and sat there, so that wasn't great."

"I've visited this establishment many times in the past year to care for a fellow church member who is a resident there. There is nothing fancy about the facility, but it is certainly clean and comfortable. There are both private and semi-private rooms. The resident I visit has changed rooms, so I am very familiar with both types of rooms. All the equipment and furnishings are up to date. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I have observed that the residents appear to be well cared for, which often says a lot about the quality of a nursing home. As a former Home Economics teacher and meal planner for large establishments, I pay special attention to food quality. The food always smells and looks great, which is a big compliment coming from me! They have a small dining area and a quaint recreation room with TV. Since the resident I visit is bedridden, I am not familiar with all of the amenities, but I know they do have regular events in the rec room as well as an outdoors area. As I said previously, the nursing home itself is nothing flashy, but it is certainly clean and evident that the residents are not neglected. "

"Millennium Nursing & Rehab Center was where I wanted my wife, but Medicaid won't pay for it. My wife would have a private room, so she won't have to share with anyone else. They had an activities room. I only talked to one person there, and he seemed to be a pretty nice guy. The place was very clean and maintained. It was a nice, new building."

"My mom moved into Madison Manor Nursing Home. It's close to us. It had a pretty good record that we heard from other people who had their families in there. The facility is nice. My mom is sharing a room with another person. The meals looked okay. The staff members are very good and caring. They have activities every week. They have people coming in to play music. They have pets that they bring in sometimes. They get the residents out for lunch together."

"My mother, who suffered from stroke related dementia and was totally bedridden, lived in this wonderful facility from December 2010 through the end of September, 2012, when she passed away. She received excellent care at Valley View, both medically, and emotionally. The staff is very well trained, and always went the extra mile to make sure my mom's needs were met quickly and thoroughly. Mom considered all of her nurses, therapists, and aides to be friends, and that meant so much to me. I was traveling out of state on a regular basis, and could not be by her side as much as I would have liked, but I felt like she was in very good hands at Valley View. It was always clean, never smelled like a nursing home, and there were usually many activities for the residents to take part in, as well as entertainment by outside groups coming in frequently. The administrative staff was always very prompt to respond to questions and to help with filing insurance/medicare, etc. I highly recommend Valley View! "

"My mom is at South Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. I chose them because of the staff and the rating. The staff is very friendly. They seem to care about their patients. It's very clean. I tasted the food, and it was good. They have a great menu. I haven't seen the activities, but they have posted them."

"Mom is in Athens Convalescent Center. The staff is friendly, but the food is inadequate and it's not decorated well inside or out. It's often not clean, and it smells bad. They're not encouraged to do any activities, nor have I witnessed any activities. It's understaffed."

"My mother stayed at Athens Health and Rehabilitation. They were very kind and very attentive. My mother arrived with them not having received the information that they needed about her health, so they had to backpedal immediately. She was not mobile when she arrived and they were told she was completely mobile and they did not have all her healthcare paperwork. They persevered through and cared for her and talked with my sister and me to help to ask questions and just doing everything that they could to help us and take care of my mom. It was very clean, but it's an old facility. It wasn't dirty in any way. They did their best with what they had. My mom was only there for two weeks before she passed away, and we were in and out at least every other day at different times. The different times that the staff was there, they were wonderful at all times. They're not perfect. They were caring for all the other residents that were there, but they were phenomenal. I was there to feed her twice and it was not bad in any way. My mom was so sick when she got there and hospice was involved right away."

"The first time we went to River City Rehab, there was a lot of attention in every place. My wife came out with good and positive experience. It is good to have a place like that, but I think they need more staffing especially on the weekend. "

"My grandmother was in Limestone for about a week. They were good, the food was excellent, and the staff was nice. They were well staffed, it was very clean, and they had a lot of people there. However, they could use a little sprucing up outside. It seemed to be a very caring place."

"I found this facility lacking in medical attention given my mother. I found that the physician only came around once per week and was never available for the family to consult with. I found that, although my mom was one week from death and coughing continually from kidney failure, the staff made no effort to see that she got the proper medical care. I had to make the call which was too late. I was depending on the nurses to know what her problem was and get her treatment. They said no, I was the one who determines if she needs hospital care. What are the trained nurses role here? "

"My grandmother was placed in Ardmore On Main by recommendation of her doctor after being placed on oxygen. At 67 years old, her health was poor and doctor recommended constant supervision. At first, we despised the thought of placing her there, having heard stories about bad care in nursing homes. I was really surprised by the caring and devoted staff on hand at this facility. During our visits, she spoke highly of the nurses and staff that looked after her. She pointed out how helpful they were and how they listened to her stories. And she had a lot of stories to tell! One staff member in particular she looked extremely forward to seeing everyday because she was just so friendly. The facility itself was kept clean. I never once noticed the trash needing to be emptied or trash on the floor. I was a bit worried because they really don't have that many amenities, but my grandmother wasn't bothered by it. She was allowed to move around and visit other occupants so that she was never alone, which she hated being. All in all, I would highly recommend this facility to anyone searching for a nursing home in this area. The doctor made a great recommendation and I hope I can do the same for other people without a referral from a physician. It does like with activities for the residents to do, but it makes up for that with a kind and gentle staff. "

"My mother is staying at Summerford Health and Rehab. The experience was very good. They watch her carefully. They feed her by hand. They have a nurse practitioner on-site who checks on her. The rooms are very nice and clean. The menu is pretty good. The living atmosphere is good."
