"I toured Residences at Wellpoint. It was like a concierge hotel. It was huge and all the residents seemed to be very happy, but it was just kind of like a hotel. It's very similar to the other facility we went to only a little more high-end because it had Alexa in every single room. The staff was very open and honest about what she could and could not offer depending on our needs. She also gave us some other options as far as skilled nursing facilities to look into. They had a greenhouse area and a courtyard."

"We toured Brookdale Cedar Springs. It was great. I was so excited at this point when they showed me everything. I was very excited. I think that the room itself is what kind of turned my mother off because it was like just one room. Then you put your bed in there in the living room and everything. She couldn't see herself living in a room, per se. I talked with the sales marketing guy, and he told me that they actually were making a bedroom separate from the living room. They had some rooms that were like that. He felt that he could help me out with that situation and possibly put her there, instead of putting her in a one room. I'm anxious to go and actually get to see that myself. Hopefully, I will be able to look at that room as well, in case mom was to change her mind. Basically one of the main reasons I liked it is convenience. She would be on Spring Avenue and would be close enough to me that if I went to town to Decatur every day, I would be able to visit her. I could take her anywhere she wanted to go. Plus, I like the fact that this community center does not care about you having a checking account. They just let you pay to live there in an apartment or something, and it's just very free. They're not going to take control of your savings accounts or checking accounts, and they don't care what you have. I liked that about the place. They have activities going all the time. You have a cafeteria that has hot lunch and supper each day. They have a beauty shop. I fixed my mom at my mom's house because she owned a beauty shop. I actually can fix her hair every day in that beauty shop, and they would have no obligations to that. There's a laundry room. You're able to use the laundry room each and every time that you want to. There are so many good things about it. There's outdoor patios and stuff. If you decided to go out and sit out on the patio, you could. It's a wonderful place. I feel like that would be the place I would choose. It's clean. They have the assistance and people that help see after you. They've got handrails on each hallway. If residents need help walking, they can hold on to the rail. It's just an extremely super place, and they've always got something going on with the holidays, bingo, and cards. That's an everyday thing if that's what you wish. I did not eat there, but I did get an idea of what they were having. They were fixing to serve lunch one day while I was there, and so I did see the residents sitting at the tables and they were being served. It's not something that you have to go through a cafeteria line. You sit down at the table, and they bring it to you."

"We like Merrill Gardens at Madison's location. It's close to everything that we are interested in. It's also very conveniently located to our doctor and the hospital. That's the thing we liked best about it. They have "anytime" dining throughout the day. They have a lot of activities available. It's a very nice facility. They have beauty salons, exercise rooms, activity rooms, and movie theater rooms."

"Madison Village is a convenient location. It has a washer and dryer in the apartment and the full kitchen is great. The space is nice and it's a brand-new apartment. Nobody's lived in it yet. They'll bring food to your door and I really liked all the staff. They also have assisted living there and you can have activities and all that kind of stuff. They have buses that'll take you to your doctor's appointments and the price is right. The lady who did the tour was very knowledgeable and knew what I wanted. She told me what her pluses were and showed me different apartments. She explained everything to me, what the amenities were and how it worked. My son and I both had a delicious meal there and it was just great. It's set up like a pod with 8 units in a square and then you have a courtyard in the center and a community room in that section. It's a great situation."

"My mother is at Presbyterian Apartments. It's a 62 and over facility. She has a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment. It's fairly large. She likes it, but she's on the 11th floor, and she's not happy with a tall building. She's happy with the area, but the large building is what she's not happy with. She's 85 years old, and if a fire started there would be no way she could get down the stairs. She has been there for years. It's good. It's clean. Her apartment is a good size. I have no problems with the apartment. The staff is good, friendly, and caring. They have a music band come in twice a month. All apartments have kitchens, and residents are responsible for food. We don't have any problem there. There's a Sunday church service."

"My wife will be moving into Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville. It was a nice community, and the residents seemed happy and well cared for. There are all levels of medical care there, from independent living to skilled nursing care. The incoming cost and monthly fees were reasonable. We looked at several different apartments and different floor plans. We saw a 1-bedroom deluxe. It was a bedroom with a den that can be used as a bedroom. I could come and go 24 hours, 7 days a week. I could also participate in the amenities, like the meals. The staff was good. I had good interaction with them, they answered questions, escorted me around, and they explained everything."

"I visited Gateway Place. They had facilities for community relationships, like a workroom, gym, or something of that sort. The staff was amiable, friendly, and very helpful in showing me the facilities. For the most part they were OK in front of me. They provided trips to the local mall and department stores. They had a medical assistance there on the premises. They also had a community room with residents were playing cards and other things. The price was affordable, OK, nothing extravagant, and middle-range."

"I had a wonderful tour at Magnolia Trace. The people were very friendly. We got a chance to talk with the residents there, and they were very positive about the lifestyle there and the care that they've been given. We had lunch there and it was wonderful. The facility was great. It was very well laid out. They had assisted living going all the way up to memory care. They had apartments and villas, which were really nice. The staff was very friendly and very helpful in answering questions, and very eager to show us their facilities."

"The Commons is very pretty, attractive and clean. A washer and dryer was there, as well as a shower with an area to sit in the corner. I saw one or two ceiling fans in some rooms. The staff is very nice. The lunch was very nice. They had exercise equipment."

"My mom has been at Fleming farms for 4 years. The place is beautiful and the staff excellent. Recently we had to move mom from independent care to memory care. Melissa and her staff were so caring and helpful. They moved her over and have been as loving and attentive as anyone could hope. I feel very comfortable that’s mom’s getting the best care possible."

"Riverside Senior Living has independent living apartments, and they have assisted living and memory care. If I just decided to move, I could move there if I wanted to. They have a restaurant, and they have a chef that prepares meals. They take care people with palliative care. It's very nice. The staff were very good. It was actually the owner and her son who toured us. The place is very nice. It's decorated very well. They have very nice large rooms. They have an elevator. We didn't have a meal there, but the dining room was very nice. The residents can order meals. They have a variety of rooms. They have studios, larger studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom. It's a very beautiful location. It's right next to a park, and we can go there and walk. It's convenient from where we live. It's a beautiful area. It's by the river, and you have a beautiful view with a beautiful park next to it. They have a calendar of activities."

"I have had both knees replaced ant the PT is second to none. The rooms are very Spacious. The staff could not have treated my any better"

"We are choosing The Terrace at Priceville for my mother. First of all, it offers memory care, which is what Mom needs. It was clean, nice, and recently renovated. It had very, very friendly staff. They had an open space that was fenced in. It opens up into a courtyard area, but I don't think it's closed completely. It's got a fenced in garden area around it, and it's actually pretty large. When I was there, they were pointing out to me that some of the residents were growing a butterfly garden there. One of the residents, who was a man, wanted some vegetables, so they've agreed to put up a vegetable garden in the view of his window, because he wanted to watch them grow. Each room has its own temperature controlled unit. They've got synthetic hardwood floors. The staff who showed me around was very, very nice. She was super in touch with all of the residents around there. She was very knowledgeable about the process and was friendly. It's not a brand-new place, but it was very well-maintained. It was very nice, in particular, the interior. The grounds and everything were good."
