My mom was at The Esplanade. She didn't have much care there. I booked that place because I had gotten a promotion from them, meaning if I wasn't in by September 1st, the price would go up $500 to $600 a month, so I committed to it. The day before I was to go there, Immigration came and took 30 illegal aliens away from their staff. So when my mom went there, it was completely understaffed. My mother was there for a total of 19 days, 3 of which she spent in the hospital. She had a UTI infection. It was noted on Friday that she had the infection, but she wasn't tested until six days later, which made her delirious. Their doctor was on vacation and they had no covering doctor. My mother was fine when she went in and she was ill when she left. She was so depleted that she needs 24-hour care now. Also my mother would go down for breakfast at 8:30 and wasn't served until 10. The rooms were beautiful and the apartments were great. The place looked fabulous; however, they're understaffed. I went there three times. I was in no rush to get there. They could have straightened up their act, given me the same dollar amount for the promotion, and just said, "I'm not ready for you, I'll call you when I am," and I would have said, "I really appreciate that."

The Esplanade was in the city. It was on the 4th or 5th floor of a big building. To get in there you had to find a parking, climb into an elevator, and you had to go through the nursing home. The section of assisted living and memory impaired was very pleasant. The ladies were excellent and very nice. They were taking good care of the people. Some of my friends went there. When my husband was in the other facility, they kept on saying to me, "You got to move in there". I saw the rooms but they didn't have a private room and when I asked how long will it take they told me "When somebody goes." I don't really like the whole set up and the location. It was right in the middle of traffic, like a hotel in the city.
