"The person I visited at The Knolls really likes the place. It has a very big Olympic-sized swimming pool, and she is a swimmer, so she really loves that. She can drive her car and everything, so she is kind of on her own, and she likes that of course. She has a two-bedroom that has a really nice kitchen, and she can cook her own food if she wants. She has a washer and dryer in the bathroom, and there's one room that is set up like an office with a desk, and she can use that. I saw the dining room, but no one was eating in it. I didn't meet any staff, but my friend showed us the place herself. The facility is not brand new, but it's not really old either, so it's nice."

"Birchwood Suites didn't know I was coming for a tour, but it worked out okay. The fact that we were unexpected, and the staff wasn't prepared, she was fine. She answered all the questions. I think we're in an unusual situation that my mother-in-law doesn't want to leave her room, and they said that would be fine and they could accommodate her. Some of the other little things that we asked about, were fine with those, and they could accommodate them, too. It didn't seem to have as many activities as the other place that we go to now, but the fact that my mother-in-law doesn't come out of her room doesn't make any difference on whatever activities they have. They have apartments, but my mother-in-law wouldn't be able to use them. Because the apartments don't get the same kind of attention and care that she would need like medication checking and help with the shower and stuff like that. So she would stay in the main building where most of the staff is located rather than in the independent apartments. The building looked like it was well taken care of, and it was pretty. It's an old building. It's got character on the outside, and it's nice looking. I don't see why anyone would be uncomfortable with it. Even though there's a main road outside, it's blocked by trees. It's in a residential area. It's not in a business area at all. So it's perfectly appropriate."

"When my aunt's illness became too intense for her to remain at home, she was moved into their assisted living area. She was resistant to the idea, but after about two weeks there, she was extremely happy. I visited her this past month and she was very pleased with the location and their amenities. She was happy with how they served dinner in a family restaurant environment and was very engaged in the activities they offer. Her condition leaves her out of breath with any sort of physical activity, but she enjoys the group discussion on current events as well as the game days designed to stimulate conversation. As far as care goes, she is very particular and I expected complaints, but heard none. She states the staff respects her privacy but at the same time is responsive to her needs. Knowing how selective she is, I'm willing to give them my highest endorsement. "

"Wartburg is beautiful and amazing. It's a campus, but they have full service with nursing and rehab and different buildings on-site. It's a gated place with a large grass area. The setting is quite nice. There are lots of places to walk, and there's a little chapel on the premise. As far as the food, I would give them a rating of 5. They had music going on while we were there and interactive things. I saw an exercise room and a whole list of programs that they have going on daily like movies, beaches, and a lot of activities. The assisted living was all in one building."

"I am so thankful I found this place, taking care of My father who was 80 years old was becoming hard on me and my family, we didn’t like the idea of a nursing home so we opted for Divine Serenity. Best decision ever!! My father would call me and tell me how well taken care of he is there, along with being served 3 great meals daily. Danielle is always at the top of her game, from scheduling his doctor appointments to medication schedule, she has never missed a beat. The home is stunning sitting on an acre of land, it provides a safe outdoor area for my father to take walks, or just sit and relax on a nice day. If you want your family to be at ease while ensuring your loved ones are well cared for..look no further this is the place for you!"

"I toured The Esplanade at Palisades. The area is serene. It's beautiful with nature and everything. The prices are quite high. It's pretty much new. There's no cooking inside the room. They serve meals for you. I don't necessarily like that, but sometimes the food is not up to one's standards. You can have overnight guests like the other place. They are pet friendly also. Overall, it's a very new place, very nice, very much for a senior. Looking at the area I think they're pretty physically. But it's great for people who want this. No shops in the area, but she did say that they have car service within a 15-mile radius of any area that you want to go to, and after that, you're on your own. Shevon showed me everything. She explained everything. She did not try to hide any kind of information. And she explained, you know, certain things that they are working on. So her honesty and integrity give her a five, and her personality was very welcoming. She showed me the menu. It was nice, but it looked very sparse, there wasn't much variety. Also, it had very limited space for clothes."

"My father is 94 and always tells me how well he is taken care of. I know when I can not get there to see him they make sure they he gets out for a walk in good weather. They respect his dignity by keeping his mind occupyied by talking to him about things that interest him, like being in the war and where he grew up. They are very respectful of his feelings. A day doesn't go by that I don't thank God for such a wonderful place. "

"Bethel Health Care is one of the good ones. While no one wants to be in a facility of any kind, sometimes there is not choice. It is usually very clean. The staff is professional and courteous. Rehabilitation services are excellent, providing two sessions on most days. We did have one incident where a room was not up to standard because of the presence of insects. It was investigated and remedied immediately. Reading room, community room, and outdoor space provided for anyone interested. Food is only okay, but what can you expect. You can order outside of the traditional menu. "

"If you need assistance, they have the features to take care of it. The important thing to me was the walk-in tubs, which were good. They had doctors on-call and provide transportation to hospitals and doctors. The few staff members I met were very friendly. I'm sure it's part of their job, but they do it well. They were attentive and helpful. I saw a room with a microwave and a refrigerator, like a little kitchenette. There was also access to cable TV. I was very happy with it."

"The Springvale Inn was gorgeous but it's way too big. I stood at one end of the hallway and I said, 'my mom can't do it.' They said that they have to get themselves to the dining area on their own power, but my mom needs more assistance than that one does. The Springvale Inn was very clean and organized and the rooms were spacious. That part was nice. The only part I didn't like is that the halls were extremely long. It was beautiful, but it was too big for my mom. I only met two people and they're extremely nice and really helpful. I only saw one room and it was being redone. It's gorgeous. They had a salon and a beautiful courtyard. They had a bingo hall, a big dining area, and a smaller dining area where you could hold family things. It was very clean. "

"I checked out many facilities and wanted to get my parents a place for the long run. This place met all their needs. The rooms are great and the staff is very accommodating. They made the transition very easy. My parents are enjoying the people,staff and being close to their children, grandkids and great grandkids."

"The Residence at Selleck's Woods looks like it's going to be really nice. It has all new amenities and new a building overall. The facilities looked very promising, and right now, they're not taking people who require a lot of care. They want to get a full group of people who are pretty independent at this point and who can grow old together. So I think it would be a great community for somebody who is really, truly independent. The rooms seem really nice and beautiful, but the kitchens are small. The lady who gave us the tour was great. I felt she wasn't overly selling us and that she had the best interest of my grandfather at heart. They have a couple of activities, and they're working on getting more as they get more people living there. They have an exercise room, a hair salon, a gameroom, a billiards table, a nice garden outside, a full kitchen if you want to cook a big meal, and they have a movie theater."

"I went to Waterstone at High Ridge. A very nice facility, brand new, the food was very good, they invited us to stay for lunch, and the food was excellent. The staff that we met were all quite professional, very dedicated to their roles, and the residents. All that was good. The primary reason we didn't go there was they separate the people who need assisted living from those who are independent. They did separate those who needed memory care. That's perfectly understandable. But the people who need some manner of assisted living versus those who are independent were put in separate communities that had some common spaces, but I thought that was unnecessary and frankly, it was unattractive to my mother. So that was a negative. I think they probably only had a third to a half of the residents' rooms booked. So it was not a very large community as far as the number of people there, not that we're looking for a large community, it has the same fundamental capacity as the other place, but it was half full, and that's primarily because they've just opened their doors. I didn't think my mother would do well in a facility with not a lot of people. I think she would enjoy having more people around. So that was another negative, but that wasn't their fault, it was just because they just recently opened their doors, so they will eventually fill it. I did think they were a little pricey for what she got, or a little pricey for what my mother would use it for because there were some facilities there that she would never use. They had a very expensive gym. They have a swimming pool. Stuff like that, which at 95 she wouldn't be taking advantage of. So I felt we would have been paying for things that we wouldn't have been using."
