"We chose Sunrise of Plainview because of the size of the facility. So far, so good. It has been three weeks that my father is there, and it has been alright. Another factor in my consideration is they have a licensing to take him to hospice care. "

"The Memory Care community called Harbor at Orchard Estates is fantastic. The staff is caring, competent, engaged, loving, invested and trustworthy. The activities are fun, varied and perfectly tailored to the community. The team from the director down to the women that clean the rooms are trained and understand how to communicate and redirect behavior and I can sleep at night knowing my mother is in very capable and safe hands."

"I went to tour the Christian Fellowship House for my dad, I thought it was a very positive experience. They have a very home-like setting. They have really lovely and knowledgeable staff. Since it's a smaller environment, it's very home-like for the people who reside there. You could tell that they're well-cared for. It could even be considered that they provide skilled nursing facility-level of care for their residents, so that they don't have to leave that facility at any point, and that they can live the rest of their lives there. The staff who gave the tour's name was Pam, and she was wonderful. She couldn't have been nicer to me, she was very forthcoming, and she offered to help me even if I didn't choose that facility if I had questions about other facilities. She was very forthcoming and very transparent about everything. There are some roommate situations there, which was not what we prefer. They made an effort to have that cozy kind of feel for people so that it didn't feel like they were living in a nursing home or a hospital setting. I saw the dining facilities, I saw the social areas and there was a room where they were doing art projects. I didn't eat the food but I saw people dining for lunch at that time. It's a round table setting. The people who can socialize sat together and the people who were less social or less able to socialize just tended to be grouped also."

"My father is in Atria of Great Neck, it’s very nice, newly renovated, but overpriced. He’s in the memory care part, we had a room change, and I didn’t like that. The staff is great, but the lady I talked to was unqualified for the financial part."

"Divine Serenity Assisted Living looked like it was a residence that they converted to individual rooms. The time I was there, as far as I know, the residents were either on a trip or going to the doctor, so there were no residents there. The lady showed me the area where they would be doing work in the building. She also showed me a room. She answered all my questions. She told me how they take care of the residents. They have a nurse that comes in and a doctor. If the resident has to take medicine they take care of that too."

"My grandmother lives at Sutton Gardens. I only have the greatest things to say about the quality of care she receives. Smaller caring community with great care and food. The staff is really caring and residents are well cared for. Great pricing and fully renovated. Check it out, well worth a visit."

"I was only at Atria for about an hour. It was very clean and looked very nice. I saw a couple of residents, but most of them weren’t around. "

"My tour of Castle Senior Living at Forest Hills went well. The staff seemed pretty friendly. Right now, it is being renovated. When the renovations are completed I think it will be a really great place for senior living. So it was fine with me. The first floor was beautiful, but they were renovating the second floor, so it wasn't as upkept. One anecdote that I have was they took the seniors out to the park the day before, and the next day since they enjoyed it so much. They decided to have a picnic. Things like that are very good for the seniors, and also I found that they're really trying to make the space as beautiful as possible. From what I've seen, the staff seemed hands-on with the patients, and that's really, really important. The dining looked very interesting. They were just preparing for lunch, so everyone was just getting together to sit. I like the option that if you don't want to sit in the dining room you can have it in your room if you need. And if a family member visits, they could have a meal with the senior that's residing there. And they allow their seniors to make their space their space. They allow them to bring in their own personal items. I saw one that was so beautiful. The lady brought in her own painting, her own dresser, and her own little armchair. It was really nice."

"My dad will move into Amber Court of Pelham Gardens. The representative, Ashley, was excellent. The staff was excellent, the place was super clean, and it had a very sociable atmosphere. They were playing bingo. They had a beautiful dining and social area. They had a very nice patio. The food was good. It's not an old facility. It's very updated. The carpet was nice, and everything was good."

"My stepmother is currently at Birchwood Suites. I found the staff to be very helpful. The case manager, the people that man the desk at the front of the place, and the nurses, for the most part, I find them to be quite good and helpful. However, my stepmother is not so definite about that, and that's why she wants to move. She has certain complaints. One of the things she wants to do is see her own doctors, which she hasn't been able to do at Birchwood because they don't have transportation for that. But at the other place, she has been promised that she would be able to see her own doctors. I think the apartment is good. It was an estate that was converted into apartments. As far as the upkeep goes, it's pretty good, and maintenance seems to take care of the issues. They've had some trouble with the elevators at times, but that's been corrected. So they attend to things pretty well. My stepmother hasn't participated in a whole lot of activities. She prefers to do her own thing, so to speak. She is not pleased with the food; however, she's very particular, and as a result, she resorted to buying some of her own stuff like raisin bread, for instance, or nuts that she likes to eat. She has not given rave reviews of the food there. She says there's too much pepper on it, and she can't deal with spicy stuff. She has issues with the food, but I can't confirm any of that because I have not tried the food. I haven't had a meal there."

"Meadowview assisted living facility is the best place that I personally think is perfect for my mother. Earlier my mom did not like the idea of living in a assisted living facility, even I did not quite approve of it but later on I felt that she was indeed getting lonely and there was not much people to take proper care of her, but when we arriver at Meadowview Assisted Living at The Wartburg Adult Care Community we were astonished to see their hospitality and the place felt kinda homey . The only thing I would complain would be that it is a bit more costly that the others but it seems to be worth it as they have excellent nursing staff as well as excellent medical amenities. They most appreciable thing is that as compared to other assisted living facilities they allow us to keep out pets , my mom loved it she had two cats which were close to her heart and they let her keep it too. So overall I wonderful experience there and would recommend it to everyone else. "

"My mom has moved into The Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge. It's all-inclusive. They do her showers, feed her, make the bed, and wash the clothes. They do everything. The staff is friendly and helpful. The facility is clean, and they're always doing activities all day. They have a list on the wall of what they're doing and what time. All-day they keep the people occupied. They have TVs, shuffleboard, pool tables, checkers, chess, and things like that. It's right on Long Island Expressway, so it's very convenient to get to. Their rooms are nice. They got a big bathroom, and it's like a hotel room. They got a big room with two closets. You can bring your own TV and a mini-refrigerator. I'm very satisfied with it. It's clean and neat. You always see somebody walking around with brooms, mops and stuff, so I would say they're very clean. It seems like there's always something going on. They have their own van to take people places."
