"We moved from PA to NY a few years ago and we had to move my Mom from her facility in Pennsylvania to a facility in the Syosset area. We received some recommendations from friends that included the Fellowship House. As soon as we walked in, spoke to Pam, and met some of the staff, we were convinced it was the right place. In her PA facility Mom was introverted, largely stayed in her room, and avoided most social situations. She complained constantly and was almost never in a good mood. Only a few weeks after joining the Fellowship House family Mom's mood was turned around. She was active with the other residents, her complaining vanished, and she was overall happy. Over the past two years the staff at the Fellowship House have proven to be very caring, attentive, and professional partners in the care of Mom. I stress partners because they are very good about communicating suggestions, issues, any status changes in a clear, timely, and caring way. The care at the Fellowship House has been great, and given Mom's progress, we would highly recommend the Christian Fellowship House. "

"I went to see The Arbors Westbury. I thought it was nice, but my mother thought it seemed like the residents needed more care than she does at this time. Nevertheless, it was well kept and they seemed to have plenty of activities; they were having some programs going on that day. The facility was nice. I thought the room was a little small, but it seemed clean and well kept. Maybe it was a little small, which was actually nice because then it would be easier for my mother to get around at her age. Everyone, including the director who took the time to show us around, was very friendly. We didn’t have an appointment, but she squeezed us in, so she was very nice. "

" This was a hard year but they did a great job with covid. My mom has been safe and now things are opening up. We know she’s in good hands, she’s happy and always busy. The recreation staff is amazing. She has her friends, the staff all know her and she loves the staff it’s a great community"

"I saw Sunrise of East Meadow yesterday. It was a beautiful and very clean place. The staff members that I saw were very knowledgeable. I was pleased with the room and with the venue for the meals. It was just a lovely place to send a loved one to. I met the person who did the tour, I met a nurse as we were walking through (she stopped and talked with us), and I met the chef. He came in and did a little presentation for me on the food. The menu looked wonderful. There were plenty of amenities. There was a library, a TV room, an activities room, and a hair salon."

"We have decided on Sunrise of Dix Hills. We saw a double room, a two-bedroom, and two separate bedrooms with a shared suite and bathroom. We also saw a companion room with two rooms, and the junior suite. We were very pleased with the various activities that they offer. They also have some outings. I saw the activity room, the library, and the outside grounds for walking. They have a lot of anterooms down the hallways with little sofa chairs, coffee tables, and a larger TV. I saw some residents doing word games and there were crafts going on in another room. I was very pleased with all the amenities, including the medical services that they offer. There's a nurse practitioner and a physician."

"We chose Sunrise of West Babylon because of the location. It's got the extended license to give the level of care that my sister requires. The staff is very cooperative and pleasant. The place is nicely decorated and the food is good. They have a lot of activities like book club, crafts, exercise, and a lot of different things for the residents. They also have outings and different social gatherings, which is very nice. They have a nice selection of food and you can pick from the menu like in a restaurant. The rate is expensive, but they give a lot."

"Atria Glen Cove was a very nice place. We were very impressed with it. The rooms were much larger and we liked the facilities. They gave us a typical menu and we spoke to the manager, Judith, and she was very helpful, very nice, and very pleasant. She introduced us to some of the ladies. They had a salon with a hairdresser and everybody seemed very friendly, very smiling, and very happy. I give them very high marks. They were very nice and very helpful."

"Birchwood Suites didn't know I was coming for a tour, but it worked out okay. The fact that we were unexpected, and the staff wasn't prepared, she was fine. She answered all the questions. I think we're in an unusual situation that my mother-in-law doesn't want to leave her room, and they said that would be fine and they could accommodate her. Some of the other little things that we asked about, were fine with those, and they could accommodate them, too. It didn't seem to have as many activities as the other place that we go to now, but the fact that my mother-in-law doesn't come out of her room doesn't make any difference on whatever activities they have. They have apartments, but my mother-in-law wouldn't be able to use them. Because the apartments don't get the same kind of attention and care that she would need like medication checking and help with the shower and stuff like that. So she would stay in the main building where most of the staff is located rather than in the independent apartments. The building looked like it was well taken care of, and it was pretty. It's an old building. It's got character on the outside, and it's nice looking. I don't see why anyone would be uncomfortable with it. Even though there's a main road outside, it's blocked by trees. It's in a residential area. It's not in a business area at all. So it's perfectly appropriate."

"We have chosen The Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge for my grandmother, and our overall experience has been fantastic so far. The community has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff is very accommodating, and they go above and beyond. Grandma says that the accommodation is good, it's up-to-date, and well kept. They have activities like shuffleboard, games, music, and they go on outings. Based on what my grandma says, I would rate their food a five out of five."

"I wish anyone who chose to live at any assisted living community would get a chance to tour Atria Cutter Mill firsthand before making their choice. Our Grandad who has lived at this facility for nearly two years was skeptical at first however truly enjoys his days at Atria Cuttermill now. He has made friends with most of the other residents and whenever we can't visit him, his pseudo-family of staff members (especially Samantha V.) makes sure he is comfortable, happy and sees to it that he feels like he is part of something greater. At one point before COVID-19 he had a few doctor appointments my mother and I couldn't take him to due to other commitments. It was Samantha who booked him transportation to and from his appointments with her team of careful and safe drivers. He specifically enjoys the activities and at times has even gotten involved in the resident council group. Gramps and I speak everyday and throughout COVID that was really critical. Samantha made sure to hold regular facetime calls with a lot of residents' family members including ours and we have over a dozen people who love this man so you can just imagine! While there were a slew of reasons Gramps moved into Atria Cuttermill, the one main reason he has stays is because of staff members like Samantha who make him and by default us, feel safe and confidant that he is truly living out his life the best way at this stage. We cannot thank you enough but I hope these words show just how appreciative our family is to not only Samantha but to the team of employees working to create a true sense of community at Atria Cuttermill. "My dad is currently at Atria Park of Lynbrook. It's a nice place but it's expensive and they don't take Medicaid, but it's been a good place so far. It's been up and down with the community, they provide a lot of care for my father. There have been some frustrating instances in just dealing with his medication and his needs, but they have tried to work with me in getting the right levels of care for him. The facility is very clean, it has a gorgeous layout. They've done a lot of renovations so it looks gorgeous. Recently, they have had a lot of staff turnover, but overall the staff is good. I think that the Medtech could be more understanding in terms of patience. My dad doesn't always like the food. I don't think they have as many activities as they could."

"It was bright and cheerful, and the person who took us around was very nice and helpful. I liked the apartments. I had gone to a few other places, and they only had studios. At The Arbor, I will get a one-bedroom. When you first walk in, you walk into a big common area like a living room, then the dining room area, but there were no kitchens in these places. The living space was separated from the bedroom and bath area. It had a lot of shelves and drawers, and it had a refrigerator in there. The bathroom was on the right side, which was big and beautiful, and to the back was the bedroom. It's a fairly good sized unit, and it had a big window, so it was nice and bright. They serve three meals a day, and they have a menu that you can choose from, which is quite a nice selection. They have arts, painting, a small gym, and music classes, and they take you out a couple times a week to the shopping mall or to the bank once a week. They have trips that take you to your place of interest on the island. I do a lot of hobbies like knitting, crocheting, and painting, and I could teach a couple of classes there. I saw a couple of the residents, and they seemed happy. There were three different sections. I would be going in the East where everybody is mobile and can take care of themselves, which is more like an apartment complex. The West side has people who need a little more help. Then they have the nursing home on the other side. You can go from every level down to where you will eventually wind up. If I have the surgery, they have people that would come in and help me with the rehab. It seemed like everything was available that I would want. They also told me I could do a trial month. If I wasn't sure, they would let me come and pay for a month and stay there and see how I like it before I sign up, which I thought was nice. I also chose it because the location is closer to my family members, and also the price is more in my range. "
