Sunrise of Huntington

I got to Sunrise of Huntington early, so I walked around the whole place and checked the parking. The landscaping was good. I went in and they showed me those boards, like a little computer terminal where you put your name so it's on file that you're in the building for the safety of the residents. I was given a tour of the building and I was taken to a room. It was a two person room, but it was just being set up, and I couldn't find anything negative about it. They had the menu. They had the people that would help and they also had a nurse. If a resident needed medicine, they would do that too. They were friendly. They said their hellos. They were setting up for something where somebody was going to play an instrument or something. I was shown to the room, how it was set up, and the bedrooms had grab bars.

I toured Sunrise of Huntington. The overall physical presentation was very nice. I felt there wasn't much activity. Overall, my feeling was cold. It was nice, and the outdoors was nice, but what threw me off was the feeling of inactivity. I didn't notice anything particular in terms of common areas. The tour was just a little walk around. The room seemed very nice. It was new and it was very pleasant surroundings. But the people were kind of sitting around. I did not see people actively engaged and that's what threw me off. The staff who guided me was very pleasant and very accommodating. She answered my questions and gave me a tour.

This facility is very disappointing! I would certainly not recommend this facility for someone who is wheelchair bound. This facility is not staffed appropriately for their needs to be met. The facility also adds arbitrary fees whenever they want to generate income. The most recent being an "Assessment fee", which adds $930 to your already "exorbitant' monthly bill. The "written explanation" to this fee was to be able to attract staff back to the facility after covid loses. (This additional cost should not be passed on to existing residents). DO NOT SEND SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS FACILITY!

Sunrise Senior Living of Huntington Assisted Living was good, but it seemed very pricey. You know, we're talking about another thirty thousand, twenty-five thousand a year. So I said, I kind of have a sort of budget I have to work with. And when I compared it to the other facilities, you know, I said, "well, why pay that?" The facilities were good. I enjoyed everything, but because of the pricing, it kind of pulls the score back down around four. It's clean, it's nice. The staff is OK. They answered all the questions, everything that I had, and offered some information. They've got puzzles, bingo, pretty much the same as the other places.

The services they provided at Sunrise Senior Living of Huntington were beyond my wife's needs, but we're very pleased with it. The staff who conducted the tour and talked with us was excellent, very helpful and very cooperative. They do follow-up calls with me. The apartment was clean and well furnished. The dining area was clean and well taken care of. They have activities that you would find in a nursing home like exercise and games.
