"I went to the Orchard Estate of Woodbury. There is nothing bad that I could say about that place. It was very clean. It was organized, and it was a very pleasant place to be. The atmosphere was pleasant and cheery. It was not a depressing place. It was just a beautiful place to be. They had organized activities. It was very, very nice. From what I saw, everybody was congenial, pleasant, and helpful."

"My father moved in to Atria Plainview six weeks ago. I couldn’t be happier with the warm and caring staff. They made him feel welcomed and comfortable right away. They communicated with me whenever I had any questions. I am so thankful to have a found a place where my dad is getting such great care and he seems happier and healthier than he has been in a while!"

"Sunrise of Plainview was a beautiful place. It was just a lot more expensive, but my tour experience was great. All the people that worked there were nice, just by walking and saying hello. It seemed like a place you'd want somebody you love to be. They got nice big rooms. Everything was kept up nice. The staff was very informative and helpful. They answered any of my questions right away."

"I visited Whisper Woods of Smithtown, and it was a good tour. The facility is the newest that we saw. It is well laid out also with a secure courtyard area for the residents to be outside in good weather. They had good programing, comprehensive programing. We did not have an opportunity to interact with any staff aside from the person who gave us the tour. The pricing was in the middle, closer to the more expensive. They look very nice; they would be suitable for my wife. They are mostly shared. There are very few private rooms in this particular facility, but in a shared room set up, they do have a more private setting than other shared rooms. Two rooms look pretty much private, except they share a bathroom. That's how the vast majority of their setup works. So, for sleeping, you have privacy, but you share a bathroom that's connecting the two rooms. I think the facility was the thing that we liked the most. We didn't have a chance to try the food. We also did not get a chance to interact with any other staff, but we did see some programming underway."

"The Arbors Hauppauge was the best. It was a nice, large facility. They were very competent. They knew about everything. They brought us into a room, and they offered coffee and snacks. They talked directly to my mother-in-law, (not to me), although they knew I was listening. They made her feel like she was part of the experience. Then they gave us a tour and they walked at my mother-in-law's pace because she's older, so that was very nice. They invited us back to come back for a bingo game. I just felt like it was a beautiful place, and I would definitely go there if I could one day, if I could afford it. They had elevators there, and they had different wings. The only downside is that it is really big, and a lot of the people can barely walk. If you're in a room and then the restaurant is so far away, you'd better be healthy or in a wheelchair because it's big. If the elevators ever break, it could be a problem. They have single rooms, but we didn't see them. They were out of control; it was out of our price range. They had bocce and a lot of courtyard stuff. They even had an outdoor barbecue."

"Amber Court of Westbury seemed very hands-on with the people, and they had full-time nursing staff there. The facility was lovely. The outdoor area was lovely, too. The rooms seemed very nice. They had a nice gym. They also had a beauty parlor that had people there every day. The staff was very knowledgeable. The dining set-up was typical of assisted living. It was spacious and bright. The residents were engaged in various activities."

"Dad was at The Arbors before he passed away over a year ago. It was excellent. If I had the money right now, I would move in there. My sister picked this place because it was closer to her house. It was easy for her to go back and forth. We visit dad seven days a week and we were able to take him out to dinner often. The rooms are always clean. They had a separate dining room from the sitting area and they have a separate room for TV. They have a full-size pool table, and my father liked to play pool. People would come in with their pet dogs or cats. The staff was very good. You ask them a question and you will always get a direct answer. If they didn't have an answer, they would definitely get back to you. I would recommend The Arbors to anybody if they had the money to put their parents there. "

"My mother’s been at The Arbors East over a year and a half and it was the best decision we could’ve made. She loves the staff, everyone is friendly and exceptionally good to her. She is very happy with the food, the quality and selection and, as she puts it “the goodies” in the afternoon. She plays mahjongg, canasta, and several card games. She participates in the trips out on their bus, to the movies and stores, but not to the restaurants because she says she likes the food there, so why bother. Her medical care is taken care of by the efficient Wellness Center and the doctors who visit her there regularly. All-in-all we couldn’t be happier - highly recommended!"

"My mom moved into Amber Court Of Smith Town. It is a nice and clean community. They have a lot of choices regarding food and a lot of activities. My mom likes it overall. They watch movies together, do theater plays, play bingo games, and do birthday parties for people. Their amenities are very good and very helpful. I checked a few different ones, and this was the best from what I saw. The staff members are very helpful and friendly. They talk to my mother, make her feel at home, help her where to find things, how to do things, and find friends."

"My mother-in-law is in Atria Darien. They've got palliative care coming in to care for her now, so we're just gonna leave her there. It's like a five-star hotel. It is a beautiful senior facility. It is not for the memory impaired. Most people there just need a little assistance. Some of them have their own cars, so it's just senior living, but it's very beautifully kept and it's clean. The people are very, very nice. The one big drawback is it's extremely expensive. She has a 24-hour aide, but a lot of them don't have aides at all. There's no lockdown or anything like that. You're free to come and go. She has a double room with two full bathrooms because she is very, very competent mentally and she wanted to have an office. They have a studio and a room and a half. They have different options. There are two libraries, a wonderful hair salon, and two dining rooms. There's a chef who's been there for over 24 years, and the food is very good. There are several courtyards for the residents to go out and enjoy. The rooms are comparable to others in the area, price-wise. When you add the assistance, then it becomes extremely expensive."

"We will be moving mom to Amber Court of Lake Shore and the reason is because of the price. It's cheaper and affordable. The people there seem nice. The tour was cool, and it's nice that there's a lake right across the street. It seems like a friendly environment. The residents are also pretty nice because they were talking to us as we were walking. The shared room is $2500 and the private room is $3000 and that's within my mom's budget. Also, the care and stuff like that are all added into her budget and it's affordable for her. They have round-the-a-clock care. They got a bingo room, a room with a pool table lounge, and then they got another TV lounge area. The dining room is pretty big for the most part. The rooms are sized nicely, even if she were to share a room (which I would prefer for Mom so that way at least she has somebody to talk to and make a new friend). They're under construction right now. They have gates in places so the residents can't go to those areas, but they have a hair salon there. Probably once the place is done, it is going to look immaculate. From the remodeling that I saw, it looks very, very nice."

"My mother has been living at Maplewood at Darien for the past 18 months, and as we have all endured hardships since the pandemic, I must say that Maplewood has handled this delicate situation with the utmost care and integrity. The staff is professional, and the facilities are very clean."

"My mother’s sister is at the Arbors. It was very much like a nursing home, and it didn’t quite fit my mom who was a little bit independent. The people in there needed a little bit more attention. The staff was great, accommodating, and we had a wonderful time. I think they did a fabulous job with my aunt. "
