"Sunrise at Smithtown was my grandmother's home for the last two years of her life. Visiting her was often a stressful time. The smell of the facility was not pleasant. The staff did seem to try to engage the residents but I also saw men and women in wheelchairs lining the hallways for hours at a time. The staff would greet my family and I when we would visit. The staff would try to engage my grandmother in conversation but it was often futile. She was always clean. They took care to ensure that she did not get bed sores, which was a concern. Overall my family was very happy with this facility. We have recommended it to other family members and friends. They took care to ensure that my grandmother was always safe. I did see a resident try to walk out of the door on their own a few times and they were always stopped. This made us feel like we entrusted the right facility with my grandmother's well-being. When she died, the nurses were very caring and talked kindly about my grandmother. They thought it was wonderful that she died without a wrinkle on her face. She did, indeed. "

"We picked The Arbors East in Islandia (The Arbors at Islandia East). My in-laws have now been there for a month and a half to two months now. It is a nice, clean facility with a wide variety of people. The food looks good. The space itself is clean, large, and seems to have enough facilities. The community both has the assisted living and the memory care areas, and they work near each other. It is near my home. They do a decent job on the assisted living, but my in-laws are in the memory care, and it seems somewhat restrictive; maybe too restrictive. The best thing about the Arbors is that their pricing is all-inclusive, so there aren't suprises in terms of the service. "

"Sunrise of Huntington was very warm and welcoming. The staff was very nice and professional. The dining area was very clean and very elegant. They provide very good food. They have social events, bingo, and cooking classes. They have a lot of different things going on there. The place was beautiful."

"My mom is a resident of Amber Court of Smithtown. They're very good at communicating. If there's an issue, I get immediate results. Everything's been taken care of. The staff has been wonderful. My mom's now in a shared room. There are a lot of activities for them to do if they want to do them. They have a lovely front area where they can sit and enjoy. There are benches where they can sit outside and enjoy the sun. They do a lot of nice socializing. Everybody gets along. I have heard other people complaining about the food, but I always ask my mom, and she's been very happy with it. It's the same price range as everybody else."

"Divine Serenity Assisted Living looked like it was a residence that they converted to individual rooms. The time I was there, as far as I know, the residents were either on a trip or going to the doctor, so there were no residents there. The lady showed me the area where they would be doing work in the building. She also showed me a room. She answered all my questions. She told me how they take care of the residents. They have a nurse that comes in and a doctor. If the resident has to take medicine they take care of that too."

"Atria Bay Shore is a new facility. It’s a very nice place. The residents there looked active and are doing things. They were a lot of activities going on and it was well organized. Their common areas were large. The staff were very, very friendly and very outgoing. "

"My sister is here. Her room is very nice, spacious, and clean. She's happy with it. The staff is excellent, and I haven't had any complaints at all. I had a good meal there. They have bingo, a bowling alley, and go out in a bus for shopping, and she's happy about that. They're very caring, and it has a pleasant atmosphere."

"I left my tour of Sunrise Plainview with a very good feeling. It is expensive but perhaps the saying is true, "you get what you pay for." The woman who led the tour, Anne, was delightful. She spend a considerable amount of time answering questions and making sure I was generally comfortable with everything. The residents seemed to be involved in activities and happy. The facility was immaculate. The only concern is that although the memory neighborhood is on the first floor, the other resident rooms/apartments I saw are on the second floor. If ever, G-d forbid an emergency evacuation was necessary, that's a lot of people to carry down the stairs. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with most facilities I looked into. All in all, this looks like a great place. "

"Atria is very beautiful, top of the line, but they’re very expensive. The people were pleasant. It was clean, and well-maintained. "

"My mother-in-law is now at The Arbors at Bohemia. I love it. We're very happy and I think they're great. It's like a big living room, but it's not overly fancy. It's very nice, with couches, chairs, a beautiful dining room, and shared and private rooms which are also very nice. The staff is very pleasant, accommodating, and patient. I think the food is great and they have nice choices. I haven't tasted the food, but we've seen how it's laid out and what they serve, and it's very nice. They don't charge you by the levels; it's one rate. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair so she needs help and they're very great with that, plus she needs medication help and they take care of that. They have an activity going every hour. I would definitely rate the staff with a five. They're amazing. And the facilities there are good, so we're happy with that."

"That this facility and their excellent supporting staff in my opinion are doing God’s work looking and caring for the memory impaired with compassion and loving care. My sister has been in the Christian Fellowhip House for over 19 months. In the beginning she resisted and didn’t want to be there saying she could take care of herself wanting to live on her own against the doctors stating that she couldn’t live on her own and needed full time care and supervision. She soon learned to adjust and told me everyone treated her well, the food was better than when she ate in a restaurant. She since gained weight that her doctor told her to lose. I can’t speak enough of the supporting staff. I call them guardian angels caring g for the disadvantaged. If you have a loved one who is memory challenged and want the best for them I couldn’t recommend a better place."

"I did a tour. They took us to two different sites within the facility there. One part for assisted living and one part for advanced care. Some of the apartments have a kitchenette. They had a lot more activities and schedules. They have a beauty salon. They have more planned activities, and they have a rehab on site. The staff were very knowledgeable. They were friendly and welcoming. The residents were the same: very friendly and very welcoming. It was a nice experience. The facility was nice and clean. The grounds were clean."
