"I wish anyone who chose to live at any assisted living community would get a chance to tour Atria Cutter Mill firsthand before making their choice. Our Grandad who has lived at this facility for nearly two years was skeptical at first however truly enjoys his days at Atria Cuttermill now. He has made friends with most of the other residents and whenever we can't visit him, his pseudo-family of staff members (especially Samantha V.) makes sure he is comfortable, happy and sees to it that he feels like he is part of something greater. At one point before COVID-19 he had a few doctor appointments my mother and I couldn't take him to due to other commitments. It was Samantha who booked him transportation to and from his appointments with her team of careful and safe drivers. He specifically enjoys the activities and at times has even gotten involved in the resident council group. Gramps and I speak everyday and throughout COVID that was really critical. Samantha made sure to hold regular facetime calls with a lot of residents' family members including ours and we have over a dozen people who love this man so you can just imagine! While there were a slew of reasons Gramps moved into Atria Cuttermill, the one main reason he has stays is because of staff members like Samantha who make him and by default us, feel safe and confidant that he is truly living out his life the best way at this stage. We cannot thank you enough but I hope these words show just how appreciative our family is to not only Samantha but to the team of employees working to create a true sense of community at Atria Cuttermill. Stay well! "

"The care at Orchard Estate of Woodbury is truly exceptional. We moved my mother in law to memory care here when the facility opened, about six months before Covid hit our area, and we've seen the leadership and staff rise to meet every challenge since then. They do a consistently remarkable job to ensure that their residents get the kind of compassionate treatment they'd want their own family members to receive, and they go above and beyond to ensure a warm, positive environment for the residents and their families as well. We are beyond grateful for their professionalism and expertise, and for their genuine concern, day in and day out. Their services are invaluable to us. They are lifesavers in every sense of the word. "

"My mom is a resident of Atria Plainview. I highly recommend them; I would live there myself if I could. The location and the people are fabulous. The food is okay. The apartment is wonderful. She is very happy there, they're very sweet to her and very caring. They were exactly what you want them to be. They have bingo and Jeopardy. The Rabbi was there, and they have rosary every morning. They take them in little buses to the stores and drive them to church every Sunday. They have handymen on staff if my mother can't figure out how to use the thermostat, they'll come in and fix it. The nursing people who give out the medication are wonderful. They pop into my mom's room three times a day with pills that she takes legitimately. I don't have to worry about her taking the wrong pills because I know she's being handed by a professional. They shower her three times a week, and she said they're very good about it."

"Sunrise of Plainview was lovely. It was not too big. It was the one I liked the best. They had an apartment with a kitchen area, a living room, and a bedroom. It was very nice, and it had cement walls. Everything was homemade by the chef, and I had a macaroni salad. That was the most delicious macaroni salad I ever tasted. The chef was excellent. My husband had a bacon, lettuce, and tomato on toast, which was really good. The bacon was perfect. He loved it. The staff was excellent. The lady that we met was great. It was really a very nice place. I would move in there tomorrow, if I could afford it."

"I really liked the Christian Fellowship House. This is a place where I feel like you have to kind of live close by because the location is very difficult to get to. I had to literally drive around a few times before I couldn't figure out where exactly it was. It's not easily accessible on the main road to get there. I literally did not choose this place because I feel like none of my family members would actually drive there. The rooms were absolutely excellent. It's very homey. They have very nice comforters. It's set up like your own home, like you would not feel like you're in a facility. They have a dining area where everyone eats. They have a living room area where people sit down. It had real furniture, like someone's home. It's very nice. It's not really a place for people who are in wheelchairs or if your parent is a fall risk. When you're going into the bedrooms on the second floor, the hallways were very narrow and there were steps. I feel like it's a big fall risk for people who may be a little unsteady on their feet. That's just kind of how I felt since my dad is kind of like in between, sometimes he's in a wheelchair, sometimes he can get up and use a walker. I just felt like it would be too much of a fall risk for him. Everyone working there looked happy. The residents looked happy. It was a very nice place. I really liked the people there. The room that my father would have gotten would have been perfect. I didn't expect it to be as nice when I first got there because it was like in the middle of the woods, kind of creepy and scary, but once you get inside, it's like a completely different situation."

"Castle Senior Living at Forest Hills was very nice and very convenient for the residents. The staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The food was delicious, but when we went there, the dining room was cold. The apartment we saw looked very nice. We also saw people playing bingo."

"Divine Serenity Assisted Living looked like it was a residence that they converted to individual rooms. The time I was there, as far as I know, the residents were either on a trip or going to the doctor, so there were no residents there. The lady showed me the area where they would be doing work in the building. She also showed me a room. She answered all my questions. She told me how they take care of the residents. They have a nurse that comes in and a doctor. If the resident has to take medicine they take care of that too."

"The only place we saw was the Amber Court of Pelham Gardens. They have private rooms, which I thought was nice, but it is expensive. I'm only realizing now that I cannot afford it, so I would have to share a room with someone I don't know. However, I think that Amber Court of Pelham Gardens was a place that we were definitely considering. It was clean. The person who walked through with us was very nice and very informative. We saw that they did have activities. We didn't see exactly what they were, but I saw they did have activities. I know that you can leave the grounds and walk around, which is a plus. It was a very pleasant tour. The place was clean outside and inside. I think there was a gym and a salon."

"Meadowview assisted living facility is the best place that I personally think is perfect for my mother. Earlier my mom did not like the idea of living in a assisted living facility, even I did not quite approve of it but later on I felt that she was indeed getting lonely and there was not much people to take proper care of her, but when we arriver at Meadowview Assisted Living at The Wartburg Adult Care Community we were astonished to see their hospitality and the place felt kinda homey . The only thing I would complain would be that it is a bit more costly that the others but it seems to be worth it as they have excellent nursing staff as well as excellent medical amenities. They most appreciable thing is that as compared to other assisted living facilities they allow us to keep out pets , my mom loved it she had two cats which were close to her heart and they let her keep it too. So overall I wonderful experience there and would recommend it to everyone else. "

"My husbands sister is a new resident at Harbor View and we couldn’t be happier or more comforted by the loving care she is receiving. The staff has been so welcoming! We had concerns about her adjustment but in a short time she tells us she is happy, has made friends and that everyone she deals with is wonderful. Marla, the director, is amazing, has addressed every question we have had with utmost care and attention. We feel blessed to have found this wonderful home! Her room is bright and cheery, she speaks about happy activities. The community has all of the wonderful features of Sheepshead Bay, waterfront, great restaurants , etc. "

"I looked at The Waterford Senior Living. I had a family member placed there. There are good things about it, but there's confusion. There's a lack of communication. There are problems on and off. He likes it, which is good for him. They have a beautiful view, and the rooms are ok, they're nice. It needs updating in the halls, but the rooms are good. The food is fair. They have somebody that does hair, they have a podiatrist that comes around. They have a doctor, which I would say would only be for the simplest of ailments. They do have an activity room, it didn't seem great, it was kind of dingy, and they need to modernize the building. They're doing one room at a time. Some of the rooms are new, some are updated and some of them are not like the hallways, it's kind of dark. I think it needs to be brightened up. They have a beautiful outdoor back area. You can sit by the water. It is beautiful. The view, it's right on the bay. That's really nice. The staff is very nice, but they're just too busy."
