My mother's experience in Oakpointe Senior Care and Rehab Center was almost tragic. In the sense that she lost nearly 30 pounds within two weeks. The experience she had there is one that I wouldn't wish upon anybody. Initially, based on the reviews that I saw, I felt that it was a reputable facility because of the high marks that it received, I guess, based on a Medicare type survey, but my mother didn't receive that type of treatment. I believe that there was neglect. So, I would suggest no one ever put their family member in that place. There should be open and constant communication. If there's an issue of any sort, the facility should reach out to the family or the caregiver immediately and say what the issues are, if they happened to be in it. So, there should always be an open line of communication. For me, it was always me reaching out to them and then most of the time, I wasn't even able to get in contact with anyone. That would be an area of improvement.

Staff is cold and uncaring. Leave residents that can't move/shift own body in a hard chair in the hallway for 3 hours starting at 6a.m. Don't respect residents needs or feelings or family members for that matter.

Over-rated, cold, and uncaring. A nightmare.

My dad is receiving the care that he needs and everything at Oakpointe -- occupational therapy, physical therapy, and all his different sorts of doctors' appointments and stuff that he needs, his care obviously within, and everything else. So they help him bathe and dress, and he gets three meals a day. My dad is a very picky eater and won't eat if it doesn’t taste good, but he has put on weight since being moved there in December, so obviously he likes the food. On Father's Day, they had a singer and a state dinner for all the fathers in the facility, so they do various activities. I am impressed by the friendliness and willingness to help from the staff. We are always greeted and talked to, and they are always willing to help if we have questions or something when we visit our father. They talk to him and interact with him as well.
