"I liked The Conservatory a lot. The people had to serve themselves, which would be fine for my mother, but it would be hard for other people that were not as mobile. The rooms were very nice with lovely, ornate furnishings, but the lighting is dark. The atmosphere is homey. "

"Our visit at Provident Crossing was a very good experience, but it just wasn't everything that my father-in-law's cousin needed. It was like a cruise ship. It was terrific. It was beautiful. They had big apartments. It was less expensive, but it was independent living, and she needed more than independent living. The staff was very nice and very friendly. They had a nice dining area. The way it was set up was very nice. They had an area that was only for evening dining, where they would be served at their tables. Part of it was set up like buffet style, which they could go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They had a nice snack area, so if they missed their lunch or something, or they needed a little something in the afternoon, they had pre-prepared sandwiches that they could go in. "

"My overall experience living in The Oaks Gracious Retirement is very good. The building is three stories with a hundred something residents, and nice amenities. They have a bus, and my studio room is really spacious. It has a kitchen, a full refrigerator and freezer, and my own bathroom. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff is very responsive to problems. They would also do renovations if you want some additions or some amenities. The staff is generally responsive and very friendly. We have generally very good meals. There are sports activities, contests, different card games and activities several times a week or sometimes twice a day. They have a small shop onsite with basic things that you might need."

"I went to The Oscar at Georgetown and toured for independent living. The facility was very nice, and the gentleman in the marketing department was lovely. The manager was also very nice. He came out very friendly and called me a couple of times before the tour. He was very nice and showed me all around. I also went to lunch there and it was horrible. We went to a snack bar, and the person who gave the tour had lunch with me there. We had a choice between what they had for breakfast, or two choices of sandwiches, that was it. I wouldn't say it was a meal, just a snack. However, I heard the place for dinner is very nice and the food is good at dinner. The place is brand new so there's hardly anybody living there now, but it is lovely and very clean. They even have an indoor swimming pool. It's also very expensive."

"We went to The Delaney at Georgetown Village for my friends. It's large, it seems lavish. The guy that took us around, he is the right person in the right job. He was very pleasant, easygoing. They seemed to have a lot of activities for the husband, who's still independently capable, but still has a lot of care for his wife that needs a lot of care. I know the husband loved the social aspect, so many things going on that he could take part in. The ceilings were high and it seemed very spacious, and the meals, the menus seemed like you were at a resort. That's how it feels. And he really liked it and he would have done it, except it was so expensive. We saw a two-bedroom apartment that was available on the ground floor, and that's the only one we went into. It was quite nice. It would have worked well for them. The staff was friendly, low key, he didn't seem like he was pitching it, and he just seemed comfortable, affable, and discerning as to what their needs were. "

"Belmont has been very helpful and friendly. They’ve taken very good care of her. She was very skeptical, but from the very beginning until now she was very happy there. She does like the food. They have a very nice dining room, and they have selections. "

"I appreciate the thoroughness of the information that was given to me by Brookdale Westlake Hills. It was a good fit for someone who is looking for a continuing care facility. I saw all the levels of care they offer, which includes independent living, assisted living, and a nursing home, and I thought the facility was well-maintained."

"We went to look at Brookdale Gaines Ranch. The apartment that they showed us has a very small kitchen. There was no washer and dryer. You have to go down the hall to share with someone else. It looked like they had a great deal of storage in the place. It's not a bad place, except that the apartment itself does not compare to the other facility. They don't have in-house parking. If they don't have enough parking outside, they have reserved parking for all residents, and you have to pay for it. The facility looked nice. They had a lot of amenities. The staff was excellent, very well versed, knowledgeable, and had a very nice personality."

"My older sister opted for The Continental in Austin. My sister really likes it. They offer home health which is not exactly assisted living, but what they offer seems to be appropriate for what she was looking for, and so far we are happy. She has only been there not even a week, but the people are extremely helpful, nice, and attentive. The facilities are all wonderful, and she likes the food. I haven't heard anything negative from her about the place. They have a full schedule of activities. They go out to plays, movies, and restaurants. They take people to groceries stores and to doctors' appointments. There is always something going on, and it is very active. You can bring your own stuff. They have about six or seven floor plans ranging from a very small to a large two bedroom. They are all attractive. They put new stuff in before each new resident moves in, so the carpet is new, and the room is beautifully painted. They are quite nice. One thing that I especially appreciated is that compared to comparable independent living that has home health in the premises, their community's first time non-refundable fees is only half the rent. So that was especially attractive considering how nice the place is. "

"Village on the Park looked like a great community. They take care of you physically, provide three meals a day, and have different kinds of recreation. The dining area was very nice, and the food that we have was delicious. They have a lot of different things, but they must have more options for the meals. "

"We toured Mariposa Apartment Homes at Cedar Park. The tour was wonderful. The guide was very good. She pointed out all of the amenities and answered any questions we had. They did have a pool. They did have small kitchens. They did not serve meals, so that was a plus for them. Things seemed a little dated, and that was the only thing I noticed. They have a game room, a TV room, and an exercise room."

"I've moved into Everleigh Lakeline. It's a 55-plus community. From the first day that I walked on the tour, I fell in love with it. It's everything that I want and need to be around other people my age and not just be in my house and just in my bedroom depressed. It's got the amenities, the little arts and crafts, the gym, just things I can do with other people, talk to other people. The staff is great. Everybody here is just so friendly. I have an apartment and it's beautiful. It's got everything that I need. It's the right size for just me. They're family-oriented, too. I had my grandson here this past weekend and we just had so much fun. You can move in, but you can't have anybody stay overnight. That's not the way this property works. I have my dog and my cat. They're my emotional support animals, so I can have them here. Everybody has animals around here, little dogs, medium-sized dogs. They have a big dog park for the animals. I feel at home here. I take my dog out for a walk. We go walking three-and-a-half miles where before I wouldn't even bother taking the dogs out for any type of walk. I get out and talk to everybody. There are people older than me here and I am so surprised at how they can just function and get along well out here. We have a gym here, we have water aerobics, and we have yoga classes. There's a continental breakfast five days a week. Other than that, we have our own kitchens, so we prepare our own food. There's always something going on. It seems like everybody, if they're not exercising or in the pool or whatever, walking, a lot of them walk around here through the facility and there are games that they play. I was just very surprised at how everybody just gathers and greets everybody. Everybody's just so nice here, all the residents are, and the staff is, too. I haven't had problems with the staff at all."
