"The Clairmont was very welcoming. As we approached the building, there were walkers outside, there were people there, and they greeted you. It's clean. The person who gave us the tour was fabulous. We went through and saw a couple of different units. We selected a two-bedroom unit. It needed a little bit of work, so they're getting that taken care of. We went back afterward on another date and played bingo and met some of the people that live there. My mom is just going to fit in there perfectly. Everyone was helpful. They answered any questions that we had. We saw the menu, and the food looked fabulous. Everybody said the food was fabulous, but I haven't physically tried the food."

"I have already moved into The Conservatory at North Austin. The management and the other residents are friendly. The management seems to be very involved with the residents and with the running of the facility. They offered numerous, numerous activities. I'm very comfortable that I made the right decision. They come and clean your place every other week. With the cable service that I have for my TV, I have more channels than I would ever watch. They're very good. They have a beauty salon where they do perms, colors, and haircuts, and they have a garden. They have a landscaping committee. Today it's National Airplane Day, and they're having a 'make-your-airplane.' This weekend they're having a Latin's Day with music and guitar. They're involved like yesterday the CEO was in the dining room shampooing carpets. They stop and speak to us every time they pass by. They ask how things are going and if you feel very comfortable. You can come to them if you have a question. I just find them very involved. I've only been here a couple of weeks, but I don't have any complaints."

"My daughter and I toured the Lakeline Oaks, an independent living community. The director was fantastic and took us around. I like the fact that there's a director and one of the managers who are on-site all the time because they live there. I also liked the fact that it was well kept up and had a great view. When you walk in, you will feel like it is a fun place. The people there were also very nice and very friendly. This place was eye-catching. They had done their rooms and modeled it to feel like you are going on a cruise ship. I believe that's what I had been told. The theater was eye-catching, too, like a regular theater would be. It had so many little quirks, so it's very interesting. They also had everything at the facility, so there wasn't even a reason to go out. Everything is also close. There were stores and restaurants around where it is located if you want to go out. I couldn't see any need to go out, though, because of the stuff offered at the facility."

"Maple Ridge was the best possible answer for our mother. She lived there for 2 1/2 years, and those are years we may not have had if we had left her in her home. Her apartment was pretty, spacious with lots of storage, and a very safe bathroom. The dining room was so nice and the food always delicious (she added weight back that was desperately needed). The entire staff was always gracious and helpful. The common facilities always kept clean and nice. The last months she was there, it was an incredible blessing to have access to the onsite caregiver groups."

"Village on the Park Onion Creek was chosen because my mother has an outside entrance with a patio -- we can go to the patio and visit her, so we don't have to go into the building -- and also the price. The main thing was the accessibility to visit. The staff members seem pretty nice. The room is quite large with a separate bedroom, nice windows, and a kitchenette. With COVID, the activities are extremely limited. They have exercise class, bingo, and she has joined a riders club. They were the nicest facility for the value."

"My mother liked Provident Crossings Retirement Resort. It was very nice. All the guests were friendly and the coordinator was very thorough with the tour. I liked all of the activities. It was just very clean and uplifting, not like some other places that you go into, and are kind of depressing. Everybody seemed happy. They have transportation. They have guestrooms for your family to stay in if they come to visit you. They have arts and crafts, a nice theater, a physical therapy room, and a puzzle room. I like that the mailboxes are right there in the main lobby. There's always somebody on duty at the concierge desk. It's very secure. All the doors are locked from the outside. You can get out, but you can't get back in. You have to go back around to the front door to get back in. During the tour, everyone that we encountered introduced themselves and was very nice. We met with the housekeeping staff. The chef that was onsite came out and introduced himself and said if mom had any particular food needs or whatever, he would take care of it. We had lunch and it was very good. It was what they were serving the guests that day and it was very good and very nutritious."

"Asher Point Independent Living of Round Rock was lovely. I really liked the layout. I got to chat briefly with the chef. He's been with them for a really long time. I got to see what some of the rooms looked like. I got to walk some of the grounds, which was really nice. What I enjoyed was the sitting areas outside. There are trees over there. I looked at a one-bedroom. I loved the way it was laid out. They have activity spaces, and they have people come in and sing and play the piano. They have this sizable game room that I really liked, and there was a lady in there doing some puzzle work, and they had some craft rooms. The staff was wonderful. She answered all the questions I had."

"The tour I had at Highland Estates was great. It's a beautiful place, the kind that I would love to put my mom in if it were income-based, or if the government had a program that could help. Just like where my mom is now, where they have a government program in place that offsets the cost of what room she's in. What I liked most was that it was a clean and beautiful facility, and the people were caring individuals. What I like least is the cost. The staff members I met were very friendly. They had transportation available and events scheduled for the residents. They also had physical therapy and exercise available. It's independent living, but there was no stove, and there's just a microwave, so I'm not sure how they're supposed to cook. They had food, but I can't remember exactly what the schedule was on that. They were in the middle of a remodel, but at the same time, it wasn't completely destroyed in the process of the remodel, and I can see where they were going with it."

"Verena at Leander is exquisite. It's an independent living community, and it was beautiful. It had transportation, food, and everything was included. I think they also have an exercise room and a library. The person who gave the tour was very friendly and very informative. The residents seemed very active, too. It would definitely be beyond my mother's means, and I think she is also no longer at that stage of independent living. I think she kind of needs a place that's between independent living and a nursing home."

"The Oaks Gracious Retirement Living is very nice and well-maintained. The rooms are rather spacious compared to what I was expecting. They are very nice, too. They have indoor hallways which are great, making it easy for my mom to get around and not have to go outside. The staff members are very friendly and are always assisting. They have card games, board games, and movie nights. They have a day full of activities. The dining area is very good. We had one meal there and it was good, well balanced, and tasty. My mom eats there three times a day, which is something we couldn't get her to do at home. So obviously the food is very good. She is eating more frequently now that she is there. They change the menu every day. The facility is well-maintained, beautiful, and very accommodating."

"I moved to The Oscar at Georgetown. My apartment is very nice and very comfortable. The food is good. They've got a variety of food to eat. The facility is very clean. The staff is friendly and nice."

"I toured The Village at The Triangle. I liked the food. It was made-to-order food, and it was nice. They were saying that for dinner, they are more crowded, but the day I went, even for lunch, it was a little crowded. I believe that's very unusual, but it was good. The service was excellent. The apartment was very nice, and that's exactly what I want. It's very clean. The person who gave the tour was good."

"I moved into Sunday Village. The renovations that have been done in the last five years are very well-constructed. The apartments are very clean. They've done major upgrades on the structure, grounds, pest control procedures, and amenities. There has always been someone in the office when I have been there, even outside of the advertised hours. So, I've had great contact whenever I need it with staff, and very good explanations on the services and amenities that the common areas offer. There is a food bank in the common area, though, a food pantry, which is useful."
