Independent Living Communities in Springfield, OH

"I'm going to be a resident of StoryPoint West Milton. It's the biggest place for the money. It's the nicest, and it is relatively new, but it's gonna be expanding. This is a nice two-bedroom, two-bath cottage. They don't provide meals, but they have a meal plan, which will work out great. I like the people I've met so far. I have to have a garage because I still have a wood workshop, and they have a really nice, beautiful two-car garage. It's just great. They're all expensive, and this is not the most expensive one I looked at. It's still, no matter what, going to be hard to afford, but I think I can do it. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful. They get together once a month for movie night or barbecues, they have a rec center, and they have entertainment. It's kind of in their country, which is what I prefer. I don't like living in the city. I'm going to talk to them about possibly letting me have a small garden, and I can share my vegetables with the kitchen. The cottages are separate. They were built kind of like a star. There are four cottages that connect with the garages, and we're set off by ourselves. We have our own little patio and everything. The main building is about four blocks away. They have an exercise room, an activity center, and activities. They're more geared to the people living in that particular building, but we can attend them if we wish. I met five of the staff. They were friendly and answered the questions I had. They were concerned about my concerns. They were great. They will not provide meals, but I can buy a meal ticket, which is quite reasonable. You buy a package. It's 10 meals for $90, and if you buy the package, they give you five more meals. So for $90, it'd be 14 meals. I don't have to eat there every day. I can eat only at breakfast, at lunch, or at dinner, or all three meals. I can use them as I want, and the food smelled great."

"My mother-in-law will be moving into The Wellington at Dayton. First of all, she lives in an apartment complex that is right next door to this facility, she is familiar with the area, so we know that it will be an easier transition for her to go there. We went in and the facility is very nice, and very clean. The people were extremely friendly. We went around dinnertime, and all the residents had gone into the dining room. They seemed very happy, were carrying on conversations, and walking out together. They have a lot of services for her like crafts and different things that she can do. They have transportation to get her to and from her doctors' appointments. They have a hair salon right there on premises that is very affordable that she'll be able to use. The apartment is the same size as where she is living in right now, so all her furniture will fit there. The smallest apartment fits her price point, and they also have an assisted living right next door if she progresses and needs to be moved at some point. We saw their menu, and we saw the food basically being served to the residents there. The dining area is beautiful, and the kitchen is very nice. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. The one who assisted us was very knowledgeable, very friendly, and she interacted with the residents. They all seem to know her, and were glad to see her when we walked through the halls. She showed us two different apartments, she took extra time with us, and we appreciated that. One apartment that we saw, which would be the size that she would want, was being refurbished at that point. Someone had just moved out, so it hadn't been painted yet, so it wasn't perfect, but it had new carpet down."

"I toured Heritage Senior Living of Marysville. That place was very interesting. It's in very good condition, and it compares favorably with some of the others that I'd seen. The cost seemed very reasonable. The rooms were small but nice. They showed the pub, theater, cafeteria, and physical therapy area, and there was an outdoor area that was nice."

"The staff is very caring and compassionate, and the facility is very clean. They are even providing farm to table food. I am so blessed that my parents are living here."

"We're living in Wooded Glen. We have only been here for a little bit, but we enjoy it. It's a great place. It is brand new, so they're still in the process of getting more and more amenities. It just opened in February. One of their perks is that they have access to free golf at an adjoining golf course. They also have courtyards. We are happy with the service too. They have topnotch cooks and administrator."

"I think Springfield Masonic Community's rehab personnel were good with my father. They seemed caring, as well as most of their nurses. I know everybody is understaffed, but he seemed to get really good care when he was there. I'm sure some things could be better, but for the most part, I think they did a good job with what time they had."

"Forest Glen Health Campus in Springfield, Ohio receives my utmost gratitude. My aunt had been in many nursing homes with in the last 2 years of her life and by far, Forest Glen blew away my expectations. All the staff was courteous and friendly, they were always well kept and always cared about how the family was doing. Some of my aunt's family had come from another city and the nursing home offered them spare rooms and if ever they were thirsty or hungry, the nursing home staff always accommodated their needs. When my aunt did pass, the staff was there to assist us with all the arrangements and allowed the family to finish saying their goodbyes in their own way. It was definitely an experience I won't soon forget and I must say thank you. "

"I'm moving to Lakeview Senior Apartments. I have already put a deposit down and everything. They have things that I need. They have a walk-in shower there, and they have a washer and dryer in the apartment. It is much better. They have handicapped accessible doors. It's very nice. The staff are very nice people. The staff member told me they have a couple of activities. She said every Friday or Saturday night they get together, a small group of them for a meal in the evening. It has a lot of things. It has walk-in showers, it has grab bars, and it has all that stuff. They don't provide food; I have to buy my own food. That's one thing it doesn't include, but it includes everything else. It's very nice there."

"We visited the assisted living facility of The Ashford of Beavercreek a year and a half ago. It was actually my favorite, but my parents don't want to live out in Beavercreek. I love the layout of the apartments. It was very nice. Of course, it was brand new then, so they didn't even have a full staff when we went and were still working on a lot of things. The woman who took us around was very informative, very nice, and friendly. The facility is beautiful. I would live there myself."

"I moved into Homestead Village Beavercreek. It was a very clean facility. They are still on construction, and they haven't completed the whole village yet. They have a place where they're hiring for a hairstylist, so they can have somebody come in. They offer a craft center where you can go and work on crafts. They have a chapel where right now, they're looking to have some Bible studies to be held there. They have a post office center where your mailboxes are. They have an information center with computers where you can log on to pay your rent and or any type of business with the Homestead Village. They have free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. They have a TV room. They have bingo once a week. They have a banquet hall where you can hold any type of banquet. It's a secured building, so at five o'clock, it's locked up for not allowing public access. Each apartment has a little kitchenette. It comes at a total amount of your rent for your utilities, gas, electric, internet, and cable TV. The staff was very friendly."

"Trinity Community at Fairwood (Formerly Fairwood Village Senior Apartment Complex) is excellent. The staff is super nice. My sister does her own cooking. It's very nice and very clean. It's a good place and it's in a very good location. They have an exercise room, a big living area where they have card games and tournaments, they do potluck, they celebrate everyone's birthday, and they have a nurse that comes in and does blood pressure and checks things once or twice a week."

"I thought the staff and amenities offered great service to my grandfather. I was not impressed with some of the staff, they appeared grumpy and irritable which did not help my grandfathers spirits. They neglected him every so often and he complained openly about it. As he came away from the facility however he was becoming more mobile and he attributed that to the staff. This was confusing at first because he had always complained about them quite a bit. It was great though how he was able to live on his own after being in the assisted living for about two years. He often tells me how much he appreciated my visits to him there and how if he ever falls into that type of living situation again that he wants to go back to Legacy. I was thankful for their care for my grandfather and even though they sometimes had staff that weren't the kindest I know he was taken care of better than most assisted living homes would have. I will definitely recommend Legacy assisted living to many more people in the future. Many thanks to their staff and even owners who operate their establishment. I do have one parting statement and that is that over the next few years Legacy should look to hire more happy people. It sounds simple but happiness makes a big difference especially in the lives of those being cared for. "

"We went to see Otterbein SeniorLife Tipp City. We looked at a duplex home where you live fairly independently, though you can get some help. You have to be assessed, and then they talk to you, and you can let them know how much help you need and what is available. I liked it. They also had long-term care, but what we looked at was the housing, the two-bedroom duplex. I was very impressed with everything I saw and the people I talked to. I think it's very good. We also have a history with them, with a family member who spent six years with them many years ago. Not this particular one, but in another city. That was nothing but really good care, so that was one of the reasons we went to see this place. The staff members who gave the tour were both very knowledgeable, very comfortable, and very warm, and perfect for their job."
