"Heartland of Springfield was a very nice place, but they did not have a memory care unit. Mom was only there for two weeks and the therapy wing was very well kept, very clean, and orderly. The staff was just super. They were kind and patient and understanding of her needs. We had a really good experience there."

"Good Shepherd Village is very clean and nice. The smell is just like a home and it’s a wonderful setup. The staff is very considerate, kind, totally awesome, and takes care of people with love and care. They're not just patients. The dining area is very nicely set up and you can see out into the garden. The food is really good and my dad seems to enjoy it. They provide a lot of activities, but my father is at a stage where he sleeps a lot so he doesn’t participate. They do go to his room and talk to him and spend time with him. They have bingo, a coffee club in the morning, and different pastors come in to do Sunday services. They work hard on making sure their residents have things to do, that they do the normal things they used to do at home, and I think that's pretty cool. I'm very pleased with this facility."

"I toured the Springfield Masonic Community, and what jumped out immediately was the living space itself. It was nice. It had higher ceilings and more light. It's more like an apartment. The cost factor is surprisingly lower than any of the other places. Beyond that, the location is about 8 to 10 miles closer for us. The space itself didn't seem institutional. The person who took me around, I describe him as a low-impact salesman. He was believable. It was a no-frills tour, which I appreciated. He wasn't brusque at all. It was a well-spent 25 minutes, and I got everything I needed to know. Unfortunately, there was a room across the hall from the room I toured. It was clear that somebody had been bumping into it with a wheelchair. So, it needed some touch-up painting that they couldn't get to. It's a facility that dates back to the 30s but is very well-kept."

"Southbrook Healthcare Center is great. They have some little beds for some cats outside that are always by the windows for the residents to see. They are very friendly from the time you walk in the door. The care they provide is very personable. They treat you like family and they're very knowledgeable in what they do. I had requested to get some lidocaine patches for my uncle and they got that done right away. I see him doing a lot of stuff also, like singing and playing games. They have a big day room where there are puzzles and all kinds of stuff."

"It seemed nice enough. It seemed like it would work well for my father. It seemed like it would be a good facility for him. It's close by, so we would be able to check on him frequently without any problems. He knows the area because he's from New Carlisle originally. We were fairly impressed. It was clean and the facility seemed like it offered everything that you would need. The people there were friendly and helpful, which is important. The residents seemed happy. What we didn't like was the temperature was very, very chilly and he's elderly, so cold is a big issue. We weren't comfortable with that because the temperature was something he would not be able to tolerate. The staff said that it was colder than it usually was normally, and she said it's typically not that bad. Other than that, everybody seemed to be caring. The dining room was large and nice. It is a combination of assisted living and long-term care. I didn't look at the long-term care side of it, but they offer that and also rehabilitation. The staff during the tour was very helpful and answered all our questions succinctly. They're renovating, so they're adding to it."

"I feel that most of the items in this particular facility are outdated. There is such a 70's feel to the place that you almost feel you have stepped back in time. The staff seems like they are spread too thin, and they are far too young. I often worry if residents are treated with the respect their age has earned them. The cleaning staff seems much friendlier and interactive than the nursing staff. "

"We're going to apply for Logan Acres. We did an in-person tour in the assisted Living, and it's excellent. It was up to date, it was clean, the staff was very pleasant, and I think it had all the services that we need. There's congregate dining, there's a spa room, there's physical therapy available, there's all kinds of community activities like playing cards, watching movies, there's a nice park area outside. The layout was nice, I liked how they had it shaped; one concern I have is how far some of the rooms are from the dining room."

"My father was in Memorial Gables Nursing Home & Rehabilitation, and he's home now. He was there for two months. They are amazing. The staff was friendly, they kept me updated on everything. I had no issues whatsoever. It was a private room and right beside a window he could look out, get window visits and things like that. It was very, very well kept. There are flowers planted outside and places for them to go."
