"I've been to The Gables for a month. I was recuperating from broken ankle and had a hip replacement. I was required to be placed in this nursing home and it's not quite healed yet, I still have to be careful. I didn't realize that it was a long recuperation. That was in 2007. The people in the physical therapy unit are really good. I could recommend this to anybody. But being there is a patient. The nurses weren't really nice at all. They didn't care for their patient like they should have. If I would be in a nursing home I want people to be pleasant. I talked to one of the nurses and I told them that if your people can't be good to people then why are they here? They have to be skilled. I'm the kind of person that if a nurse come in the room we would have some talk and chat but they don't want to do that. I just need more of a companion. They don't have time. But you can still talk while you're working around you can still have a good time and make friends. With regards to the food they will fix you what you want. There's always an option. That's what good about The Gables. "

"My mother in law came here for 2-4 weeks of rehab following surgery for a broken hip. When she was released from the hospital she had been up out of bed doing physical therapy. Doing great! When she was transferred to Kenton Nursing and Rehab the surgeon's orders were to wear compression stockings for 2 weeks, physical therapy 5-7 days a week. She was to use her incentive spirometer every hour. So it begins...she was left in bed, FLAT ON HER BACK for 2 weeks with no compression stockings, no spirometer and no therapy. When family questioned this they were told that she just had hip surgery and she now can't bear weight on that leg, they would get her a spirometer because the one she came in with was nowhere to be found, and that therapy would be in to do arm exercises (hip surgery, remember). After another 2 weeks passed she got her spirometer. Never did see compression socks. She began having shortness of breath, lung function deteriorating according to chest xray requested by family. Now therapy begins. Patient is now complaining of knee pain. After another 10 days or so an ultrasound was done showing a blood clot in her surgical leg. I guess the compression socks might have been a good idea from the get go. Now she is made to be back in bed flat on her back again for 2 more weeks. Still complaining about knee pain. X-ray showed arthritis. Now therapy is done in bed, when she had any therapy. Still complaining about knee pain. At one point she screamed in pain when her leg was twisted when moving her. After a week or so an MRI was finally ordered due to her family's insistence. Complete tear of her ACL, torn meniscus (and arthritis). Still flat on her back, short of breath, therapy on her arms. At the FIRST care conference (at the 100 day mark) the family was told that she had lost 38 lbs since she arrived. One third of her body weight! A couple of weeks later the family asked for a chest xray. Now she has pneumonia and UTI. Back in the hospital. Thank God. This nursing home and rehab center is a FILTHY, run down mess. Patient only saw a nurse if they were passing meds. Other staff came in only to bring COLD, questionable food, and fill her water cup. If someone you love ends up in this place take any steps necessary to get them transferred out. Did I mention filthy, stinking, run down, and old outdated bathrooms, beds, call lights. Holes in the walls, in need of MUCH repair."

"I toured Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehab. It seemed like a very nice facility. The only questions we had for them was the bed that they had in there, and they said that could be taken care of. So, they were very obliging. The facility seemed to be very clean. The room seemed a little bit small, but I think it would have been able to accommodate our needs."

"I'm pleased with Heartland of Marysville. My mom is currently residing there, and I'm really happy with the care that she’s receiving. They go above and beyond. They have a salon, activity center, and books. The rooms are very clean, double occupancy, and small. "

"The staff in Dorothy Love Retirement Community is fabulous. The whole place is fabulous. I was impressed with the facility itself, how everything is new and up-to-date. The area that my mother-in-law is in is kept off from every place else. She's with about 16 other residents and they're able to come and go in that one small area as much as they want. She actually loves it there. "

"Very caring and attentive staff. I couldn't have asked for better nurses and aides to care for my grandmother. Nurses always answered my questions. They genuinely cared for my grandmother as if she were their own family. Well done. "

"My Dad is at Forest Glen, and it's been very good right now. It's just a distance from me, so I visit him every two days through the window. He's been there since early December. Obviously, I don't get to interact with the staff very much. I either talk to them over the phone or see them through the window, but I'm happy with their care. Right now, he's in a private room because he's receiving skilled care, but that's about to come to an end under his insurance. He may even have to go to a semi-private room. It's been pretty good, and I'm happy with them. It's a beautiful campus in North Springfield on a huge amount of land. It's very spacious, clean and modern-looking on the outside. It has a sister facility just up the road, and my father was there after he came out of the hospital. We had a really nice experience there, too, so they're both really good places. From what I can see with the room, it's a little basic, but it's fine. I've seen just the foyer entrance. I could not go any farther than that, but from what I can see down the halls and into the dining room, things looked very clean, spacious, and nice. My dad has talked to me about the food, and that's important to him. For the most part, like yesterday, he was really happy with both his lunch and dinner. Once in a while, there's something that he doesn't care for, but for the most part he thinks it's pretty good. They can't have any activities right now."

"It was very good. I enjoyed the place. They're very friendly and very clean. It was someplace I would like for my parents to be when it comes. The staff was very informational, very polite, and any questions I had, they answered. The rooms looked like an apartment. It's almost like a hotel-type thing. They were gonna do a birthday party when I was there. The dining area was clean and pleasant, and the tables weren't too crowded."

"We was told that people could spend the night but didn't provide a bed. The director came into my wife room and told her that had to stop and he was very rude and forceful. That was the main thing that we didn't like. This was on the rehab side. The aids and nurses were great."

"My sister moved into Northwood Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. It seems a lot nicer. The nurses are nicer. She is already up on the parallel bars, so we have seen improvement. Her leg is getting movement back in it. I say the arm is always the last to come back, and so it is still iffy. It seems really nice. It's the first part of a little housing community. There are grocery stores and stuff beyond it, but the atmosphere there is quiet, calm, and inviting. Even people in wheelchairs sitting out in the halls say hi to you. They talk to you and everything. It seems really nice and clean. They have a separate dining room. They take her to rehab, and she was thrilled because she finally got a bath or shower. All these places she has been at, they never, ever gave her a bath or shower. Of course they sponge bath, but that was it. But she said it really felt good to be able to get a bath. Everyone I talked with seemed really nice. And if she needed anything, when a nurse and stuff came in, we mentioned it to them and they'd make sure she got it. It seems really good so far. The week before when I was there, they came in and cleaned the room while we were there. So it seems really clean compared to other places she's been."

"RUN AND DONT STOP..... worst place on earth..... unsanitary on all levels haven't cleaned his bathroom at all in over 2weeks. Sharps container has been full the whole time he has been there. So they throw in the trash and he has mrsa in his blood. No one ever puts on the paper gowns and never wash there hands ever and go from his room to other patient rooms and never wash there hands ever. So when they have amajor breakout of mrsa just remember I warned you. "
