Really not a good place

My parent hates it here. Never taken care of in a timely manner. Left to sit in his own waste because the aids just dont have time to get him to the bathroom on time and then they are upset when he goes in his pants. I even had a nurse tell me that the aids are rude, but then so are most of the nurses. Showers are always cold. I was told that is normal. Seriously! Nobody ever seems to have an answer about medical issues or otherwise. Biggest mistake we ever made, taking him to this nursing home.

My mother has passed away, but she was in Dorothy Love for couple of years. Everything was grand about this place, including all the people, the friendliness, and the ease of going in, and if you wanted to have your family coming in, there were rooms where you can have a little party if you wanted to. The apartment had a kitchen and its own living room, and you can come and go if you please. My mother went down for meals, but if you did not want to eat down there, they bring it to your room. They provide a lot of snacks even at night too. You can walk down and get yourself an ice-cream bar; they had everything and anything. She did have a refrigerator in her room, but she never had any complaints about the food. They had a church in there, a little gift store, and a little post office all within the place. You do not have to walk to another building; it was all connected. They had extra wide doorways, and the halls were extra wide, and so it was so easy to move around.

The staff in Dorothy Love Retirement Community is fabulous. The whole place is fabulous. I was impressed with the facility itself, how everything is new and up-to-date. The area that my mother-in-law is in is kept off from every place else. She's with about 16 other residents and they're able to come and go in that one small area as much as they want. She actually loves it there.
