"My mother in law received excellent care when she was at Carriage Court of Hilliard several years ago. She enjoyed participating in the activities. All of the employees were very pleasant and outgoing and really encouraged the residents to participate. They also do a lot in the social hall area for the residents to participate in. They even offered little trips during the day to get them out just to see the changing leaves and things like that. It is very well run, very clean, excellent facility. "

"My father is at The Ashford at Sturbridge assisted living. He just wasn't happy with the food, but their chef is working to make that better. I've been talking with the director and such. The physical appearance is excellent. They've only been open a couple of years. I think it'll be three years this coming January. Their services are very good for both the aides and the nurses. They're very attentive. When I talk with them and ask if they could take care of something for my dad, they're always very willing to do that. I haven't eaten there since January of 2019 when they first moved in. The menu is varied, and I think some of my dad's problem is that he's 88 and your taste buds start to go when you get older. Things just don't taste as you remember them. They take them out to restaurants once in a while and out to shopping. They also have a little car show in their parking lot, and they've had the OSU alumni band come there and play. They have a lot of good activities. They have an onsite beautician and a library. My dad said the food has been very good the last two weeks and it's been three weeks ago since I talked with management about it. I know he's paying less than he would at some other places. They're very responsive. They've closed their facility due to Covid before the governor closed the State of Ohio. I feel that they're very concerned about the welfare of their residents. That's their number one priority and I'm thankful for that."

"Brookdale Buck Creek is a fairly new and smaller community, but it's very nice and clean. The rooms were also smaller than her current room. We saw that they had a TV area for the seniors, but there wasn't a whole lot going on then. The dining area was clean, but it's not as big as the dining area in the other community. I met a few people there and the staff members were really nice."

"My mom is now at Grove City Senior Living by Traditions. The one thing that I liked about it was that the pricing was all-inclusive. So whether my mom's care needed to change or whether the type of assistance that she needed altered, we knew that we were not going to have to come up with another thousand dollars a month on any given month. It was a set amount to be able to at least get started and understand what's needed. I also really enjoyed the facility itself. It was very, very clean and well laid out. I like the various sitting areas that they had around the facility. So when people come to visit, they want to take them out of their room, and it's not always right there in the memory care area. There are areas upstairs we can take and have a private visit. There are probably four or five different areas where we can take my mom to have a private visit with family and whatnot. And I really, really like that option. All the people that we have been dealing with, and all the administration and everything, are wonderful. However, when we went into memory care, we knew that there were issues, but we didn't realize that they were going to ask us to pay independently for some extra days of care for my mom. So that was the only disappointing part, but the people we worked with even in that regard were great. They have different types of exercise programs, arts and crafts, and occupational-type stuff, and I like that. They have activities for them to do on their own. There are all kinds of different stuff for them to redirect them and give them something to do with their busy time when their brains aren't working right. With all the care that they're giving, the structure, and all the things that are there, and knowing the comparison of some of the other facilities that we visited that aren't as nice, I would have to say Grove City Senior Living by Traditions' pricing is very good."

"My friend is at Springfield Assisted Living. I like the community. Everybody seems good and friendly. The aides are nice, friendly, and helpful. Most of them are willing to help their clients. They seem to work well with my friend. The food is okay. The maintenance is good. The facility seems nice and kept clean. Even though my friend doesn't participate, they do offer a lot of activities. They do bowling, softball, card games, bingo, and craft. They have movie nights. I expect a lot for its price, and I would say it's not well worth it at all."

"The tour we had of The Ashford of Grove City was very good. It's a very aesthetically pleasing place. They have a very good coordination team for activities for memory care patients who need that next level of engagement. The staff member who gave the tour was amazing. She went over everything and answered all my questions. The rooms were good. They're big enough. They each have their own bathroom and private areas, so that was nice. The dining areas were huge and very open. They have plenty of room for a lot of people. It's a very well put-together place. They're very well-spoken on the issue, too. They know what they're talking about, and they know the answers to all the questions and that kind of stuff."

"The Carriage Court of Grove City looked nice. They had recently painted the entire interior and were replacing all the carpet, so it was looking nice. I toured a couple of the rooms where people were living and how they had them decorated, and they looked nice and they looked spacious. The person who accommodated me during the tour was very nice, I liked her a lot. She was very, very helpful, she kept in touch with us, and gave us all the information we needed. I saw their dining area, it looks nice and clean and it was big, but I did not try the food. I saw a bunch of the residents getting on the shuttle bus and heading out for lunch. So they're excited about that, that was fun. They've got a lot of activities scheduled there. I met a bunch of the people that worked there and everybody was friendly. The facilities looked very clean. However, it was a little cluttered because they were still replacing the carpet but the section they have done looks nice."

"My mom moved into the memory care area at Dublin Retirement Village in March, right before the facility had to restrict visitation due to the virus. Despite the shutdown, the staff and caregivers made every effort to keep residents happy and families connected. They went above and beyond to help my mom adjust to her new surroundings and the virus restrictions. They have done a good job keeping all residents safe during this pandemic. Now that we can visit outside, they have set up numerous stations for safe visitation with family members, which has been wonderful. I would definitely recommend this memory care facility."

"We toured Trustwell Living at Urbana Place. The ladies were very nice. They absolutely made my father feel more comfortable because he was not feeling comfortable. He will move there for respite. The lady who is in charge was extremely helpful. It is more of a home atmosphere with apartments. So, you have your privacy having an apartment instead of just having a room where somebody can walk in at any time. If my father leaves and feels uncomfortable about leaving his door unlocked, he can lock it. I was also amazed at how big the closets were, and the bathrooms were really, really large, too. It has a chair lift, which he uses to sleep, and so that will be just like home. He was very tickled to know that there's a microwave and a little refrigerator, and he can have his snacks and things there like he does at home. They told him to bring whatever he wanted that would make him feel more comfortable and make it more like home. They were just wonderful. Right now, they don't have a normal cook, so the staff is cooking. They're really putting forth a lot of effort into serving good meals that have flavor, and they said their residents are very happy with that. I was impressed with the people, probably more so than the facility. I think that the people make the facility a comfortable and happy place to live. They're very helpful, caring, and friendly. I thought the facility looked clean, but a little worn. The lounge was very inviting with the fireplace. They have a nice little summer room in the back where you could go. The lady had brought her own plates from home that had birds on them, and somebody else who lives in the community brought a clock that chirps, and I thought that was really cool."

"I toured Brookdale Pinnacle. It was a wonderful tour. I was able to speak with some residents that were there, and it reminded me of a hotel. It had very high-end furnishings and felt very homey. I like the apartments. They looked like an apartment versus just a room. They have lots of amenities. They have courtyards, a sitting area that has a piano, an exercise area, and a private dining room that you could reserve if the family wanted to get together. The dining room is menu-driven. So, it reminded you of a restaurant. The staff answered all my questions. They were very caring. They brought up and asked questions that my sister and I didn't consider, and so it allowed us to have the opportunity to get a better idea of what my mom needed, as well as what they could offer."

"The Coventry Senior Living was very pretty. It's only been there for 14 months so it was the newest with the biggest rooms and the most activities. I met the woman who gave me a tour, I met two nurses, the chef, the dining room supervisor, and the receptionist. All of them are very friendly. They stopped at the table where we were talking and chatted for a few minutes. All of them stopped, except the receptionist, because she had to stay in the lobby. I did not eat there but I talked to the chef. He said that they don't open cans and they don't freeze their vegetables. All of their vegetables are fresh. That's the only place where I got any information about food. I just don't know what it would cost for my cousin to go there, and that was the drawback. They were a little vague. They said they're willing to do an assessment, even if we haven't decided she's coming, like on FaceTime or something, because my cousin is not local. So, they said they could do a long-distance assessment, then they could tell us which level of care she would be in. If I were younger and had unlimited time, I could do all these assessments and find out exactly what it would cost everywhere, but I'm not younger. They've got a beautiful library and three dining rooms connected to each other. It's beautifully laid out. It's in a busy neighborhood, a construction zone, so I wouldn't give the neighborhood a high mark, but the facility is beautiful. There's a parking garage."

"I looked at the Sunrise of Dublin. I liked the people that we spoke with and the tour. It was a new and lovely facility. They allowed pets, which was a big pro. It was a beautiful facility. Everything in there was very nice and lovely. Mom doesn't like to have to look out at a parking lot, and she would have had to look at a parking lot from her windows there. The staff members were wonderful. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable. They took a lot of time with us."

"I went to Walnut Crossing. I think it's absolutely wonderful. The residents were very, very open, and walking around and talking, and they just seemed so happy. The place was very neat and clean. I didn't get any food, and I had to ask for something to drink again like in the other places. I went into the office with two people and I said, "Could I have something to drink?" And they had a refrigerator right there and they pulled out a bottle of water, which I thought was very good. Both of the ladies that talked to me were absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed them. When I left, the residents were playing bingo, and when I was given a tour there was a huge calendar on the wall, and from the time you got up to the time you wanted to go to bed, there was something for you to do. They had a nice library. They had a nice room to workout/exercise. They had a person who was in charge of all the activities. They had a quilt group for those that liked to do quilting. I absolutely love that place. If I could move in there today, I would do it, but it costs $3,600 a month. Once a month they have a happy hour, where residents can get a beer, or a mixed drink. They had popcorn on movie nights. They just have something all the time."

"Harrison on 5th/Senior Star is a stylish building in a terrific location. The staff is amazing and always happy to help. They have many activities to choose from such as dinners out, arts and craft, movie nights, ect…. They also celebrate a different country every month and offer a fun event on Fridays to highlight the food and culture of that country. My brother lived in independent care and made many friends and was instantly part of a community. They also offer assisted living and memory care."
