"My mom moved into the memory care area at Dublin Retirement Village in March, right before the facility had to restrict visitation due to the virus. Despite the shutdown, the staff and caregivers made every effort to keep residents happy and families connected. They went above and beyond to help my mom adjust to her new surroundings and the virus restrictions. They have done a good job keeping all residents safe during this pandemic. Now that we can visit outside, they have set up numerous stations for safe visitation with family members, which has been wonderful. I would definitely recommend this memory care facility."

"Brookdale Muirfield is small enough to feel personal. In fact, the staff has been dedicated to my mother-in-law's needs. We have been able to get a new primary care program, which is something she needed. The therapy team has been very helpful in keeping her independence. My mother-in-law is on the first floor in a studio apartment with everything she needs. The bathroom is just big enough. The apartment has a spacious closet, and she has been able to bring all of her personal items there. The window has a tree right outside. The dining area has tables that I believe sit four to six people. The place has a community feel. They also have a private room if you want to have a private party with family and friends, right off the dining room. They go out on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus there are a lot of things going on at center. They just had some music last week and a full calendar of events. My mother-in-law has really enjoyed the outings and the social time that it provides. "

"I looked at the Sunrise of Dublin. I liked the people that we spoke with and the tour. It was a new and lovely facility. They allowed pets, which was a big pro. It was a beautiful facility. Everything in there was very nice and lovely. Mom doesn't like to have to look out at a parking lot, and she would have had to look at a parking lot from her windows there. The staff members were wonderful. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable. They took a lot of time with us."

"My father is at The Ashford at Sturbridge assisted living. He just wasn't happy with the food, but their chef is working to make that better. I've been talking with the director and such. The physical appearance is excellent. They've only been open a couple of years. I think it'll be three years this coming January. Their services are very good for both the aides and the nurses. They're very attentive. When I talk with them and ask if they could take care of something for my dad, they're always very willing to do that. I haven't eaten there since January of 2019 when they first moved in. The menu is varied, and I think some of my dad's problem is that he's 88 and your taste buds start to go when you get older. Things just don't taste as you remember them. They take them out to restaurants once in a while and out to shopping. They also have a little car show in their parking lot, and they've had the OSU alumni band come there and play. They have a lot of good activities. They have an onsite beautician and a library. My dad said the food has been very good the last two weeks and it's been three weeks ago since I talked with management about it. I know he's paying less than he would at some other places. They're very responsive. They've closed their facility due to Covid before the governor closed the State of Ohio. I feel that they're very concerned about the welfare of their residents. That's their number one priority and I'm thankful for that."

"I toured Carriage Court of Hilliard. I think the best thing about it was their facility. It was large. It had great amenities like snack stations and things like that. The place is easy to access. They serve snacks like apples and oranges and you can get a drink. They also have a happy hour on Fridays. It was pretty much conducive to real life. Everyone was nice. The staff was very professional. The rooms were pretty nice. They had two sizes and both seemed somebody could live in. They were very well decorated and very well maintained. It looked almost new. The atmosphere was great. The people were friendly. It was in a very populated area. I had lunch there and the food was very fresh. You can tell they took time and they cared about what they were serving. They had fresh fruit. The tuna salad was made very well. The dining area looked nice. It was in the front of the building and they had menus on the tables. They have an activity room. When I went there, they were playing bingo. I don't know much about the activities other than what I read in the brochure. They had a party area. The facility looked very nice. It was beautiful."

"Brookdale Trillium Crossing was just too big for my father. He needed something smaller, but it was a lovely community. The staff was very helpful, very pleasant, friendly, and very gracious. They provided a lot of good information. The only concern was simply that it was just too big a facility. My father's visually impaired, so it is very difficult for him to learn a new facility that is large. Their menu was phenomenal. It was filet mignon every day, if you wanted. My father is more of a plain food person, liked mashed potatoes and gravy. He likes simpler meals, and it was just a little over-the-top for him. The other issue was that he couldn't cut the food. They had very good food, but the problem was it was too complicated for him. They had singalongs and different levels of activities that people could participate in, depending on their level of interest. With my father, his visual limitations prevented him from participating in some of the activities. It was just a little bit pricy and a little fancy for my dad."

"They were very welcoming at Brookdale Marysville. It's big, and when you walk in, you see the dining area and the entertainment area. The staff was very friendly. The food was good and the dining area looked like a large entertainment area. There was a piano in there. They have activities like Bingo, outings to different places to eat and shop, exercises classes, and church services. It's an older facility."

"Bickford of Upper Arlington seemed very comfortable and very open. Because of the nature of the facility, I think it was good that they had locked doors to make sure that the elderly folks who like to wander won't just wander out into the street or into the river across the street. I really appreciated that. The rooms seemed to be well kept, nice, and clean, and they were centrally located so that it was easy for the residents to be able to get back and forth. They had some elevators, so if they lived on other floors then they could get up and down pretty easily. It's very clean. I went past their dining area, and the food smelled wonderful. It also looked very cozy."

"Overall, The Bristol was a very nice place. It's very new, so everything's sparkling clean. The staff was very, very pleasurable to talk to. In fact, I knew a couple of people who moved in there and they liked it very much. The rooms and the closet areas were a little smaller than we liked, but other than that, we liked everything about it."

"The Forum at Knightsbridge seems friendly. It seems to have the services I'm looking for. The rooms were nice. Some of them, I think, even have balconies. I would give it a 5 rating just because of the nice attitude that I got when I was there. They were friendly. I like the staff there. The rooms are pretty much the same as everybody else's. I'm looking for a one-bedroom. One is 624 square feet, and the other is 585 square feet. I love my condo, and I don't want to leave, but my family thinks otherwise. I guess the rooms at The Forum is going to be spacious. It's going to be a transition, of course, but I guess I'm ready for it."

"The Coventry Senior Living was very pretty. It's only been there for 14 months so it was the newest with the biggest rooms and the most activities. I met the woman who gave me a tour, I met two nurses, the chef, the dining room supervisor, and the receptionist. All of them are very friendly. They stopped at the table where we were talking and chatted for a few minutes. All of them stopped, except the receptionist, because she had to stay in the lobby. I did not eat there but I talked to the chef. He said that they don't open cans and they don't freeze their vegetables. All of their vegetables are fresh. That's the only place where I got any information about food. I just don't know what it would cost for my cousin to go there, and that was the drawback. They were a little vague. They said they're willing to do an assessment, even if we haven't decided she's coming, like on FaceTime or something, because my cousin is not local. So, they said they could do a long-distance assessment, then they could tell us which level of care she would be in. If I were younger and had unlimited time, I could do all these assessments and find out exactly what it would cost everywhere, but I'm not younger. They've got a beautiful library and three dining rooms connected to each other. It's beautifully laid out. It's in a busy neighborhood, a construction zone, so I wouldn't give the neighborhood a high mark, but the facility is beautiful. There's a parking garage."

"My husband is at Bickford of Worthington. They said they could take care of him because his care was kind of extensive. A lot of the places I checked out would call back and say that with the care that he needed, they could not take him. I settled on Bickford for that reason. They assured me that they could take care of him and so they have. You cannot go inside of these places because of COVID, but I spoke with the manager and they seem to be taking care of him. My husband has turned around at least 50% since he's been there. When he went there, he couldn't talk other than a whisper. Now, I go see him and he can talk like he talked before, but his memory is not back and he still cannot walk. Bickford is doing what I would have expected a facility would do. I could only see the outside and the lobby. I can't tell you about the inside because with COVID, you cannot get in. The staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful, and my husband seems to like them all. They recognized that he needed to go to the hospital, so they sent him to the hospital. The staff is doing what I would expect the staff would do. When he got there, the speech therapist said that he had problems swallowing. They discovered that when he was at the hospital, so they put him on a puree diet and he does not like that. We haven't seen the regular food yet. Once his swallowing gets better, I think they're gonna put him on a regular diet. The outside is quite impressive. The day that I went to talk with the manager about it before, he took me around the back of the building and showed me the courtyard. I got to peek through a window, which is what they do now, and the part that I could see was nice. It was a nice big place and from the outside, it was not in tatters. It was well structured and when I looked through the window, I saw people milling about. The bedroom that he could show me through a window looked like an ordinary bedroom. It wasn't elaborate, but it was a nice room. He could only show me the one room from where I was. It didn't seem like anybody was living in it, otherwise, I don't think we'd peek through the window. I'm happy with the place, and they could take my husband. I know my husband is having speech therapy and physical therapy. I don't know about the activities, but I'm sure they have them. They said they have things for the other residents to do, but we didn't delve into that. My husband doesn't partake because he's not able to. We think we're paying too much, but I guess he needs the care."

"The lady who did the tour at The Avalon of Lewis Center was good to follow up later with me. She reached out to me several times and they even brought something by my door and left a little gift, a book, on how to pick communities, and things like that. She also followed up with me through email and phone calls multiple times. I thought the tour was great. I liked the facility. It was very clean. It smelled good and it was well-maintained.
