Assisted Living Communities in Upper Arlington, OH

"Brookdale Trillium Crossing was just too big for my father. He needed something smaller, but it was a lovely community. The staff was very helpful, very pleasant, friendly, and very gracious. They provided a lot of good information. The only concern was simply that it was just too big a facility. My father's visually impaired, so it is very difficult for him to learn a new facility that is large. Their menu was phenomenal. It was filet mignon every day, if you wanted. My father is more of a plain food person, liked mashed potatoes and gravy. He likes simpler meals, and it was just a little over-the-top for him. The other issue was that he couldn't cut the food. They had very good food, but the problem was it was too complicated for him. They had singalongs and different levels of activities that people could participate in, depending on their level of interest. With my father, his visual limitations prevented him from participating in some of the activities. It was just a little bit pricy and a little fancy for my dad."

"I looked at the Sunrise of Dublin. I liked the people that we spoke with and the tour. It was a new and lovely facility. They allowed pets, which was a big pro. It was a beautiful facility. Everything in there was very nice and lovely. Mom doesn't like to have to look out at a parking lot, and she would have had to look at a parking lot from her windows there. The staff members were wonderful. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable. They took a lot of time with us."

"If Danbury Columbus had a middle name, it would be “Caring”, as care is central to everything they do. The entire Danbury staff is genuinely invested in helping residents live their best lives, giving our family incredible peace of mind. This starts with the Executive Director, Cara, whose roll up your sleeve’s leadership inspires the whole team. Since our mom moved in five months ago, her happiness and engagement have soared. The transition was seamless, and she loves the vibrant environment—especially the chef-prepared meals and weekly Tai Chi, bingo, and offsite excursions. The facility is safe, fun, and exceptionally clean. It offers great on-site amenities like movement and function therapy, a beauty salon, and transport services. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming—not just for residents, but also for visiting family and friends. It truly feels like one big happy family. It has been a fabulous experience since day one, and we highly recommend Danbury Columbus to any family looking for a place where their loved one can flourish."

"My dad is at Bickford of Worthington, and he's doing fine. The staff has been terrific, very responsive, attentive, and proactive, and they communicate well. We can't go in there right now because of COVID, but he has plenty of room in his apartment, it's clean, and they have plenty of activities."

"The staff were very friendly, very clean. The apartments that I've seen were standard size. They have a one bedroom apartment. The place is located in an area of the city that is somewhat declining and it was too far away from my relatives. I think they had exercise, games, and movies. "

"I went to Alpine House of Columbus. It was a great experience. The staff was lovely. The place was lovely. I liked everything that I heard. It was a nice facility. I liked the stairway and they had an elevator, too, so that's a plus. They offer the laundry and help you with your medicine, and they do housecleaning. As far as I could see, everything was nice."

"We toured the assisted living section, and it was excellent. The community is very welcoming. The person who gave the tour was very thorough and very good at what she does. She gave a very warm feeling about the place. The room was very good, and the bathroom was very large. The activities were excellent. They have a wide variety, and they were very appealing."

"Brookdale Muirfield is a nice community, but it is assisted living and my mom wanted independent living. Nevertheless, it was a very nice and clean place. I liked the way that they had things set up. Everybody was very polite and nice. If my mom was going into an assisted living community, it definitely would be a place that I would be looking at."

"We were at Senior Star for two months in an apartment and very happy with it. The staff was very good, wonderful people. They provided cornmeal breakfast, and during the evening, we were pretty much on our own. The food was excellent. They had a gym and a lot of activities throughout the day, though we didn't utilize any of that. If people are looking for that kind of lifestyle, this place would be excellent. It was clean, and the people were very nice. "

"My mom moved into the memory care area at Dublin Retirement Village in March, right before the facility had to restrict visitation due to the virus. Despite the shutdown, the staff and caregivers made every effort to keep residents happy and families connected. They went above and beyond to help my mom adjust to her new surroundings and the virus restrictions. They have done a good job keeping all residents safe during this pandemic. Now that we can visit outside, they have set up numerous stations for safe visitation with family members, which has been wonderful. I would definitely recommend this memory care facility."

"I like Kensington Place. The people there were great. The location is good. The rooms that I saw were nice. I think that they would be so accommodating to people, even people that didn't need help and those that needed a little bit of help, they're there to help you also. They have a library, a TV room, a pool table room, and a game room where you can play games. You can go to church services of your choice. The food was wonderful. They have different things on the menu that you can choose from. The service was nice and helpful. I'm on oxygen, and I had to move my oxygen tank all around, so they were very accommodating. I asked them about helping with bath and all that kind of stuff, even though as independent, and they have people on staff that will help you with your bath. They can help you with your laundry if you need help. It's good to know that somebody is there to help you if you need help."

"I went to Westerwood. I think they did a really good job. They gave me a good tour. I went there and had lunch with them and talked with them. I had a lot of time to talk with them about stuff. Overall, I think it's a very good place. The thing I liked the least was the money, that it takes a lot of money to go there, and it's very difficult for me. I'm going to have to go to a really small apartment. As far as good things, it had very good things. I just was very pleased with what was there and the activities that they have for people. I thought it was very clean. The food was OK; it was good. The staff was wonderful, all of them. They have a lot of classes. They have an art room, which I'm really interested in."

"The moment you walk in the front door, the reception staff are there to greet you with a kind smile. The rooms and hallway are very clean and spacious enough. Housekeeping staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. It seems to me that the staff knows every resident and greets them with a smile. There are activities to suit every interest, if one does not exist, you can always start one. If you have a question, just ask. "

"I just recently had a tour of the Sterling House of Westerville in Columbus. They offer really great programs to their residents, including Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Sterling House of Westerville is beautifully built and deigned, I really liked the interior setup. It's cozy, comfortable, and neatly cleaned. During my tour, I had the opportunity to speak with some of the residents here. They all said that they enjoy every day at Sterling House of Westerville, and that they wouldn't want to live elsewhere. One resident mentioned the dining is similar to a dinner on a beautiful cruise. "
