"I feel she is safe. They are so patient with our loved ones. They get the residents involved. The staff calls residents by their names. They smile and say hello. It takes special people to work with memory care people. They are that special. I can sleep! "

"I toured The Avalon of New Albany. I liked everything about it. The people were great. They were very informative and very nice, and they walked me around everywhere. They told me all the things that I didn't know I needed to look for. The facility itself was beautiful. They had a special art room, a chapel, and a lounge area downstairs which looked like a very nice cafe place. Once a month, they have a podiatrist that comes to the facility. There was a courtyard and a screened-in patio. There was a beauty and barbershop. They had a restaurant-style dining area and a couple of different locations throughout the building that are larger lounge areas with little kitchens where you could have all your family come for big dinners. They had a popcorn machine, and they do happy hour once a week. They gave us muffins for snacks and it was very good. They had a lot of things written on a menu board that you could order. And if it wasn't on that day's menu, you could order something, particularly that you like. "

"The apartments are adequately sized for their intended purpose. The staff encourages the residents to socialize in the common areas with the other residents, so the apartment, at least in my mother's case, is basically to sleep and for bathing. The facilities are always clean and smell fresh. The staff is very caring and attentive. Activities are scheduled daily and they really strive to keep the residents active and participating in something. Optional outings are also scheduled so residents can enjoy an occasional lunch or other outing outside of the facility. My mother, who has been a resident for a little over three years, has participated in several bell and voice choirs around the holidays. She has always been musical and still enjoys it so much. There is a piano in the immediate area that she will also play on occasion. There is a beautiful courtyard and garden area that the residents can access and enjoy at their leisure. The courtyard also contains a putting green. As far as the care, my mother takes advantage of the opportunity to see the Nurse Practitioner that visits the facility on a weekly basis. This aids greatly in not having to take her outside of the facility for periodic doctor visits. We have also decided to use their pharmacy service to manage all of the various medications. On a related note, my father is in the facility as well, on the independent living side. He's been there for a little over a year. He wanted to be closer to mom and finds his apartment to be comfortable and well suited for his current needs. His apartment has a washer and dryer, bathroom, kitchenette, separate bedroom, living room, and a patio that overlooks a beautiful garden courtyard with a fountain. He gets three nice meals a day in the dining room(s), and enjoys interacting with the other residents during meals. That side of the facility has an on-site beautician/barber (that both mom and dad utilize), a theater, library, bistro with some snacks available, and numerous common areas where residents can gather and socialize. All in all we are very happy with the amenities and level of care and oversight they both receive at StoryPoint Gahanna ."

"Cherry Blossom Senior Living was great. It's a newer, high-end facility. The rooms were very nice. Everything there was very nice. The staff members that I encountered were very nice. It was a very good experience. But I don't think my sister-in-law's fit would be good there. It was lavish, and she just wanted somewhere like home. The dining area was beautiful. They had music playing. You can select your menu, and they will bring it to you. They have a beauty shop and an exercise area. They have games. They also have people come in and do physical therapy. They have recreation, arts, and crafts."

"I've posted on other sites, so this is the "shorter version"... Mom needed way more care than we were able to give, and we did NOT have pleasant experiences at a couple other facilities. But SP was terrific from day one. Clean and comfy rooms, tasty and varied meals, and a honestly caring staff from the director right down through the ranks, everybody there seemed to know and take personal interest in Mom. She could "get a bit testy" at times, but they calmly and tenderly showed her respect, and managed to cheer her up. In her final days, they cared for her with a tenderness that defies explanation. They were simply THERE for her every moment when we simply couldn't be. They provided activities, physical therapy, amazing medical care, and above all, they loved her as though she were part of THEIR families. I can't thank them enough for making the most difficult part of Mom's life as easy as it could possibly be. If you need to trust someone with YOUR loved one, this is the place to do it!"

"My mother-in-law has moved into The Ashford on Broad. We chose it because she was comfortable with that area and she wanted to be near where some of her friends could come and visit her and not have to go a long way. Her apartment features are beautiful. She has a balcony where she can go out and look out over the courtyard. She seems to enjoy the food. If they make something that she doesn't want to eat, she can order ahead before that lunch period, and then she can order something else if she looks at the menu. They have programs that are designed for inside, and then they go on bus trips to different places, on the van. They take them to shopping centers. They take them to little outings like ice cream places and stuff. The facility is very nice and very clean. For an independent, you get your room cleaned once a week. They take the trash out of your apartment every day. They take care of the independent and assisted living rooms well. They have a sunroom, they have a room where they do puzzles, they have a room for arts and crafts, they also have a room where they exercise, and they have a room where they can just relax and watch TV and have entertainment. I believe the price is within range of most of the centers. Some of them I took her to were kind of skyrocket. She didn't want to pay that much. She got in on a discount for independent living this time."

"I am a friend of a past resident who recently passed away. I became involved when his son was searching for an assisted living facility. After an exhausting search, a miracle lead us to The Bickford. Upon entering the facility you feel right at home. The clean, spacious, well lighted entrance is very attractive. The amount of seating dispersed throughout the facility afforded to visitors and residents is well planned and comfortable. The variety of available rooms and sizes is diverse. The Bickford is ready, willing and able to modify some of the room arrangements to accommodate special needs. The staff is amazing and the administrative personnel is always available. The Bickford offers a diverse variety of activities for every type of resident. The staff makes sure you are reminded and assisted (if necessary) to attend activities of interest. The loving and compassionate care provided to my friend was amazing."

"The Village of Westerville was a nice place. I would live there. They have everything you need. They have transportation, and they take you to grocery stores if you don't have a car. They have little stores inside. They have a little mini-mall area actually. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very nice, but I just kind of felt rushed. It was all centered around. The apartment seemed kind of small, but it had a huge, nice bathroom. The kitchen was nice. They have no food service at all."

"I had a friend in Carroll Place. It was really nice but kind of fancy. They had a lot of things going on, and she loved it there. They had exercise classes, outdoor activities, and took trips. They had a snack bar, a TV lounge, a beauty parlor, a barber shop, and an ice cream parlor. They had a very nice menu for their meals prepared by a chef and a very pretty dining room. "

"My dad moved into the Reflections Retirement Community. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They supply their appliances. It's got a refrigerator and a small stove. It's pretty roomy. It's like a one-bedroom apartment. They have different meal plans. If you're on the independent side, you could have a meal plan, or you could choose not to if you could make your own meals. They give you a selection of what's on their main menu. They go out into the community. They also do games and puzzles. There are all kinds of activities."

"I went to visit my aunt at Oakleaf Village of Columbus. I think it's a nice place. I am not sure if they watch everyone as well as I think they should. It seems that the food is good. She needs hearing aids, and her hearing aids have been lost. Whenever we pick her up, sometimes her hair is dirty and unkempt. Sometimes other people are wearing her shoes or clothes. They do a lot of different activities, which is nice. They bring in musicians and sing together. They have a nice Thanksgiving meal before COVID, which our family has enjoyed. Some staff members cared about her. The facility looks like a nice atmosphere. They have nice walls and a fireplace. We have gone into the little beauty area, washed her hair, and colored it one time. That's all they have, but you have to have money to pay for that. They have a little walkout area, but I've never seen her be able to use it. They have a garden area with some flowers, but I've never seen anyone out in the garden area. I like the setup where they all have to gather together in a dining area. It's an open system so you can see the TV."

"I toured the assisted living facility of Alpine House Of Columbus. I like that when you go in, they have the black iron work and all the trees in the community area, and where you eat. I like that part. I did not like the apartment space because it didn't have a stove. I would really like to have a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a bath. I didn't like that when you walked in the door, you could see the whole apartment. I also did not like the area. The tour was great, though. They also mentioned that the meals and snacks are included, and I like that part."

"I think we've been to The Bristol a few times already. The physical appearance was fantastic, especially the fourth floor was looking out over to the back and a large patio where you can see the woods. It was just beautiful and the apartments were reasonably sized. The staff was very cooperative. They kept in touch with us but didn't bother us. They've been very attentive but not pushy. We also tried the food and we enjoyed it. They had a movie theater and an exercise area. It was very comfortable and several people were very nice enough to let us go into their apartments, and they're very generous in sharing their thoughts. They all had a very positive attitude."

"we moved my uncle in during the pandemic this facility was absolutely phenomenal they took him in and loved him like he was their family we could only do window visits which was very hard to move someone in during a pandemic knowing that you’re not going to see them but they have accommodated and made his stay wonderful he loves it there the food is fabulous and everyone goes above and beyond. we have been able to visit now in the facility the facility is very clean and taken care of. he told us the staff could not be any nicer they take good care of him check on him all the time he requires a lot of care and they have been able to provide all of that I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to moved a loved one into an assisted living. During the pandemic we felt very safe that he would not contract Covid Because of all the precautions that they have taken and still have not had a case of Covid to this day"

"My mom has lived at the Chestnut House since April 2015 and enjoys it very much. She likes the staff, residents, activities, sermons on Sundays and the food is delicious! As a family member I appreciate the loving care mom receives from every staff member. The building is always clean and homey feeling, not institutional feeling. The residents are always FIRST!!!!! This has been one of the best choices for mom, we know she is happy, safe and has 24 hour medical care. It’s real peace of mind for my sisters and I. Thank you- Chestnut House Staff"
