"The Village of Westerville was a nice place. I would live there. They have everything you need. They have transportation, and they take you to grocery stores if you don't have a car. They have little stores inside. They have a little mini-mall area actually. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very nice, but I just kind of felt rushed. It was all centered around. The apartment seemed kind of small, but it had a huge, nice bathroom. The kitchen was nice. They have no food service at all."

"Storypoint offers a variety of room options that are spacious and updated. Kitchens have granite countertops and stainless appliances. Master bedroom closet is spacious with washer and dryer. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My dad has been happy here and enjoys the food and all amenities (exercise room, activities, and outings). "

"I went to Westerwood. I think they did a really good job. They gave me a good tour. I went there and had lunch with them and talked with them. I had a lot of time to talk with them about stuff. Overall, I think it's a very good place. The thing I liked the least was the money, that it takes a lot of money to go there, and it's very difficult for me. I'm going to have to go to a really small apartment. As far as good things, it had very good things. I just was very pleased with what was there and the activities that they have for people. I thought it was very clean. The food was OK; it was good. The staff was wonderful, all of them. They have a lot of classes. They have an art room, which I'm really interested in."

"My mother-in-law has moved into The Ashford on Broad. We chose it because she was comfortable with that area and she wanted to be near where some of her friends could come and visit her and not have to go a long way. Her apartment features are beautiful. She has a balcony where she can go out and look out over the courtyard. She seems to enjoy the food. If they make something that she doesn't want to eat, she can order ahead before that lunch period, and then she can order something else if she looks at the menu. They have programs that are designed for inside, and then they go on bus trips to different places, on the van. They take them to shopping centers. They take them to little outings like ice cream places and stuff. The facility is very nice and very clean. For an independent, you get your room cleaned once a week. They take the trash out of your apartment every day. They take care of the independent and assisted living rooms well. They have a sunroom, they have a room where they do puzzles, they have a room for arts and crafts, they also have a room where they exercise, and they have a room where they can just relax and watch TV and have entertainment. I believe the price is within range of most of the centers. Some of them I took her to were kind of skyrocket. She didn't want to pay that much. She got in on a discount for independent living this time."

"We're happy with Oakleaf Village of Columbus. It's a good environment for Mom. She likes that the room size is fairly large for a studio. She has a full kitchen, which is something we were looking for. She has a full refrigerator, stove, and microwave. They serve three meals, but you have to buy the third if you want it. They have laundry, medication services, bathing, and clothing assistance, and they have a nurse there that will come in and check your blood pressure and weigh you daily. They provide trash collection and they have transportation to doctors' offices. I've eaten there and it's good. They have a lot of activities."

"My wife now calls Grace House at Kensington Place her home. The staff there really cares, listens and knows how to respect and support those in their care. The spaces are clean, food is well prepared and served with love. Yep that’s right- love. Our children and I can now provide the love a mother and wife needs. With Kensington Places help doing a lot of the care we can now focus on the loving and filling her days with that. Thank you Jensington"

"I went to look at Wexner Heritage Village - Creekside at The Village. The place was very clean. The staff was wonderful. The lady who greeted us was kind of not wonderful. But the lady who runs it was very informative, great to talk to, and answered a lot of questions. It was a very nice place. I saw the menu, but I did not try anything on it. They took us around and showed us the apartments, which were very nice. They were having a little concert downstairs, which was nice to see as well. It was almost like a hotel."

"We toured the assisted living section, and it was excellent. The community is very welcoming. The person who gave the tour was very thorough and very good at what she does. She gave a very warm feeling about the place. The room was very good, and the bathroom was very large. The activities were excellent. They have a wide variety, and they were very appealing."

"My mom has been at Danbury Columbus for 3 1/2 years. In that time she has moved from the regular assisted living to the memory care due to her need for an increased level of care. It is evident from just being at Danbury that Everyone genuinely cares for all the residents. The staff from the Executive Director to housekeeping knows each resident by name. Each resident no matter their level of care or cognition is treated with dignity and respect. In the time she has been there they have always had excellent staffing. The staff are very approachable and willing to assist to ensure that all needs are met. The staff also get to know the famiIy members. I work in healthcare and I am familiar with different care facilities throughout Columbus. Danbury provides Exceptional care. I would and have already recommended Danbury to friend and family."

"Harrison on 5th by Senior Star is the place I like the best out of the four I've seen so far. Its appearance is very appealing. Everyone that I met were staff members and also residents. The staff members seemed very capable, very friendly, and very professional. The residents appeared, to me, to be very happy. The facility was very clean, very fresh looking, attractive, nicely painted, and appeared to be nicely maintained. The person who gave me the tour was Seneca. The reason I like this facility the best of the four I have seen so far is because she was so transparent about everything, about the costs and the charges for the level of care. With the others, there will be more work for me to figure out what it would cost for my cousin to go there or I won't be able to find out what they consider her level of care to be until after the assessment. At Harrison on 5th by Senior Star, based on my description of her needs, they came up with what they thought was the likely level of care cost, and they said this can change after they do an assessment in some way (in person or electronically), and then they could tell me for sure. They were the only one of the four that gave me an idea in advance right on the spot."

"Brookdale Trillium Crossing was just too big for my father. He needed something smaller, but it was a lovely community. The staff was very helpful, very pleasant, friendly, and very gracious. They provided a lot of good information. The only concern was simply that it was just too big a facility. My father's visually impaired, so it is very difficult for him to learn a new facility that is large. Their menu was phenomenal. It was filet mignon every day, if you wanted. My father is more of a plain food person, liked mashed potatoes and gravy. He likes simpler meals, and it was just a little over-the-top for him. The other issue was that he couldn't cut the food. They had very good food, but the problem was it was too complicated for him. They had singalongs and different levels of activities that people could participate in, depending on their level of interest. With my father, his visual limitations prevented him from participating in some of the activities. It was just a little bit pricy and a little fancy for my dad."

"The Coventry Senior Living was very pretty. It's only been there for 14 months so it was the newest with the biggest rooms and the most activities. I met the woman who gave me a tour, I met two nurses, the chef, the dining room supervisor, and the receptionist. All of them are very friendly. They stopped at the table where we were talking and chatted for a few minutes. All of them stopped, except the receptionist, because she had to stay in the lobby. I did not eat there but I talked to the chef. He said that they don't open cans and they don't freeze their vegetables. All of their vegetables are fresh. That's the only place where I got any information about food. I just don't know what it would cost for my cousin to go there, and that was the drawback. They were a little vague. They said they're willing to do an assessment, even if we haven't decided she's coming, like on FaceTime or something, because my cousin is not local. So, they said they could do a long-distance assessment, then they could tell us which level of care she would be in. If I were younger and had unlimited time, I could do all these assessments and find out exactly what it would cost everywhere, but I'm not younger. They've got a beautiful library and three dining rooms connected to each other. It's beautifully laid out. It's in a busy neighborhood, a construction zone, so I wouldn't give the neighborhood a high mark, but the facility is beautiful. There's a parking garage."
