Assisted Living Communities in Granville, OH

"Sage Park Alzheimer's Special Care Center is very impressive. However, I'm not sure my mom is ready for memory care. I am super impressed with it. If my mom gets to the point where there is more of a memory care need, then I would definitely consider this place. It is great for memory care. They definitely specialize in that. The staff memnber who assisted me was wonderful. She's one of the reasons why I would totally consider them. They have a shared room, which is minimal. They have private rooms, but even with a private room it is a shared bathroom. The rooms are small. They keep the residents busy there. They go from one activity to another."

"It is pretty new. It was clean, and the staff is well done. I do not think they are on top as far as things to do, but I think are trying. I think the presentation of walking in the lobby kind of caught our eye, and the presentation of the people who gave us the tour was very nice. I have tried the food a couple of times. At first it was very good, and as time went by, their portions have become smaller, and the food is not that great. They are short on activities, and I would like to see them have more activities for the residents. They have a lovely pool place, and my ex-husband Phil is teaching pool there. "

"My wife is in StoryPoint Gahanna Central. I liked the neighborhood concept. I liked the layout to sort of mimic someone's home where there's a kitchen, a dining area, and a living room with television viewing available. I liked the fact that there were not giant, long, endless hallways that felt like you were in some giant hotel. I didn't want that feel at all. This venue does not have that kind of situation. I'm overall very satisfied with things. We had a few bumps in the road. Sometimes, her personal items would get misplaced. I thought initially someone might have been stealing them but as it turns out, the vast majority of the time, the items found their way back. We had some issues with her eating habits. She doesn't want to eat necessarily when StoryPoint begins the meal service. She wants to delay her mealtime and so it's been a bit of a problem. Sometimes, it's been 8:15 or 8:30 at night and she still hasn't eaten. That's been for the most part remedied. The administrative staff has made it clear to the caregivers that her eating schedule is such as it is, and they need to periodically remind her that it's time that she come out and eat. They provide three meals a day. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I'm almost always here for lunch. I'll see my wife's food sometimes and taste it and it's good. Sometimes, the presentation isn't the greatest. The food tastes better than the presentation sometimes, but my wife has no particular complaints about the food, nor do I. There is entertainment frequently. I've been very, very pleased with the functions that we have been in. They brought in entertainers of various sorts. They have therapy dogs come in. In the memory care unit, there's no way a memory patient is going to make the television work in the living room because I can't get it to function correctly. There needs to be some sort of instructions written out. They got three controllers and it's very difficult to do. I have an issue with reentering the facility at nighttime. I take my wife out to eat maybe once a week and we'll show up at the front door at 7:30 or 8:00 or 8:30, whatever, and ring the doorbell and it has often taken us 10 minutes for someone to respond to the doorbell alarm to come let us in the building. I don't know whose fault that is, but it's a little bit of an issue. Sometimes there's a lack of a relay between one shift and the next shift. For instance, if I tell someone that my wife's bedsheets need laundered because they're dirty or because we need new soap in the dispenser in the bathroom, whatever it might be, they'll say, "OK, we'll let the evening shift or the night shift or the day shift or whatever know." It seems like sometimes that message gets dropped between shifts because things sometimes don't get done. It's not a frequent issue, but it does happen."

"Cherry Blossom Senior Living was a nice facility. The staff was informative and pretty helpful. Everything's really nice and clean. It felt like home. The rooms were what I really liked the best. They were nice. It had a bedroom and a separate little kitchen. It was like a little apartment. It's just my mom wouldn't qualify to get in there because of her income."

"I will move into The Village of Westerville. The staff is very nice and the rooms are great. I have a bedroom with a living room, a walk-in closet and a refrigerator, a nice bathroom, and a walk-in shower. I have a paper that tells what activities are there and they look nice. They go shopping, and they have a beautiful dining room. When we were there, they served ham and cornbread and corn and mashed sweet potatoes, and they had a salad bar. It's very good. I liked the apartment well, and the manager was sweet, nice, and kind to us."

"My Father has lived at the Woodlands on E. Broad Street for almost 2 years., The Staff ,what can I say... there Great !!!! Carol, Ashley, Christy , Candy ... All Do AAA+++ Jobs ...... This place has a very Uplifting Vibe when you enter the place, the Food, Care and treatment of the Residents are all first Rate !!!! They make a very difficult job look easy........... God Bless You Guys at the Woodlands!!! "

"Sterling House was a little more expensive, but not that much more. I saw the dining room and talked to a couple of members of the staff. They all seemed to be very nice. They play cards, bingo, and they have entertainers come in throughout the month. The dining facility may have been a little different. They had tables and I think they had small dining areas, which made it feel a little homier rather than institutionalized. "

"The staff at Westerwood was very nice and helpful. The rooms had different layouts. They had rooms with garages to them and lots of storage areas. They were very nice. They had a little garden area outside, a pool table, a woodshop, and an exercise room."

"I was very impressed with The Ashford on Broad. I was welcomed well, and the person who showed me through was very kind and answered all my questions. The place looked lovely. I've been to some other ones, and this was more reasonably priced. I saw people in the gathering areas, and they had a very nice events calendar. The rooms were very nice, too."

"This facility is a really wonderful place for your loved one! They have a locked memory care next door as well as Assisted Living and Independent living in their main building. Staff is always friendly and truly care about their patients. Suzi in activities always has lots of fun things going on for the residents including many different musicians who come in the building for entertainment during the week. I have been impressed with all that they have to offer and they have even begun recent updates to the building which are turning out beautiful. "

"I toured Kensington Place Retirement Community. I like the apartments. The assisted living and the memory care apartments were the same size as the independent living. They had a nice layout for community areas and a nice outside area where people could sit. It's very nice. The staff members were all friendly and they related well to the residents. The facility was very well made."

"I moved into Alpine House Of Columbus, it's very nice and the staff is very good. The rooms are very spacious, we do bingo, play charades, we have a gym, and we go outside and sit. They have benches out there, it's very nice and well-maintained. The food is very good. The other residents are very nice, I haven't met anybody that was rude. It's very good value for money."

"Paramount Senior Living at Polaris was brand new. They were very accommodating. We didn't meet very many people as far as staff goes. I just met the head nurse and she was fine. The facilities were outstanding. They had everything like a theater, a salon, a gym, and stuff like that. Cleanliness was very nice, and upkeep was excellent. It's on the main road, Polaris Parkway, and it's very convenient to Westerville. It's only about 3 miles from where we live. The rooms were adequate."

"I visited the assisted living facility of Bickford of Bexley, and it was fine. They just have a lot of stuff there, so it looks kind of cluttered, and for older people, I don't think that's good. Other than that, the rooms were of average size, and they're clean. The staff members and the person who gave the tour were nice. The dining area was nice, and it had plenty of room. It also looked clean. The amenities looked decent, too."
