The staff made it as easy as possible to move my mom into the memory care unit. It was a difficult decision to make this step, but the staff listened to my needs and concerns and worked with me and made sure I understood what to expect. They have always been welcoming and kind and treat my mom as if she is their family member.

When my mom decided it was time for assisted living, she wanted to return to the facility where she had received excellent care after a fall 3 years prior. It wasn't long before we realized that was not where she should be. Danbury (Mount Vernon) was just getting ready to open so we made arrangements to move her. Neither mom nor the family has ever looked back. At Danbury, our mom has been surrounded by people. She is still quite social so the choice of many friends has been a blessing. Exercise class, game gatherings, craft days, field trips and the dining room are all welcome parts of her day. The staff has become attached to our mom and she to them. The care team ministers to her faithfully. The activities director always finds a job for her when she is looking for something to do outside of her room. And, while mom doesn't have to be involved with the administrative team, they still love her well and they are very responsive to any questions/concerns the family presents. The employees work together like a healthy family would. Mom calls one of the larger studio rooms "home." The studio has a large bathroom and a kitchenette with a good size refrigerator considering all meals are provided in the dining room. A twin size bed, piano, desk, recliner and guest seating make the room cozy without being crowded. While we are thrilled that Mount Vernon, OH has this beautiful option, we do recognize that much of mom's happiness has been up to her and she has risen to the occasion most days. A move to assisted living requires some big adjustments in independence. We are thankful for a staff that has embraced our mom and made it a much easier transition than it could have been. And we are so grateful for a mom who has chosen to embrace them in return.

My dad has lived in Danbury Mount Vernon since they opened in August 2022. As family members, we are greeted every time we walk in the front doors to visit. From the bright and beautiful wall colors and furnishings, to the large aviary and aquarium, each area is welcoming and comfortable and beautifully decorated. The entire staff at Danbury Mount Vernon is top-notch. I'm continually amazed and appreciative of their intentional interaction with ALL residents. The staff treats each resident like family and they take the time needed to truly KNOW and understand each resident and their needs. Kindness matters and this staff exceeds my expectations day after day. We are blessed to have my Dad living in this community - he is thriving at Danbury. The resident rooms are bright with natural light from large windows. My dad lives in a room called the "Buckeye Room", and there's plenty of space for a double bed, recliner, bedside table, tv and tv stand, as well as extra seating for guests. Each room has it's own thermostat to keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. There is a large built-in cupboard/cabinet that has lots of storage and a there's a nice sized closet. There is a small refrigerator and sink. The bathroom is very large and bright and the shower has a built-in seat and bars for stability. There are many activities each day for the residents - music, games, crafts, and outings. Their holiday/family parties and activities are always fun for all! The residents and families receive a monthly calendar of all scheduled activities. The housekeeping staff is top-notch. Rooms and bathrooms are always clean. Beds are changed frequently and laundry is done often and put away in their closet for each resident.

Danbury has been a godsend for us. Dad is very happy to be at Danbury and is always saying how thankful he is for this place. The staff is so caring and attentive and the facility is beautiful and bright. There's a pleasant, positive atmosphere we didn't find other places. In the times when Dad has struggled physically, the staff has gone out of their way to care for him, and also to communicate with me. There are plenty of daily activities plus special events. Dad likes that he has the privacy of his own bedroom and living room, but it's also just a short walk down the hall to see his friends and socialize. We are very thankful!

Danbury MV has been the best place for my Mom! The staff is very caring, personal and supportive! It’s kept very clean and it’s very secure. Excellent management and communication. We feel like they are family!
