Assisted Living Communities in New Albany, OH

"I visited Westerwood. They have a lot of variation in services and a lot of things to do. I liked that place. The guy sat down, took a lot of time with me, and went over stuff with me. He went over everything thoroughly with me. I interacted with the receptionist there. She was very accommodating. The facility looked very nice. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. They had a lot of different types of facilities. They had their bank in there. They had an actual weight room in there. They had a little bit of everything. Anything you wanted, they had there. They have somebody in there to help you walk better. They have physical therapy onsite. They have movie nights, and they have a choir. They have things to do all day long if you want to."

"My brother has moved into Brookdale Westerville. He and his wife were both happy with it. They chose it because the place was clean and nice, and the residents when we visited seemed happy. I know the price had something to do with it, too, because memory care is expensive. The staff is very friendly and the nurses are very kind. According to my brother, the food is delicious. I know they've got activities. I know they do stuff with him, but we haven't been there long enough. It's very clean."

"I like the independent living cottages at Cherry Blossom Senior Living. They're almost identical size to the apartment that I have now, so I won't have to do very much downsizing. My brother visited them too, and he raved about the dining room. It's very nice. They have a garage which is larger than the garage that I have now. They had hallways going off of the dining room where they have physical fitness. I got a ticket for a free dinner, so I'm going to go there to try out their food. The independent living cottages are very large compared to most senior places and that's the main thing that impressed me. The staff gave me the floor plans that had dimensions on it. They have a very good program for their residents. They take you to different places and different stores."

"I visited The Woodlands of Columbus. The tour was good. I did not get to tour with the person I needed to speak with. She was on vacation, but the facility is fine. I liked it a lot, and the price was reasonable. I saw a studio, and it was cute. I liked it. It was a good size. The upkeep was fine during the middle of remodeling. The staff member who gave the tour was as nice and informative as she could be, considering that she wasn't the person who was supposed to give me the tour. But she was very professional and friendly. The dining area was very roomy. It's a nice facility."

"My mother-in-law has moved into The Ashford on Broad. We chose it because she was comfortable with that area and she wanted to be near where some of her friends could come and visit her and not have to go a long way. Her apartment features are beautiful. She has a balcony where she can go out and look out over the courtyard. She seems to enjoy the food. If they make something that she doesn't want to eat, she can order ahead before that lunch period, and then she can order something else if she looks at the menu. They have programs that are designed for inside, and then they go on bus trips to different places, on the van. They take them to shopping centers. They take them to little outings like ice cream places and stuff. The facility is very nice and very clean. For an independent, you get your room cleaned once a week. They take the trash out of your apartment every day. They take care of the independent and assisted living rooms well. They have a sunroom, they have a room where they do puzzles, they have a room for arts and crafts, they also have a room where they exercise, and they have a room where they can just relax and watch TV and have entertainment. I believe the price is within range of most of the centers. Some of them I took her to were kind of skyrocket. She didn't want to pay that much. She got in on a discount for independent living this time."

"My tour of Oakleaf Village of Columbus was nice. It was a wonderful place. Britney was very knowledgeable about the facility. The room was nice; it was almost like an apartment and it could offer a great deal of independence to my mom. The facility was clean. What I liked most about the facility was that the dining room area was almost like a restaurant to the point where you could order food any time of day. It was like limitless food and it was included in your package. It looked almost gourmet-like; it wasn't cafeteria-style or undesirable looking. It was nice looking too, which to me was important. I think it was during Halloween that I was there, so everything looked nicely decorated. The staff was very pleasant and very warm."

"I toured Kensington Place Retirement Community. I like the apartments. The assisted living and the memory care apartments were the same size as the independent living. They had a nice layout for community areas and a nice outside area where people could sit. It's very nice. The staff members were all friendly and they related well to the residents. The facility was very well made."

"I went to Alpine House of Columbus. It was a great experience. The staff was lovely. The place was lovely. I liked everything that I heard. It was a nice facility. I liked the stairway and they had an elevator, too, so that's a plus. They offer the laundry and help you with your medicine, and they do housecleaning. As far as I could see, everything was nice."

"I toured Bickford of Bexley. It's excellent. The dining area and the room were beautiful. The room was smaller than the one at the other facility, but it was beautiful, and so was the price. The person who gave the tour was very professional and answered all my questions. I sat down with a nurse at Bickford only because she was the one who scheduled me to talk with. She took down notes and concerns with my sister, but once I voiced that she would eventually need Medicaid, it was off the table."

"My mom lives here in memory care. We are very happy with the activities that she can participate in. She is well fed, and is very taken care of by the staff. I'm glad we went with Bear Trail!"

"We went to Bickford of Worthington. The building seemed very open and very comfortable. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable. They seemed to be very supportive of the residents there. They were open with information. If I had any questions or if I thought of anything, they were ready to answer whatever my concerns were in preparation for my grandmother. They had various sizes of rooms. The ones I got to see were the smaller ones. Depending on what size of room you might need, they had a schedule based on how much you could pay. I think it was either per day or per week or something like that. The place looked clean and well-kept from what I could tell. I didn't get a chance to try their food. It smelled good though. From what I could see, it looked like the people were comfortable."

"I went to look at Wexner Heritage Village - Creekside at The Village. The place was very clean. The staff was wonderful. The lady who greeted us was kind of not wonderful. But the lady who runs it was very informative, great to talk to, and answered a lot of questions. It was a very nice place. I saw the menu, but I did not try anything on it. They took us around and showed us the apartments, which were very nice. They were having a little concert downstairs, which was nice to see as well. It was almost like a hotel."

"The lady who did the tour at The Avalon of Lewis Center was good to follow up later with me. She reached out to me several times and they even brought something by my door and left a little gift, a book, on how to pick communities, and things like that. She also followed up with me through email and phone calls multiple times. I thought the tour was great. I liked the facility. It was very clean. It smelled good and it was well-maintained. It was the closest to where we lived so I was considering it during the time that I was looking for my dad."
