"I toured The Avalon of New Albany. I liked everything about it. The people were great. They were very informative and very nice, and they walked me around everywhere. They told me all the things that I didn't know I needed to look for. The facility itself was beautiful. They had a special art room, a chapel, and a lounge area downstairs which looked like a very nice cafe place. Once a month, they have a podiatrist that comes to the facility. There was a courtyard and a screened-in patio. There was a beauty and barbershop. They had a restaurant-style dining area and a couple of different locations throughout the building that are larger lounge areas with little kitchens where you could have all your family come for big dinners. They had a popcorn machine, and they do happy hour once a week. They gave us muffins for snacks and it was very good. They had a lot of things written on a menu board that you could order. And if it wasn't on that day's menu, you could order something, particularly that you like. "

"I liked Bickford of Bexley. I liked the activities and the surroundings, but my mother-in-law didn't want to be there because she noticed more people needed assistance than she did. I wouldn't put an independent person there. The staff was very informative and very nice. It was a nice place. They had a salon. It's near all the restaurants on Main Street. Your family could come and take you to eat out or you can eat there, so it was convenient."

"I went to Westerwood. I think they did a really good job. They gave me a good tour. I went there and had lunch with them and talked with them. I had a lot of time to talk with them about stuff. Overall, I think it's a very good place. The thing I liked the least was the money, that it takes a lot of money to go there, and it's very difficult for me. I'm going to have to go to a really small apartment. As far as good things, it had very good things. I just was very pleased with what was there and the activities that they have for people. I thought it was very clean. The food was OK; it was good. The staff was wonderful, all of them. They have a lot of classes. They have an art room, which I'm really interested in."

"Brookdale Westerville was a lovely place. It's just a very, very small community. Everybody was friendly. The facility was pretty and had a lovely little interior garden. It just had a very, very inviting atmosphere. I even talked to some of the residents, and they joked around with me a little bit. It was very nice. They have an activity room, which is neat. I was kind of there in the early evening, so they're watching the news. The staff was very friendly."

"The Grove at Oakleaf Village seemed quite clean. We had lived in the neighborhood prior to having it recommended to us. Once we went over and visited/had our interview, it seemed like they would be the right choice for us. They take care of our laundry. I was told there are three meals a day, plus evening snack. To my knowledge, there's 24/7 coffee. I hear there are activities for the memory care person. The staff was very nice and very welcoming. They would take state assistance, which is Medicaid."

"My experience with Danbury in Westerville has been exceptional. As a facility entrusted with the care of my aging parents, Danbury has consistently exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The facility is impeccably clean and well-kept. From the moment you step inside, you can immediately sense the dedication to maintaining a comfortable and hygienic environment for residents. I believe this type of attention to detail speaks volumes about their overall commitment to quality. What truly distinguishes Danbury, however, is its staff. In all my interactions, from administrative personnel to caregivers, I have encountered individuals who are not only highly professional but also genuinely caring. Their compassion and dedication to their work are evident in the way they treat residents and family members alike. My parents are in memory care, and I am grateful for the opportunities they have to engage in the 5 to 6 activities offered daily. These activities are designed especially for memory care residents and include things like sing-alongs, pet therapy, storytelling, and chair exercise. They have even taken 'field trips' which allow residents to get out and experience the beautiful parks nearby. Another standout feature of Danbury is their food services. The meals provided are nutritious and, according to my mother, delicious, thus ensuring residents are well-nourished and satisfied. Knowing that my parents are safe and in such capable and compassionate hands brings us great peace of mind."

"Harrison on 5th by Senior Star is the place I like the best out of the four I've seen so far. Its appearance is very appealing. Everyone that I met were staff members and also residents. The staff members seemed very capable, very friendly, and very professional. The residents appeared, to me, to be very happy. The facility was very clean, very fresh looking, attractive, nicely painted, and appeared to be nicely maintained. The person who gave me the tour was Seneca. The reason I like this facility the best of the four I have seen so far is because she was so transparent about everything, about the costs and the charges for the level of care. With the others, there will be more work for me to figure out what it would cost for my cousin to go there or I won't be able to find out what they consider her level of care to be until after the assessment. At Harrison on 5th by Senior Star, based on my description of her needs, they came up with what they thought was the likely level of care cost, and they said this can change after they do an assessment in some way (in person or electronically), and then they could tell me for sure. They were the only one of the four that gave me an idea in advance right on the spot."

"I was really impressed with the staff although my friend passed away a few weeks ago. They went out of their way. I would highly recommend them. They were very kind, very personal with him, and very concerned with the patient. I was very pleased."

"My mother moved into Bickford of Worthington. I'm very happy with the care that she's getting there. It seems to be very friendly, individualized care, I'm communicating with them, they're easy to get a hold of, and they seem really willing to cooperate with the family. I'm visiting there about two or three times a week. At first it was outside, and then had a room inside when the weather got bad. The staff is very nice, very helpful, very friendly, they always tell me what's going on with Mom, and tell me humorous things when interacting with her. She has a studio and I haven't been able to see it, but I did see it in a video once, and it seems a nice size. It seems to be adequate. They do crafts, they play games, they do her nails, they post them on their Facebook page, it's nice when I can find my mom, and on their website too, I think they post pictures. They do have a little courtyard in the back, it's fenced-in, and in the summer they have a big front porch that you can visit on when the weather is nice. She does physical therapy twice a week, they have someone that comes in, we had to get a doctor's order, but they have somebody there from some outside group."

"My mother-in-law will move to Bickford of Upper Arlington. I thought that the amount of time they gave me to visit the facility to get to know it was exceptional. They spent over an hour and a half with me. I got to meet several of the different staff members. They were all super gracious, and I liked the warm atmosphere of the facility."

"I was impressed with Danbury in Columbus. It was a very neat facility. They seemed to have activities. I talked to a couple of different residents there and they seemed very happy. They had an exercise room. They showed me two or three different kinds of rooms. I also saw the restrooms. One had a separate bedroom, and there was one that was part of a general living area."

"My Mom has been at Avalon since early December. The staff is amazing and show her so much affection. Even on the days that they are not assigned to her for care, they still stop by to say hello and check on her. She enjoys the food and they offer a variety of other things if they don’t want what is on the menu for the day. She is in a studio room which is plenty big for her, but they also have 1 bedroom rooms that have a separate living area. They have a rehab room where residents can do PT or OT if needed. They offer a wide variety of activities. The admission and move-in process was seamless."
