My mother-in-law has moved into The Avalon of New Albany. She's only been there for three days, but so far, so good. I like it because there are a lot of people who are at the same level as she is. In her previous location, most of the residents were nonverbal, so she didn't have anybody to talk to but the staff. I've only had interaction with the staff on move-in date, so it was fine. The move-in coordinator and the nurse came in to speak with us. Communication was good. She has a nice-sized room. It came with a built-in, attached to the wall, closet like an armoire for her clothing, but we had to provide everything else. It's a studio apartment with her own private bath. She's been doing lots of activities like arts and crafts. They appear to have a lot going on, but they also have three levels. They have the senior living on the first floor, assisted living on the second floor, and then memory care on the third. Every time we're there, we see the bus hauling people in and out, like going out on little excursions or whatever. They seem to be a very active community. She eats grilled cheese every meal, so she seems to love it. As long as they have that available for her every meal, which they do, and that she's happy, then that's all that matters. The first two floors are very nice. The memory care is not very exciting. It seems dated on the third floor, and they could use some additional ventilation and deodorizing because when you have memory care, you have a lot of incontinent type of tenants. The smell is not pleasant, but her room is great. It's just that they need to take care of that. I am saving $3,500 a month by moving her there. She is having conversations with people. We're very happy we've moved her there.

I visited The Avalon of New Albany's memory care. The staff that we interacted with stopped and introduced me to some other staff members. They seemed very happy at their job and very engaged in the activities that they were providing for the residents. I felt like they weren't being prompted, but they were giving me their honest emotions and feelings on the job. There is an outdoor space, but because the memory care unit is not on the first floor, the memory care residents don't have access to it without someone going with them. I was disappointed in that. Of the overall tour, that would be the only thing that was any kind of a disappointment to me. Other than that, it was clean, and there seemed to be a variety of activities.

We were going to have my sister go to The Avalon of New Albany, but they changed their mind at the last minute. I liked the fact that it's close to where I live. It's nice inside and it's got a great outdoor area in the back and it's where you park. It was really nice. The people that show you around were very nice. However, they're not the ones that decided this was not a good one for my sister.

I toured The Avalon of New Albany. I liked everything about it. The people were great. They were very informative and very nice, and they walked me around everywhere. They told me all the things that I didn't know I needed to look for. The facility itself was beautiful. They had a special art room, a chapel, and a lounge area downstairs which looked like a very nice cafe place. Once a month, they have a podiatrist that comes to the facility. There was a courtyard and a screened-in patio. There was a beauty and barbershop. They had a restaurant-style dining area and a couple of different locations throughout the building that are larger lounge areas with little kitchens where you could have all your family come for big dinners. They had a popcorn machine, and they do happy hour once a week. They gave us muffins for snacks and it was very good. They had a lot of things written on a menu board that you could order. And if it wasn't on that day's menu, you could order something, particularly that you like.

I have a relative who recently moved into the Avalon in New Albany. From our first call and visit we knew we found the right place. We have found the entire team has done a great job in easing the transition from independent living to assisted living. The food has been great and the activities have helped him make new friends. The facility is beautiful and his friends love the room he is in.

My sister liked it and so we chose it. She liked how it looked, and the things that were in it. She's moving there in November. They're very friendly, the community is clean, they have a lot of things to do, and hopefully she'll like it. The administrator and the director were both very friendly.

My mother has been in here a the place is beautiful. We are very happy with them so far. They have a great team. My mom is still adjusting, but we feel more comfortable with the care than we did in her previous place. She has a one-bedroom. There is a bedroom, a living room, and a very nice kitchen area, which is an improvement from her last place. She has a little bar, a nice countertop, a sink, and a refrigerator. The kitchen area is very nice. We haven't been involved in a lot of activities because, unfortunately, with the virus going around, a lot of those have been stopped. They have a lot of activities. Right now they're actually setting up video conferences for the residents since we cannot visit. They are doing the activities that they can do. My mom hasn't been there long enough to really get involved, but it is good. They have a salon, an exercise room, a spa, an office area, a movie theater, and a community council hall place. One of the nice things that I have not seen in other places is their greenhouse area where you can garden and do some different things. So far, it has been great. The administration, the nursing staff, and the therapy people have been great. We have little bit of trouble with the aides. My mom isn't that impressed with the food, but from what I've seen it is pretty good.

My mother is in here and the care is sufficient for her. They care for her needs and everything and we're pretty happy with them. Her room is kept pretty clean once in a while. There's stuff on the floor but not very much. They have bingo and games, did a play for the Wizard of Oz, do trivia, have a theater, and have a guy that plays old songs on the piano with them. She seems to like it a lot and she's making friends. The food is wonderful.

The staff here is great. The chef is excellent! He not only makes good meals, but he is flexible with my special requests. My entire family and I are impressed by the size of the apartments. There are other great additional services here as well such as church and beauty salon! Gardening is one of my passions, so I'm happy I can still garden outside in the spring. They also have an excellent exercise room along with fun games such as scrabble and bingo. My caregiver is the best. He is so kind and considerate and still gives me my privacy when I need it.
