Assisted Living Communities in Columbus, OH

"I went to Westerwood. I think they did a really good job. They gave me a good tour. I went there and had lunch with them and talked with them. I had a lot of time to talk with them about stuff. Overall, I think it's a very good place. The thing I liked the least was the money, that it takes a lot of money to go there, and it's very difficult for me. I'm going to have to go to a really small apartment. As far as good things, it had very good things. I just was very pleased with what was there and the activities that they have for people. I thought it was very clean. The food was OK; it was good. The staff was wonderful, all of them. They have a lot of classes. They have an art room, which I'm really interested in."

"I went to Wexner Heritage Village - Creekside at the Village. It was a very nice visit, and the lady that showed us around was very courteous, friendly, and very professional. She gave us all the details and all the information. She didn't leave anything out of the questions that we would ask. She answered pretty much all our questions before we needed to ask any, and we walked away with everything we needed to go on as far as making a decision and moving forward if that would have been our location. They showed us a couple of different rooms, like a studio room versus a two-bedroom room. And they had quite a few stories, I think it's three or four stories high. It was an older facility, but it was well-kept and well-maintained. It had a lot of positive amenities as well."

"I toured the assisted living facility of Alpine House Of Columbus. I like that when you go in, they have the black iron work and all the trees in the community area, and where you eat. I like that part. I did not like the apartment space because it didn't have a stove. I would really like to have a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a bath. I didn't like that when you walked in the door, you could see the whole apartment. I also did not like the area. The tour was great, though. They also mentioned that the meals and snacks are included, and I like that part."

"I went to tour. I looked at both their assisted living and memory care. It was very clean. The rooms were nice. They were very accommodating to meet your needs. They had activities. They had menus so that if the seniors that were there didn't like what was being served, they can choose something off from the menu, so that was a plus. It was good. They made sure the rooms were bright, and they had windows so that they could look out. They had their own little doors and you could decorate them to try to make them feel at home like bring in their own pictures and whatever, and they help you do that."

"The atmosphere was nice. The staff was very outgoing and friendly. The rooms were clean and spacious. There were several activity areas; they have games, crafts, and trivia. "

"As far as the rooms, they were clean and adequate as far as a bed. This was a double room that I saw with two twin beds, and it is nothing like what my parents are used to, so it would be a downsize from their home certainly. Brookdale Westerville looked like a remodeled facility. Their entrance way was pleasant, so I would give it a four for its appearance. "

"My mother-in-law has moved into The Ashford on Broad. We chose it because she was comfortable with that area and she wanted to be near where some of her friends could come and visit her and not have to go a long way. Her apartment features are beautiful. She has a balcony where she can go out and look out over the courtyard. She seems to enjoy the food. If they make something that she doesn't want to eat, she can order ahead before that lunch period, and then she can order something else if she looks at the menu. They have programs that are designed for inside, and then they go on bus trips to different places, on the van. They take them to shopping centers. They take them to little outings like ice cream places and stuff. The facility is very nice and very clean. For an independent, you get your room cleaned once a week. They take the trash out of your apartment every day. They take care of the independent and assisted living rooms well. They have a sunroom, they have a room where they do puzzles, they have a room for arts and crafts, they also have a room where they exercise, and they have a room where they can just relax and watch TV and have entertainment. I believe the price is within range of most of the centers. Some of them I took her to were kind of skyrocket. She didn't want to pay that much. She got in on a discount for independent living this time."

"My mother-in-law will move to Bickford of Upper Arlington. I thought that the amount of time they gave me to visit the facility to get to know it was exceptional. They spent over an hour and a half with me. I got to meet several of the different staff members. They were all super gracious, and I liked the warm atmosphere of the facility."

"I went to look at The Village at Westerville Retirement Center. It is very friendly and very homey. It was just a pleasant place to be. The staff was wonderful. I see that their calendar is full of activities every day. Our dinners will be prepared. They have a beauty salon, library, and craft room. As far as I know, there are activities such as playing cards, bingo, and just about anything you could think of. They have physical therapy and a workout room. They have a raised garden that you could plant your own garden if you choose. There's a quarter-mile walking path around. My husband stayed there last year alone for assisted living, and he loved the dining hall. He was very excited and glad to go back because he enjoyed the presentation, the waiter, the food, and the desserts. He loved it all. He was there three months, and then we toured it again in another area. We were looking at apartments, not a studio."

"The experience at the Woodlands was very good. The staff was comparable, kind, gentle, and efficient. The rooms were adequate, and the dining area was very good. They had traditional games and a library for recreation. "

"Sage Park Memory Care & Transitional Assisted Living was a five because of the level of care that they give, a very clean environment, and it felt very safe. The tour and the amenities that they have were really nice. It looks like they were very caring and very helpful information-wise. Everybody spoke when I was there. The common areas were really nice and clean. The rooms were very nice, clean, and big. I did like the fact that they had private rooms. The shared rooms weren't bad, but pricing is a little high for me."

"My parents have lived at Storypoint for a year now. I’m very impressed by the fellowship opportunities that are offered. They regularly organize activities for the entire family to enjoy. My grandson always likes spending time there. We’ve gone to the carnival, live music offerings, Bingo and tailgate fun just to name a few. The facility is well maintained and clean and staff is always nice and helpful. I am satisfied. "

"My family member has been a resident for several years, and is currently in Assisted Living. Most important, is that my mom is safe and happy here, and I know the staff values her as a member of the community. Administration has always been open to communication and resolves questions quickly. Food is good, and surroundings are pleasant and in good repair. Various apartment layouts are available. Both indoor and outdoor lounge areas are used for recreation therapy and special events. Transportation is offered for outside appointments, lunches, and shopping."

"Cherry Blossom Senior Living is a newer facility. It's large and extremely well furnished. Everything was very well-maintained. The amenities were extensive, and the apartments were large and nice. It was more of a transitional facility. They had detached outside condominiums surrounding the facility, and then the main unit was quite large. The rooms seemed more spacious than others. I think the spaciousness was reflected in the fact that the ceilings were much higher. They had a nice common area for activities. There was a chapel. There was a courtyard area, where some gardening could be done with raised beds and wooden structures. People could do gardening without having to bend over. They had a bar and happy hour in the dining hall, which I thought was kind of surprising. They had a very spacious and pleasant dining hall area. They had a nice sitting area with a fireplace. Everything was quite new. The halls were very spacious, too, which I thought was really good for people to be able to move around comfortably and freely. Their prices were on the higher end of assisted living here. The Director that showed us around did an outstanding job. She even took us out to the condominium apartments and gave a chance to see those as well, even though that wasn't a consideration on our part. They offered us a meal, but we declined."
