"I will be moving to United Church Homes - The Polaris Community. I met a couple of people there, and everybody seemed friendly, but I liked that it was closer to representing the home I had just moved out of. It had a full kitchen, no kitchenette. The room was a par, and it looked comfortable. They had a range, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. So, they had quite a bit, and Anna was great. I didn't see anything wrong with the cleanliness of the building. It's a very large building."

"My Mom really enjoys living at Story Point. She loves her one bedroom apartment with a balcony and small kitchen. She has made many friends and can be as active as she feels fit for each day…… From exercise classes to personal game times as well as the activities scheduled for all of the residents……her days are filled with joy!"

"Overall, The Bristol was a very nice place. It's very new, so everything's sparkling clean. The staff was very, very pleasurable to talk to. In fact, I knew a couple of people who moved in there and they liked it very much. The rooms and the closet areas were a little smaller than we liked, but other than that, we liked everything about it."

"My experience with Danbury in Westerville has been exceptional. As a facility entrusted with the care of my aging parents, Danbury has consistently exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The facility is impeccably clean and well-kept. From the moment you step inside, you can immediately sense the dedication to maintaining a comfortable and hygienic environment for residents. I believe this type of attention to detail speaks volumes about their overall commitment to quality. What truly distinguishes Danbury, however, is its staff. In all my interactions, from administrative personnel to caregivers, I have encountered individuals who are not only highly professional but also genuinely caring. Their compassion and dedication to their work are evident in the way they treat residents and family members alike. My parents are in memory care, and I am grateful for the opportunities they have to engage in the 5 to 6 activities offered daily. These activities are designed especially for memory care residents and include things like sing-alongs, pet therapy, storytelling, and chair exercise. They have even taken 'field trips' which allow residents to get out and experience the beautiful parks nearby. Another standout feature of Danbury is their food services. The meals provided are nutritious and, according to my mother, delicious, thus ensuring residents are well-nourished and satisfied. Most importantly, the nursing and caregiving staff at Danbury approach their work with a profound sense of respect and dignity, which has been incredibly reassuring for my family. Knowing that my parents are safe and in such capable and compassionate hands brings us great peace of mind."

"My mother was a Danbury resident for a year until she passed. My family is confident that we made the best choice with Danbury as the entire staff there is top notch. My mom had wonderful care there. I interacted with the staff on a daily basis and always felt their care was genuine. Everyone went above and beyond in looking after my mother. The food was always outstanding and the entire facility well-maintained. I told their loving and compassionate Exec. Director, Cara, that when my time comes, the Danbury is where I want to be. Thank you so much."

"My friend is now at Brookdale Trillium Crossing. I like the facility. I like the entranceway in that it opens up into the dining room so that there's kind of a sense of community there. I like the fact that she had only been there about three weeks, but the person at the front desk called her by name when we walked out. She's in assisted living, and one of the assistants there wanted to make sure that my friend knew that if we were leaving, we needed to sign back in. She had left before with someone else and didn't sign back in. So, I thought that was good that the person on her floor brought that up to her and walked back and showed her where the back door was if she wanted to go out the back way. She asked my friend if she had a fob so she could get in the back door, and my friend did not, so she said, 'Okay, I'll make sure that you get one.' To me, that exhibited that they were keeping a close eye on her whereabouts as they should. My friend's apartment is accommodating some of her furniture that was pretty big. The ceilings are fairly high. Even though it's only a one-bedroom apartment, the ceiling gives you the feeling that it's much larger than it is. The bathroom is a nice big size. She has a full kitchen. Her furniture seems to fit in there pretty well. My friend is still unpacking, but I thought that was pretty good. For activities, I know they have a pool, but it was not open at the time because they were doing something to it. My friend likes the fact that they go out shopping every Wednesday and she can get on a travel van and go with whoever else is going shopping, and she can go to the local stores. I like that. She likes the selection of food, and she's very picky. She likes the food, and of course, that's important. She has the option to bring it back to her room, which she is doing because her room is pretty close by. I know she's doing an exercise class, too. So, I was very happy that she was getting into that right away. "

"I will move into The Village of Westerville. The staff is very nice and the rooms are great. I have a bedroom with a living room, a walk-in closet and a refrigerator, a nice bathroom, and a walk-in shower. I have a paper that tells what activities are there and they look nice. They go shopping, and they have a beautiful dining room. When we were there, they served ham and cornbread and corn and mashed sweet potatoes, and they had a salad bar. It's very good. I liked the apartment well, and the manager was sweet, nice, and kind to us."

"I visited Westerwood. They have a lot of variation in services and a lot of things to do. I liked that place. The guy sat down, took a lot of time with me, and went over stuff with me. He went over everything thoroughly with me. I interacted with the receptionist there. She was very accommodating. The facility looked very nice. They had a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. They had a lot of different types of facilities. They had their bank in there. They had an actual weight room in there. They had a little bit of everything. Anything you wanted, they had there. They have somebody in there to help you walk better. They have physical therapy onsite. They have movie nights, and they have a choir. They have things to do all day long if you want to."

"My tour of Oakleaf Village of Columbus was nice. It was a wonderful place. Britney was very knowledgeable about the facility. The room was nice; it was almost like an apartment and it could offer a great deal of independence to my mom. The facility was clean. What I liked most about the facility was that the dining room area was almost like a restaurant to the point where you could order food any time of day. It was like limitless food and it was included in your package. It looked almost gourmet-like; it wasn't cafeteria-style or undesirable looking. It was nice looking too, which to me was important. I think it was during Halloween that I was there, so everything looked nicely decorated. The staff was very pleasant and very warm."

"Senior Star at Dublin Retirement Village was very lovely. They were wonderful, the apartments were fine, and it's worth taking a look at. The amenities are good, they seemed pretty consistent across the board, they have everything that you would need. It's a great location for me, right by where I live and work. The staff was incredibly friendly. They have field trips, they take you to the grocery stores, they have lectures, they have a gym, they own a metro park, and they have gardening."

"Verena at Hillard was brand new. One of the nicest things about them is that it's a senior facility. In your rental, you get two meals a day that are chef-crafted meals, they say. So, it was very good for providing excellent food, and we ate there. It just does not provide any kind of health care. That's the downside if you're an aging person who needs to have a nurse on duty. One of the things that is unique about it is that it has a direct hallway connection to the Hilliard Library. When their library opens, all residents have a pass to get into the library from their hallway. The sales representative was especially accommodating and very, very personable. The building was very new and they got spacious apartments. It's an active 55+ year old community."

"I have a friend who lives at Stone Oak Retirement, so I go and eat there. There are entertainments, too. It's beautiful. They have a gorgeous lobby and a beautiful dining room. There are lots of lights. It's very cheerful. I like the food, and anything else that's not on the menu, they will make it. They have exercises, a therapist, and a dance instructor. They have a garden club for people there who like the garden. The dining room staff is very accommodating. The chef will come around and talk to people and ask for their opinions. They're very nice. It's good value for money. All food and services are included. If you're not going to be there for a meal, they will save it for you."

"The Coventry Senior Living was very pretty. It's only been there for 14 months so it was the newest with the biggest rooms and the most activities. I met the woman who gave me a tour, I met two nurses, the chef, the dining room supervisor, and the receptionist. All of them are very friendly. They stopped at the table where we were talking and chatted for a few minutes. All of them stopped, except the receptionist, because she had to stay in the lobby. I did not eat there but I talked to the chef. He said that they don't open cans and they don't freeze their vegetables. All of their vegetables are fresh. That's the only place where I got any information about food. I just don't know what it would cost for my cousin to go there, and that was the drawback. They were a little vague. They said they're willing to do an assessment, even if we haven't decided she's coming, like on FaceTime or something, because my cousin is not local. So, they said they could do a long-distance assessment, then they could tell us which level of care she would be in. If I were younger and had unlimited time, I could do all these assessments and find out exactly what it would cost everywhere, but I'm not younger. They've got a beautiful library and three dining rooms connected to each other. It's beautifully laid out. It's in a busy neighborhood, a construction zone, so I wouldn't give the neighborhood a high mark, but the facility is beautiful. There's a parking garage."

"StoryPoint Gahanna had assisted living and memory care, so we looked at both sides. The staff was friendly. They offered a lot of arts and crafts. There are a lot things for the older clientele. I liked the fact that the rooms were clean. I liked that they had the washer and dryer and the refrigerator inside of it, and just the fact that they could eat out on the patio, and then they have live music and live bands at dinnertime. It was really, really nice. I really would like to put my mom there. I'm just working on money issues."

"Rittenhouse Village Gahanna was clean and big. The staff was really nice and very informative. I like the way the units are. They were clean. The people there were very accommodating. It was a nice place. They can accommodate you according to what your needs are, which is good. It's in a nice area, and it's quiet. They showed me a studio and a one-bedroom apartment. You get a refrigerator, but there's no stove in there. They have a dining area downstairs. If you're not feeling well, they deliver your food to you. They give you a life alert. If you fall or something like that, you can always push the button, and help will be on the way for you. I thought that was good. I was impressed. You have to have your own furniture. They give you a refrigerator, but it doesn't come furnished. You have to have your own bed and things like that. You can fix it up any way you want, whatever makes you comfortable. There's a lot of closet space."

"My father is at The Ashford at Sturbridge assisted living. He just wasn't happy with the food, but their chef is working to make that better. I've been talking with the director and such. The physical appearance is excellent. They've only been open a couple of years. I think it'll be three years this coming January. Their services are very good for both the aides and the nurses. They're very attentive. When I talk with them and ask if they could take care of something for my dad, they're always very willing to do that. I haven't eaten there since January of 2019 when they first moved in. The menu is varied, and I think some of my dad's problem is that he's 88 and your taste buds start to go when you get older. Things just don't taste as you remember them. They take them out to restaurants once in a while and out to shopping. They also have a little car show in their parking lot, and they've had the OSU alumni band come there and play. They have a lot of good activities. They have an onsite beautician and a library. My dad said the food has been very good the last two weeks and it's been three weeks ago since I talked with management about it. I know he's paying less than he would at some other places. They're very responsive. They've closed their facility due to Covid before the governor closed the State of Ohio. I feel that they're very concerned about the welfare of their residents. That's their number one priority and I'm thankful for that."
