I have advanced COPD but I'm able to shower myself, etc.; however, I do need help with housecleaning because that's what I can't do. At the start, I had three people from this agency and they were very poor. They need better people than these especially when it took them about two to three months before they found a good match for me. Fortunately, the fourth girl who has just started is great. She doesn't leave or run errands on my time and she doesn't sit and text on her phone like the others I had before her. She's in her 50's but she's great. She cleans well. She does laundry. She does everything and she's really efficient. In fact, she does things that she doesn't have to do. I'm really happy with her and I trust her pretty much. "

They're small enough that each patient matters and yet they still offer full service including nursing, aids, physical and occupational therapy, etc... I've been a patient of Capital Homecare for several years now and I have been very impressed. My nurse, Renee, has gone out of her way to help me on many occasions. She is very conscientious and always goes the extra mile to make sure I am as healthy as possible. When she noticed I was having a harder time walking she saw to it that I got physical therapy. When I was having bathroom problems she worked with my doctor and insurance company to increase my aid visits. My doctor's office is overbooked and often isn't overly responsive or proactive regarding my needs. The staff at Capital Homecare have always advocated for me and made sure that my doctors do what needs done. My nurse, Renee, has spoken with my insurance company directly on several occasions in order to coordinate my care and to ensure my needs are met. The aids at Capital Homecare are good people. They are hard working and will do anything for you. They are worth far more than their pay. Once I was released from the hospital late in the evening. I called Capital Homecare's main number expecting to leave a voicemail message letting them know I had been released. Instead a nurse answered the phone. At 11 pm. I was amazed. "most of the nurses were very knowledgeable and pleasant.I am paralyze below my waist and the nurses complained about how hard it was to clean my wounds on my bottom,move me from one side to another,and to get me dressed. They also complained about the drive time even tho they got paid for it. My biggest complaint was that they discharged me after 18 months of service with only two weeks notice. The reason they gave me was they didn't have any long term patients. I found out they had several patients that had been with them longer than myself. They never mentioned that it would be a problem doing my wounds durin g the interview,and they never revealed that they don't have patients that take longer to heal than most.That is hard to believe since they have diabetes patients.
