Our overall experience working with Senior Helpers Westerville was fine. I liked the person who did the orientation a lot. She also did all the initial screenings. When the caregiver first came out, she was very young, and didn’t have much experience. Her only experience was caring for her father, so she didn’t have a lot in common with my mother. She provided help with light housekeeping. The billing was fine, it was fair, what we expected, and it was easy.

So I was asked to write an honest review for Homewatch, which I will do without hesitation. Homewatch worked with my son for three years and their staff did an outstanding job. Never once did I feel uncomfortable with any of their caregivers, nor did I have have to be worried one of them wouldnt show up. On the rare occassion someone would call off for work, Homewatch was quick to replace them, so we never went a day without someone there with my son. Having and caring for an autistic child is difficult; Homewatch makes it more tolerable and made my life much easier. The staff was always punctual as well.

I’m using HomeCare.com. It’s fine. They’re very good and very responsive to any concerns I have, and they’ve provided me with a good health care aide, not great necessarily, but good. They also provide light housekeeping, they help me clean myself up, and they take me to my appointment. They get here within a certain time window between 7 and 7:30, and that’s when I need them here. A lot of times my communication is directly with the aides. If she can’t come on a certain day, the agency would contact me to see whether I need some assistance or need somebody to fill me in on a given day. I think I’m paying more than I probably should because they have a mandatory number of days that I can contract for, and that’s probably more than I usually need. To maintain the contract, I have to keep them on a certain number of days.

Cornerstone Caregiving was fine. They took my mom to the doctor’s office, to a couple of appointments, and did some cleaning too. Then they didn’t want to do more, so they just stopped the services (except for picking us up and taking us to appointments). They felt that there was too much smell in here, but they’re very nice. My mom liked the two people that took care of her.
The billing and staff were pretty good. It’s just everyday common stuff, like helping her around the house or to pick up stuff.

I have a caregiver in interim. But they are not bonded. The girl was taking little things. I’ve been talking to people who had same experience as I. Things will disappear from time to time. But it’s more than 2 weeks now since the last time they sent someone over. That’s why I’m trying to look for someone. The girl is good but really not honest because things disappear. I was thinking if it was me but there were 3 of them and that went on a number of times. There was this one aid who will hide things and you couldn’t find it then after 3 or 4 days later it will show up. This was just simple stuff but I don’t want anymore girls until I can find out what is happening. If it was me or it was them. I need to find out for myself if I’m losing my mind or is it something that the girls are doing. I would not recommend this to anybody. They just don’t care. As long as they are getting the money. That only matters to them. It’s the job. They haven’t sent anybody for 2 weeks. With regards to the care of the caregiver they are nice & warm but not always. This is what the interim tells people and I hate this: "You cannot act like the person is a relative, you got to have differentiate between being an aid and being someone that you could talk to". It’s really disappointing. I just need someone who will check on me like twice a day and ask if I’m okay. One thing that needs to improve is to be compassionate with people.
