"Traditions of Beavercreek was all private pay, and we needed something that had Medicaid if needed down the road. That's the only drawback as far as I could see at that point. The staff was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. She showed us the rooms, the dining room and everything. They didn't have two-bedroom units, and they were all one-bedrooms. They were nice-looking and spacious. I was really impressed with the community. The staff was very helpful, too."

"I liked it very much. I got a good impression. The staff was extremely nice. I saw them dealing with residents there, and I liked what I saw. I liked the contact that they had with the patients. I was just impressed. Everyone was really friendly. There was a large activity room. I met with the director, who seemed very enthusiastic. I think they would offer just about anything that a person might be interested in. They had bingo and some social gatherings. I thought the dining room was very nice and inviting. The general area where people were sitting was beautifully decorated, warm, and comfortable-looking. I didn't feel like I was in an assisted living facility. I could have been in a hotel almost, and I was really impressed by that. "

"My mom has moved into Brookdale Beavercreek. They're great. They've been very good with her, so it's been helpful. I think her room feels very homey to her, which is important. The food is good; she likes it. They have quite a bit of activities and she has been doing a lot, so that has been good also. She does exercise every morning with a group, and I think that's been good. It has taken her a little while to get involved in that, but she is. It's pretty much all positive. So far, they've been really helpful. The staff have been really good. My mom's room has been fine for her, and she has a lot of room outside the room. They actually will do laundry, too. They have transportation, but I have not had to use that yet; I pretty much take her to her appointments. The dining room is good. They have different areas where they do activities and stuff. My mom has been pleased with it, so it has made the transition a lot easier. "

"I visited Stoney Ridge Senior Living. It's very clean. They offer plenty of activities. The only downside I saw was it seemed larger, and I was afraid with Mom's memory problems she would have a hard time navigating around. I have very limited interaction with the staff, but I was satisfied. We just felt it was too large for her. The facility upkeep and maintenance were very good. The rooms and the dining area were nice."

"We visited Grace Brethren Village. It was nice, and the staff was very helpful and showed us around. Everything was fine. I don’t have anything negative to say about the place. I would definitely recommend it. The rooms and apartments were nice, accommodating, clean, and well kept. The grounds were well kept, and maintenance people were there pretty much around the clock, so it was very nice. They don’t have enough spaces available for people. They have independent living facilities that people can afford, but as far as assisted living, they don’t have enough facilities available. "

"We went to Brookdale. It was very nice and very homey, but it was more expensive. It was the most homey one that we went to, and the rooms were very accommodating, but it was a little bit more pricey than the other places. The staff was very nice. They set us lunch, and the food was very good, but we didn't see any activities. We were there lunch time, but there was nothing going on there. "

"The staff who accommodated me at Sterling House of Englewood was very great. He showed me everything in the facility. I felt the tour was complete when we were done, but I felt like the rooms were too small for my dad. They felt like hospital rooms. The dining room was too small. The people seemed to need more care, and it was just not what my dad would feel comfortable about. It was a little too sedentary for him, but I would highly rate them because it felt intimate, and I wouldn’t feel like my dad would have been forgotten if he needed more care. "

"We toured Fairborn Assisted Living. They were very friendly, and my sister was impressed with them. We went to the memory side, and they did not have any openings at the time, so she was on the waiting list. When we walked out of the building, she said that's where she wanted to be. All of us had a positive experience with them. The person who gave the tour took us over to the assisted living side as well to just kind of show us the first floor, which had the dining room and the living room area. They have an activity room and a patio that's enclosed, so everybody can go outside if they want to. It was a little garden area with a couple of benches underneath a covered overhang where the residents could sit and talk, which was kind of nice. We were out there for a couple of minutes. The memory care unit is a lockdown unit, and the residents are escorted to the assisted living side by a staff member so they can participate in activities whenever they want, and then they are escorted back to the memory care side. The family members are given a code to be able to get into the memory side whenever they want to come and visit, so they have access, but the residents that are there are locked down in case they have wandering issues. We did not go into the assisted living side of the dining room, but the memory care has a breakfast area there. They have 14 residents on the memory side, so it was big enough for 14 of them to have a meal together. From what I was told, the person who does the cooking makes meals according to the residents' tastes."

"I’m happy to leave a recommendation for The Danbury. My father was a resident there for approximately a year. His room was an awesome small one bedroom apartment and it had everything my dad needed. Stove, microwave and refrigerator. My dad loved that he called his home. The staff is awesome, very caring and responsive. And pleasing to interact with. The food was great. It’s like going to a restaurant sitting down. They bring a menu tell you the specials that they have today and the quality of the food was excellent. They made it easy to have lunch or dinner with my dad and I had it set up so when guest came to visit that they could get a meal ticket at the front desk and add it to my bill, so he would have someone there to still have lunch and dinner with so they all enjoyed their time while they visit with him. My dad loved the Danbury and it was easy for him, He would say I’m perfectly happy being here at home. There were couples that lived beside of him and across the hall. All the residents were friendly as well as the greeting staff whenever I would visit, It was always pleasing to go there. “It wasn’t like going into a nursing home” it was like going into a nice facility that you might be greeted by an elderly person in a tracksuit doing their physical activity walk or a resident on their scooter or a walker, but in a nice well-kept lobby and the dining area was right there to see as well. The facility is well kept where they have a barber shop, activity rooms, movie theater, and it’s the kind of place that if I was going to look for myself to move into being elderly. I would definitely go to the Danbury. The overall feel and the smell of the facility was pleasant not like most other type of Facilities that I had visited, so my overall experience was excellent. "Before my Aunt and Uncle moved in an apartment in this very, very small community and that was the only assisted living they had in the area, but everybody knows everybody. But now, they have hospital beds in there. They both are in one room, it has a television and it is more like a hospital room. But it has been a wonderful transition since they walked in the door and we're going on five years. The food is okay. The staff is fantastic. The nurse that my aunt and uncle have, they will call me at any given time just to update me on anything. The hospice is involved. So, the hospice is in there every day. The hospice calls me also. So, even though I live in another state, I always know what is going on. They make sure that I have updates on anything that goes on. "

"Bickford of Middletown is wonderful and beautiful. The staff is really good. The dining area is really pretty. They have a lot of different activities. The apartment we saw had a living room and a bedroom. The place is friendly and everybody looks happy."

"We toured the assisted living community of Aaron's Garden Senior Living & Memory Care for my mom. It was nice and clean when we went in. The tour person or the admission person was very kind and answered all of our questions. The rooms were also very nice and immaculate. There weren't many residents there because I guess they were on a field trip or an outing, but the residents seemed very happy there. The place smelled clean and had a nice home-like feel, which is what I liked about it. It is small and intimate. If they didn't have that long waiting list, that's the place that I would have trusted my mother to be in, because even the staff seemed friendly and very attentive to the residents' needs. In the other places I went, they didn't even greet me, and I think that's very important. When you go somewhere, the staff members should always greet you with a smile, and I was greeted with a smile there. It just made me feel comfortable and welcome. It made me feel like my mother would be welcome there, too."
