The Best Assisted Living Communities in Miami County, OH

"Our grandparents lived here for 5-10 years into their 90's. The setting is VERY homey, and doesn't feel like a nursing home or assisted living facility. Has a lovely dining room, and a private, formal dining room w/a fireplace that families can use for gatherings. The staff was excellent and friendly. The activities director had a full schedule of things to participate in, including outings on their small "bus" to see the fall colors, Christmas lights, shopping, restaurants, theater productions, etc... There is a large patio and large enclosed back yard for residents and their families to enjoy. There are smaller enclosed areas where residents can have small gardens. If we were looking for a place currently for a family member, we would definitely start our search with Brookdale. "

"My tour with Danbury Huber Heights went great. I liked the place. I love the atmosphere. It's bright, and not as dark and dingy as a lot of places. The staff was very nice and informative. The facility looked very nice, very clean and they have a cleaning service for each individual room every week."

"Grace Brethren Village was a pretty good place and very homey. They had plenty of nursing aides and RNs, and plenty of things to do on your own or with your family. The staff was nice and very knowledgeable. The facility was OK. I saw people wandering around doing things."

"I found Lane Park for my mom. She has been there for a couple of weeks now, and our experience has been very good. The executive director went out of his way to try to make sure that mom could come to this facility. The food is good, and they let me eat with her without charging me. Her room is clean, and the nurses and everybody are very good. Everything is fine -- I have no complaints. Plus it's a brand new facility. "

"I liked the size of Trustwell Living at Oakley Place. It was smaller and all on one level, so it presented a home-like atmosphere. Everybody was very nice and their programs were good. The staff who gave me the tour was not just professional, but she was very kind and very helpful in answering questions. We enjoyed her. We toured the rooms very nicely and thoroughly. We saw the eating areas and different rooms, and everything was very nice and clean. But the bedrooms were older and smaller."

"It was very nice. We took our mother there. It had an elevator. She has dementia, and she was so nervous about it. But it was nice. We liked it a lot, and it's in Fairborn. We saw a one-bedroom with an extended living room and a small kitchen. It's more than just one bedroom with a sitting area, which we liked. They had activities and played all kinds of games, but we weren't there when they were doing them. They had a lady who plays the piano. They showed us the activity room and a special room if you wanted to have guests. It had a little kitchen on the side where you can make things where you can invite people or your family. The staff was very good. It was very clean. The menu looked very nice. The dining area was very nice. They had a little garden with flowers and a nice little sitting area that was really pretty and had a lot of greenery."

"Mom is now very happy at Brookdale Place because everyone treats her wonderfully. She says the place is clean and she loves the food, which is very delicious. They were very helpful in assisting with her move in, and I have no complaints whatsoever. The rooms are wonderful and mom has ample space for her bedroom furniture, her chair, table, and TV. They have a lot of activities and they have got something going on every day. I get a calendar of their monthly activities -- they would take them on outings or out for lunch. They also bring in live entertainment, which I sat in on a couple of times. I couldn't be happier with this place. The people who work there are just wonderful. "

"I visited Springfield Assisted Living. The apartment the lady showed me was super, but they were full. You would not think that it was designed for assisted living because it looked like an apartment in a nice apartment building. It had the kitchenette that I wanted. "

"The Carlyle House is beautiful. It is very nice, but they don't have any rooms. They have a chef, and it looks like he was preparing something really good. The interactions with the residents were a lot better than the other facilities. They all have a list of activities. They all have a schedule, but that doesn't mean they do them, but the schedule looks fine. You are only there for a little while, so you only get a quick glimpse. The facility looks really nice. The ambiance is very nice, and the staff that assisted us was very knowledgeable. His own grandmother is there. I would recommend them. "

"I toured Northwood Assisted Living. It was great. The staff member who gave the tour was very polite and knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious. We checked out the dining area, but we didn't eat food. The dining area was very nice. The place was just very nice."

"We toured Trustwell Living at Urbana Place. The ladies were very nice. They absolutely made my father feel more comfortable because he was not feeling comfortable. He will move there for respite. The lady who is in charge was extremely helpful. It is more of a home atmosphere with apartments. So, you have your privacy having an apartment instead of just having a room where somebody can walk in at any time. If my father leaves and feels uncomfortable about leaving his door unlocked, he can lock it. I was also amazed at how big the closets were, and the bathrooms were really, really large, too. It has a chair lift, which he uses to sleep, and so that will be just like home. He was very tickled to know that there's a microwave and a little refrigerator, and he can have his snacks and things there like he does at home. They told him to bring whatever he wanted that would make him feel more comfortable and make it more like home. They were just wonderful. Right now, they don't have a normal cook, so the staff is cooking. They're really putting forth a lot of effort into serving good meals that have flavor, and they said their residents are very happy with that. I was impressed with the people, probably more so than the facility. I think that the people make the facility a comfortable and happy place to live. They're very helpful, caring, and friendly. I thought the facility looked clean, but a little worn. The lounge was very inviting with the fireplace. They have a nice little summer room in the back where you could go. The lady had brought her own plates from home that had birds on them, and somebody else who lives in the community brought a clock that chirps, and I thought that was really cool."

"I liked the 24-hour availability of Grand Court. They showed me a one-bedroom apartment, and the rent included two meals. They have transportation for doctor’s appointments. The staff was very friendly, very professional, and knew what they’re doing. "

"Brookdale Beavercreek has turned out to be the perfect fit for our loved one. Since the day he arrived (and multiple staff came to greet him and make him feel welcome) he has been happy & content. The complex is small, residents are kind and caring and the staff is highly involved. His apt is cleaned twice weekly, laundry completed and they are always cleaning & maintaining the property itself. He is encouraged to participate in activities and does so. Nursing staff is on it—great communication about his care. When touring properties, ask yourself what is the best fit for your loved one—we had a not great experience in a fancier setting, with lots of staff turnover. We highly recommend Brookdale Beavercreek."

"The facility is very home like and very inviting. The staff is fantastic and give great care. The food is all made by the staff and is very tasty. I would highly recommend optimized, it was a god sent for my father who requires some extra care above the norm. And the cost is very resonable"
