The Best Assisted Living Communities in Miami County, OH

"Our grandparents lived here for 5-10 years into their 90's. The setting is VERY homey, and doesn't feel like a nursing home or assisted living facility. Has a lovely dining room, and a private, formal dining room w/a fireplace that families can use for gatherings. The staff was excellent and friendly. The activities director had a full schedule of things to participate in, including outings on their small "bus" to see the fall colors, Christmas lights, shopping, restaurants, theater productions, etc... There is a large patio and large enclosed back yard for residents and their families to enjoy. There are smaller enclosed areas where residents can have small gardens. If we were looking for a place currently for a family member, we would definitely start our search with Brookdale. "

"Danbury has been a wonderful caring home for my mother. The staff is knowledge and friendly, not just the nursing and the support staff but dining room, cleaning and maintenance people are all warm-hearted. The food is healthy and delicious and a variety of items are available each day. My mother’s studio apartment as well as the rest of the community is always well maintained. It is a bright and cheerful “home”. Danbury has taken the worry off of my shoulders. I know my mom is getting her medication everyday and on time. If she needs help it is there and given by loving gentle people. In short, Danbury has made my mother’s life easier with less anxiety and therefore more enjoyment for her. My visited with her are now filled with calm loving quality time."

"Grace Brethren Village is very nice, but I wouldn't be able to live there because they were duplexes, and if you had to go to the office it would be way too far to walk and I don't drive. Getting the mail was also too difficult because it came to the front of the property and it would've been walking like 50 to 60 feet outside and I really can't do that. It wasn't going to work for me that way. The price was right but I won't be able to do the actual living there. The place is well-kept and very well-maintained. People were very good, helpful, and told you everything you needed to know and it was a fine place. It was just not for me."

"I found Lane Park for my mom. She has been there for a couple of weeks now, and our experience has been very good. The executive director went out of his way to try to make sure that mom could come to this facility. The food is good, and they let me eat with her without charging me. Her room is clean, and the nurses and everybody are very good. Everything is fine -- I have no complaints. Plus it's a brand new facility. "

"I liked the size of Trustwell Living at Oakley Place. It was smaller and all on one level, so it presented a home-like atmosphere. Everybody was very nice and their programs were good. The staff who gave me the tour was not just professional, but she was very kind and very helpful in answering questions. We enjoyed her. We toured the rooms very nicely and thoroughly. We saw the eating areas and different rooms, and everything was very nice and clean. But the bedrooms were older and smaller."

"The 10 Wilmington Place was the most impressive facility of all of the ones I toured. They seemed to have a lot more staff available and a lot of things to offer. They had a movie theater that no else had. They had activities centered around the community, like pizza night and different things. There seemed to be more of them and in different locations. It was a much bigger building than any of the others, so they had more opportunities. The person that took us on the tour (as we went up and down the halls from floor-to-floor) didn't see a person that she didn't know by name. They had room options. There was a studio and a studio deluxe, which was just slightly bigger where you can tuck a bed back into a wall, like a hotel room. I didn't see anything that was lacking. They had variations in the menus and the meals from day-to-day. There was a whole month's worth that we could see. It was not very repetitive. There was a lot of staff around that were even not aware that we were there, but the way they were interacting with the residents seemed to be so positive. It was very encouraging to whoever they were dealing with. You could tell that made a difference. There was no one there that I would feel uncomfortable with. It was the most impressive facility in a lot of ways including the exterior, the cleanliness, and the architecture. Everything about the building was topnotch. I am ready to go live there."

"It was very nice. We took our mother there. It had an elevator. She has dementia, and she was so nervous about it. But it was nice. We liked it a lot, and it's in Fairborn. We saw a one-bedroom with an extended living room and a small kitchen. It's more than just one bedroom with a sitting area, which we liked. They had activities and played all kinds of games, but we weren't there when they were doing them. They had a lady who plays the piano. They showed us the activity room and a special room if you wanted to have guests. It had a little kitchen on the side where you can make things where you can invite people or your family. The staff was very good. It was very clean. The menu looked very nice. The dining area was very nice. They had a little garden with flowers and a nice little sitting area that was really pretty and had a lot of greenery."

"Mom is now very happy at Brookdale Place because everyone treats her wonderfully. She says the place is clean and she loves the food, which is very delicious. They were very helpful in assisting with her move in, and I have no complaints whatsoever. The rooms are wonderful and mom has ample space for her bedroom furniture, her chair, table, and TV. They have a lot of activities and they have got something going on every day. I get a calendar of their monthly activities -- they would take them on outings or out for lunch. They also bring in live entertainment, which I sat in on a couple of times. I couldn't be happier with this place. The people who work there are just wonderful. "

"I visited Springfield Assisted Living. The apartment the lady showed me was super, but they were full. You would not think that it was designed for assisted living because it looked like an apartment in a nice apartment building. It had the kitchenette that I wanted. "

"I went to Traditions of Beavercreek. It was more upscale than the other place, but the rooms were smaller, and so I would not consider it. Their outdoor area was enclosed, so you couldn't really see anything but another building. It was very nice, clean, and new, and everything, but it was not my cup of tea. The personnel could not have been nicer. He was super nice and helpful. He sat down and tried to answer all our questions. The place looked cleaner. The facility is two-story. It's bigger, but I thought the assisted living rooms were super small. Somebody opened their door, and I looked inside, and it looked like they had fixed it really nicely. However, the one we looked at was empty, and I couldn't visualize having much in there besides a bed. It seemed like they had lots of activities. They have a Sunday service. They have a chapel, which I thought was nice. They had an open courtyard. It was enclosed. It was a courtyard surrounded by other buildings, and I didn't like that. If I want to see something, I want to see farther than a building."

"The Carlyle House is beautiful. It is very nice, but they don't have any rooms. They have a chef, and it looks like he was preparing something really good. The interactions with the residents were a lot better than the other facilities. They all have a list of activities. They all have a schedule, but that doesn't mean they do them, but the schedule looks fine. You are only there for a little while, so you only get a quick glimpse. The facility looks really nice. The ambiance is very nice, and the staff that assisted us was very knowledgeable. His own grandmother is there. I would recommend them. "

"I toured Northwood Assisted Living. It was great. The staff member who gave the tour was very polite and knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious. We checked out the dining area, but we didn't eat food. The dining area was very nice. The place was just very nice."

"Brookdale Buck Creek is a fairly new and smaller community, but it's very nice and clean. The rooms were also smaller than her current room. We saw that they had a TV area for the seniors, but there wasn't a whole lot going on then. The dining area was clean, but it's not as big as the dining area in the other community. I met a few people there and the staff members were really nice."
